Sevan Island

Sevanavank (Armenian: Սևանավանք; meaning Sevan Monastery) is a monastic complex located on a peninsula at the northwestern shore of Lake Sevan in the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia, not far from the town of Sevan. Initially the monastery was built at the southern shore of a small island. After the artificial draining of Lake Sevan, which started in the era of Joseph Stalin, the water level fell about 20 metres, and the island transformed into a peninsula. At the southern shore of this newly created peninsula, a guesthouse of the Armenian Writers' Union was built. The eastern shore is occupied by the Armenian president's summer residence, while the monastery's still active seminary moved to newly constructed buildings at the northern shore of the peninsula. Due to easier accessibility (once it became a peninsula), good highway and railway connections with the Armenian capital Yerevan, a well-developed tourist industry in the nearby town of Sevan, and its picturesque location (although less picturesque than it was before the lake level drop), Sevanavank is one of the most visited tourism sights in Armenia.

Vaskenian Theological Academy (also Vazgenian, Vazgenyan, Vazgenian Seminary), is a seminary of the Armenian Apostolic Church on the Sevan peninsula on the shores of Lake Sevan in Armenia. It operates under the direct supervision of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

Tsamakaberd, is a residential neighborhood in the town of Sevan of Gegharkunik Province, Armenia. It is located to the north east of the town centre. It is home to a cyclopean fortress, and the historic district of Mashtotsner.

Sevan Botanical Garden (Armenian: Սևանի բուսաբանական այգի), is a botanical garden founded in 1944 in the northern Armenian town of Sevan, near the Tsamakaberd neighbourhood. The garden is operating as a satellite of the Yerevan Botanical Garden under the supervision of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences.Located at a height of 2000 meters above sea level and having a dry, continental climate, the area is characterized by cold winters and hot summers. The garden is home to around 650 species (including 225 species of trees), from Armenia, North America, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Himalayas.In 2015, a green house was opened within the garden.

Norashen (Armenian: Նորաշեն) is a village in the Sevan Municipality of the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia. The village has a church and a cemetery.

Sevan (Armenian: Սևան [sɛˈvɑn]) is a town as well as one of the most popular resorts in Armenia, located in the Sevan Municipality of the Gegharkunik Province on the northwestern shores of Lake Sevan. The town is built at a height of more than 1,925 metres (6,316 feet) above sea level, 65 km (40 mi) northeast of the capital Yerevan, and 35 km (22 mi) north of the provincial centre Gavar. Sevan is surrounded by the Sevan National Park, a natural protected area extending from the northeastern parts of the town to the southwest, while Lake Sevan forms the natural border of the city to the east. As of the 2011 census, the population of the town was 19,229, and as per the 2016 official estimate, the population of Sevan is 19,200.

Gomadzor is a residential neighborhood in the town of Sevan of Gegharkunik Province, Armenia. It is located to the north of the town centre.

Chkalovka (Armenian: Չկալովկա) is a village in the Sevan Municipality of the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia.

Dilijan National Park (Armenian: Դիլիջան ազգային պարկ, romanized: Dilijan azgayin park) is one of the four national parks of Armenia. Occupying an area of 240 km², it is located in the north-eastern Tavush Province of Armenia. It is known for its forest landscapes, rich biodiversity, medicinal mineral water springs, natural and cultural monuments, and extensive network of hiking trails.
