The University of Lima (Spanish: Universidad de Lima; IPA: [uniβersiˈðað de ˈlima]; ) is a private nonprofit university in Lima, Peru. It was founded in 1962 and it is considered one of the most prestigious and remembered universities in Peru. The decision to create the University of Lima was made in the early 1960s by a group of university professors, along with commerce and industry representatives gathered in the Civil Association PRODIES (Promotion of Industrial Development through Higher Education). It was after two years of effort that they managed to start it. It officially started operating on 25 April 1962. At the beginning only had with 120 students in a small campus in the Jesús María District. Due to the university's quick growth, the campus in the Monterrico area of Surco was inaugurated to serve the university's space needs. Today, the University of Lima has over 20,000 students, 13 majors, a postgraduate school, a general studies program and a scientific research institute, international relations, along with many services for students, faculty, and the community at large.

The Women's University of the Sacred Heart (UNIFÉ) is a private university for women, located in the city of Lima, Peru. It was founded and sponsored by the Congregation of Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of the Catholic Church on December 24, 1962. Its headquarters are in the district of La Molina.

The Colegio de los Sagrados Corazones Recoleta is a private Catholic school in La Molina District, Lima, Peru. Founded in 1893 by a French mission of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary as a all-boys school in central Lima, it is currently a mixed-sex school.

St. Ignatius of Loyola University (Spanish: Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola) (USIL) is a private institution for higher education and research in Lima, Peru. It was founded in 1995, as part of the Educational Corporation San Ignacio de Loyola, by Raúl Diez Canseco. The main campus is based in La Molina district. Four decentralized campuses in Pachacamac, Huachipa, Independencia, and Magdalena, provide additional infrastructure for lectures, research, workshops, and sport facilities. Historically, USIL has focused on business, management, and entrepreneurship; however, in recent years, it has expanded significantly in the fields of Education, Engineering and Health Sciences. By 2023, USIL offers 34 undergraduate and 13 postgraduate programmes in 8 faculties.

Of particular renown in the fields of agricultural, biological, and forestry sciences, it is also the only university in Peru offering degrees in meteorology. The university is organized into eight faculties which contain twelve academic departments. It is considered one of the most important higher education institutions of Peru.

The International Potato Center (known as CIP from its Spanish-language name Centro Internacional de la Papa) is a research facility based in Lima, Peru, that seeks to reduce poverty and achieve food security on a sustained basis in developing countries through scientific research and related activities on potato, sweet potato, other root and tuber crops, and on the improved management of natural resources in the Andes and other mountain areas. It was established in 1971 by decree of the Peruvian government.CIP is one of the 15 specialized research centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research, an international consortium of agricultural research organizations, having joined in 1972.In late 2015, they partnered with NASA to attempt to grow potatoes in a simulated Martian environment. In March 2017, they announced that preliminary indications are positive.

The building for the Headquarters of the Peruvian Army (Spanish: Cuartel General del Ejército del Perú), known among locals as the Little Pentagon (Spanish: Pentagonito), is a building complex located in the San Borja District of Lima that serves as the Headquarters of the Peruvian Army.
