Marda Loop, Calgary

South Calgary is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located between 14th St west and Crowchild Trail. The community has an area redevelopment plan in place.The community maintains an outdoor swimming pool, as well as a community hall and several city parks. The Giuffre Family Library (previously Alexander Calhoun Library) of the Calgary Public Library is also located in the area. South Calgary was established in 1914 on land annexed by the City of Calgary in 1907. However, the area remained largely undeveloped until the early 1950s.

Clear Water Academy is a private university preparatory school managed by the Legion of Christ which is located in Calgary, Alberta. It is one of the few private Catholic schools in Alberta, and is dedicated to its four pillars for Catholic formation: Intellectual Formation, Character Formation, Apostolic Formation, and Spiritual Formation. Clear Water runs from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade Twelve, with Grades 4 through 9 being gender separated for all classes. High school is gender separated for selected classes, such as religion and physical education. All students are required to wear a uniform.

Richmond is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located on both sides of the Crowchild Trail, south of 17th Avenue SW. It was the location of Alberta Children's Hospital until 2007, when the new facility was opened in the northwest quadrant. The community has an area redevelopment plan in place.Richmond was established in 1950. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 8 councillor, on a provincial level by Calgary-Currie MLA Brian Malkinson, and is currently represented at the federal level by Calgary Centre MP Kent Hehr.

Viscount Bennett High School was a combined junior and senior high school in the Richmond neighbourhood of Calgary, Alberta that operated from 1955 to 1985. The city's fourth high school, Viscount was built to accommodate the baby boomer generation and the southwest suburbs that had grown rapidly after World War II. At its peak in the mid-1960s, the school had over 2,000 students. Due to the area's ageing population and the opening of other high schools nearby, after only 30 years Viscount Bennett closed in 1985.

The Military Museums is a reorganization of the former Museum of the Regiments in Calgary, Alberta, announced by Sophie, Countess of Wessex, on June 3, 2006. The new museum comprises the former Museum of the Regiments as well as the relocated Naval Museum of Alberta and an Air Force Wing consisting of artifacts being acquired.

Currie Barracks is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is located on former Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Calgary, bounded by the Lincoln Park community to the southwest, Sarcee Road SW to the west, 33 Avenue SW to the north, and Crowchild Trail to the east. Being part of former CFB Calgary, the neighbourhood is planned for redevelopment under the CFB West Master Plan by Canada Lands Company. Currie Barracks is located within Calgary City Council's Ward 8.

Wild Rose Brewery, established in 1996 as an independent craft brewery in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is now a part of Sapporo Breweries of Japan.

Bishop Carroll High School is part of the Calgary Catholic School District in Alberta, Canada. The school is named after Bishop Francis Patrick Carroll, the Bishop of Calgary from 1935 to 1966. The school welcomes people who are not Roman Catholic; however, all students are expected to complete Religious Studies courses. Bishop Carroll's athletic teams are nicknamed the Cardinals.

Altadore is a residential neighbourhood in the inner-city portion of the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by 33rd Ave SW and the neighbourhood of South Calgary in the north, River Park and 14 St SW in the east, the Garrison Woods neighbourhood and Crowchild Trail SW in the west, and 50th Ave SW in the south. Altadore is part of the Marda Loop Communities Association (MLCA) along with Garrison Woods and South Calgary. Altadore was named one of Calgary's best neighbourhoods in 2010 for its proximity to River Park, one of Calgary's best parks on the Elbow River, Marda Loop, the largest and busiest outdoor shopping area in Calgary, and for having a vibrant party and cultural scene. The Marda Loop Business Revitalization Zone is located within the community, along 33 and 34 Avenues SW. The neighbourhood is experiencing a gentrification process with many high-end, semi-detached homes built in the last 15 years. Altadore was established in 1945. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 8 councillor. The community has an area redevelopment plan in place.The meaning of "Altadore" is unclear. It may have been named after a mansion in County Wicklow, Ireland, or it may have been a portmanteau word whose first part derived either from "Alta", the standard English abbreviation of Alberta, or "alta" for high (the neighbourhood being on a hill), and whose second part was derived from "dore", a version of the French "d'or", or "of gold".

Alternative High School (AHS) is a public senior high (secondary) school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; which teaches grades 10 through 12. AHS is currently located at the Clinton Ford Centre, which was home to the former Clinton Ford Elementary School. AHS was launched, independent of the board, in September 1974 by a parents group. It reflected many of the "alternative education" ideas that were popular at the time. The early philosophy the school borrowed from the ideas of A. S. Neill, who founded Summerhill School. This involved supporting the freedom of children, and opposing the traditional structure and control of most schools. Although, AHS was never meant to be a copy of Summerhill. In 1975 AHS came under the control of the Calgary Board of Education (CBE).

Killarney, also known as Killarney/Glengarry, is a residential neighbourhood in the city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bounded by 17th Avenue S.W. on the north, 37th Street S.W. on the west, Richmond Road S.W. on the south, and 25A Street S.W. on the east. It was named after Glengarry County, Ontario, as the place the first settlers originated from.

Scarboro is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located in the inner city, between Bow Trail, 24th Street West and 14th St West. Its north-south boundaries are 12th Avenue South and 17th Avenue South. The community is bisected by the Crowchild Trail freeway. The community consists of Scarboro proper, located on Scarboro Hill, consisting mostly of detached homes, and Upper Scarboro (officially called Scarboro/Sunalta West) which consists of the remaining small residential area west of Crowchild Trail.
