Coulson, Montana

A destructive EF2 tornado hit Billings, Montana on Sunday, June 20, 2010 (Father's Day). Known as the 2010 Father's Day tornado, the strong tornado was on the ground for about 12 minutes and took the roof off the Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark, a 10,000 seat arena, and heavily damaged numerous businesses. The storm was accompanied by high winds and a major hail storm that caused severe damage and flash flooding in the Heights section of the city. It was the first time since 1958 that a significant tornado struck the Downtown Billings area.

First Interstate Arena (colloquially known as The Metra) is a multi-purpose arena located at MetraPark, the fairgrounds of Billings, Montana. The arena has a capacity of 8,700 for ice hockey and indoor football games, 10,500 for basketball, and up to 12,000 for concerts. The arena hosts a variety of local sporting, musical, and other events. It has also hosted professional sporting competitions. In 2005, MetraPark Arena marked its 30th anniversary. The arena was renovated in 2010 and 2011 at a cost of $27 million.

The Boothill Cemetery (also known as Coulson Cemetery) is a historic cemetery in Billings, Montana. It was the burial ground for the ghost town of Coulson. It was acquired by the city of Billings in the 1920s, and a steel entrance sign was installed in 1970. One of the most notable burials is H. M. "Muggins" Taylor, a deputy sheriff who warned the people of Bozeman about the Battle of the Little Bighorn. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 17, 1979.

The Billings Refinery is an oil refinery located in Billings, Montana. The refinery is currently owned and operated by Phillips 66. Completed in 1947, the refinery covers 720 acres (290 ha).

Billings station is a historic train depot in the Historic District of downtown Billings, Montana, United States. The depot was constructed to serve as a passenger station for the Northern Pacific Railway, Great Northern and Chicago, Burlington and Quincy. All three railroad merged to form the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1970, along with the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway. In 1971 Amtrak took over passenger service throughout the country. The station has been a contributing property on the Billings Historic District since 1978, listed as the Northern Pacific Depot. The last regular Amtrak train, the North Coast Hiawatha, departed in October 1979. Today, the depot has been renovated into a popular events center.

Centennial Ice Arena is a 550-seat ice arena in Billings, Montana, USA. From 2006 to 2017, the arena played host to the city's only junior league hockey club, the Billings Bulls. It also hosts youth hockey and has been the home ice for the Montana Thunderblades, a USA Hockey Select youth team that won the 14U Tier II National Championship in 2014.Public demand for a year-round facility to host youth and junior hockey in Billings prompted the arena's construction. Opened in 1981, Centennial Ice Arena replaced the outdoor King Avenue Ice Rink - the city's only fully maintained ice rink at the time. There are plans to abandon the arena in the near future, as it has a recent history of serious maintenance issues as well as an aging refrigeration system. The Billings Bulls ownership had been pursuing the possibility of two new rinks being built in Centennial Park (an unrelated public park in the city) as cost of repairs for the facility would be in excess of $750,000.

The Montana Women's Prison is located in Billings, Montana, United States. It houses roughly 220 female prisoners. The warden is Jennie Hansen.

The Billings Metropolitan Statistical Area is the largest and fastest growing metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Montana. Located in the south central portion of the state, its population was counted at 184,167 as of 2020. It includes Carbon, Stillwater and Yellowstone Counties in the state of Montana, and has one of the geographically largest trade, cultural, business and medical areas in the United States; this includes all of Montana.

The L and L Building is a historic two-story building in Billings, Montana. It was designed in the Italianate style, and built in 1893-1896 by Sam and Yee Quong Lee, two brothers who were born in China and emigrated to the United States in 1865. It housed a dry goods store, a restaurant, and a lodging house until the late 1910s, when the first floor was remodelled as a saloon and a liquor store. It later housed the Arcade Bar, which became known as "an eyesore and a gathering spot for the city's criminal underbelly," The bar closed temporarily after it was raided by the police, who arrested a bartender and two customers on marijuana charges in January 1993, and it closed down in May 1994. The building was refurbished in 2004–2006. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 19, 2008.

The U.S. Post Office and Courthouse–Billings, in Billings, Montana, was built in 1914. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It includes Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals architecture and Second Renaissance Revival architecture. Also known as Billings Post Office and Courthouse and as Billings Downtown Station, it served historically as a courthouse of the United States District Court for the District of Montana, and as a post office. The courthouse functions have since been relocated to the James F. Battin U.S. Courthouse. The building's construction was touted as a great thing for Billings, and its opening was a matter of great pride for the city. The building was expanded and renovated in 1932.

The Oliver Building is a historic building in Billings, Montana. It was built in 1910 as a warehouse for Oliver Chilled Plow Works, a manufacturer of tractors and plows. It was remodelled by architect Chandler C. Cohagen in 1930. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 19, 2008.

The Acme Building is a historic three-story building in Billings, Montana. It was designed in the Western Commercial style with Classical Revival and American Craftsman features on the facade, and built in 1911-1912. It was known as the Acme Theater in 1912 and the Broadway Theater from 1912 to 1916, followed by the Regent Theater until the 1930s. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since November 9, 2005.
