Teufelsbach (Alaunbach)

Steinbach is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, in the district Beuel of Bonn. It flows into the Vilicher Bach, which in this part is called Mühlenbach.

Holzlar Is an enclosed settlement in Bonn's district Beuel, east of the Rhine and north of the Siebengebirge in Germany. The Alaunbach is a left tributary of the Vilicher Bach in Bonn, district of Beuel. Its total length is 2.51 kilometers and its catchment area is 1.7 square kilometers. It is located in Germany. The creek is heavily anthropogenic, especially in its lower section in the commercial area of Pützchen and in the settlement area of Bechlinghoven. Site-appropriate riparian trees are rarely found. The stream areas above the “Am Rehsprung” allotment gardens are more natural. Overall, the creek can be described as poor in species and individuals. Originally, the stream flowed from the headwaters on the Hardt between Holzlar and Niederholtorf directly into the Mühlenbach, which is also used for cattle watering, presumably along the Hardtweiherstraße at the former mill pond there. After complaints from residents, the section up to the confluence of the Teufelsbach was taken over by Leopold in accordance with an agreement brokered by the mayor of Vilich in 1822 between farmers from Bechlinghoven and Holzlar and the miner Leopold Bleibtreu "for himself and as business representative of the mining and metallurgical union on the Hardt". Bleibtreu created as a "ditch" to receive the "vitriolic discharges from the Rothenberg" and the waste water from the two alum smelters[3]. The Alaunbach now served as an open sewage ditch for the harmful sulphate, i.e. sulphurous, waste water from the slags of Alaunhütte II, while the Teufelsbach collects that from the heaps of Alaunhütte I (on Pützchens Chaussee); In addition, the Alaunbach absorbs the seepage water, which is reddish-brown due to iron compounds and which escaped from the alumina and lignite deposits that were also mined there in the past[4]. The Arboretum Park Härle (4.7 hectares) is a nonprofit arboretum located on the slopes of the Rhine Valley between Bonn and the Seven Mountains at Büchelstraße 40, Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is open twice a month during the warmer months; admission is free. The arboretum dates back to 1870, when the director of the Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft created a large country house in the English half-timbered style, with park plantings that still remain, including two cedars (Cedrus libani and Cedrus atlantica), a Ginkgo biloba, a Sequoiadendron, and an incense cedar (Calocedrus decurrens). In 1921 the property was acquired by jurist Dr. Carl Härle, who actively planted a wide variety of trees and shrubs. After his death in 1950, his daughters Maria and Regina Härle maintained the property, and ultimately willed it to a nonprofit foundation in 2000. Today's arboretum consists of three distinct parts: the old park with old buildings, the new park on the grounds of a former nursery, and the extensive woods with lawn and fruit trees. All told, the arboretum contains more than 800 varieties of trees and shrubs, with extensive collections of Chamaecyparis, Juniperus, Taxus, and Thuja, as well as roses and fine specimens of Acer griseum, Cornus controversa, Cupressus sempervirens, Juniperus deppeana, Pseudotsuga menziesii, and Quercus pyrenaica.

Ankerbach is a small river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It has a length of 4.4 km and its drainage basin has am area of 3 km2. It joins the Rhine river at km 650.55, near Bonn.

The Bonn–Oberkassel train ferry was a German train ferry operated by the Rhenish Railway Company from 1870 to connect its right and left Rhine railways. It was the last of six train ferries to begin operations across the Rhine in Germany and the second to last to close.
