Scotch Plains-Fanwood Regional School District

Scotch Plains is a township in Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The township is located on a ridge in northern-central New Jersey, within the Raritan Valley and Rahway Valley regions in the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 24,968, an increase of 1,458 (+6.2%) from the 2010 census count of 23,510, which in turn reflected an increase of 778 (+3.4%) from the 22,732 counted in the 2000 census.

Plainfield Township was a township in New Jersey, United States, that existed from 1847 until it was dissolved in 1878. The township was established by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 5, 1847, from portions of Westfield Township, while the area was still part of Essex County. On March 19, 1857, it became part of the newly created Union County. Plainfield city was incorporated as a city on April 21, 1869, from portions of Plainfield Township, based on the results of a referendum held that same day. The city and township coexisted until March 6, 1878, when Plainfield Township was dissolved and parts were absorbed by Plainfield city, with the remainder becoming Fanwood Township (now known as Scotch Plains).

Union Catholic Regional High School is a private Catholic high school located in Scotch Plains, in Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Its motto promises to provide a "quality education in a faith-based environment." Founded in 1962 as separate schools for boys and girls, each with its own separate administration and faculty, it has been coeducational since a merger of the two schools in 1980. The school is an active participant in the Anytime/Anywhere learning program. Students from three counties attend the school. The school operates under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark.As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 740 students and 59.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.4:1. The school's student body was 41.4% (306) White, 19.7% (146) Black, 18.0% (133) Hispanic, 10.9% (81) two or more races, 9.6% (71) Asian and 0.4% (3) Native Hawaiian/ Pacific Islander.The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since November 1969; the school's accreditation expires in May 2023.

The Shady Rest Golf and Country Club is located at 820 Jerusalem Road in the Township of Scotch Plains in Union County, New Jersey. Established in 1921, it was one of the first, if not the first, African American country clubs in the United States. From 1931 to 1964, it was the home of John Shippen (1879–1968), the first American golf professional and the first African American to compete in the U.S. Open. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 7, 2022, for its significance in entertainment, ethnic heritage, recreation, and social history from 1921 to 1964. The township acquired the property in 1938 and converted it to a public golf course in 1964.

Westfield Senior High School (WHS, or Westfield High School) is a comprehensive public high school located in Westfield, in Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as the lone secondary school of the Westfield Public Schools. It was established in the early 1900s at its original location on Elm Street until 1951 when it was moved to its current location on Dorian Road. The new wing designated for biology, chemistry, physics, and other sciences, along with English as a Second Language (ESL) was completed in 2002. Westfield High School is overseen by the New Jersey Department of Education. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1928.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,864 students and 151.2 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.3:1. There were 13 students (0.7% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 5 (0.3% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Fanwood is a New Jersey Transit railroad station on the Raritan Valley Line, in Fanwood, Union County, New Jersey, United States. The building on the north side of the tracks (westbound platform) is a Victorian building and, like the north building at Westfield, is used by a non-profit organization. The address is Fanwood Station, 238 North Avenue, Fanwood, Union County, New Jersey. The ticket office is in the station building on the south side of the tracks (eastbound platform). The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 17, 1980.

As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 7,774, an increase of 456 (+6.2%) from the 2010 census count of 7,318, which in turn reflected an increase of 144 (+2.0%) from the 7,174 counted in the 2000 census.Fanwood was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on October 2, 1895, from portions of Fanwood Township (now known as Scotch Plains), based on the results of a referendum held the previous day. The borough was named for Fannie Wood, an author.

Westfield Fire Headquarters is located in Westfield, Union County, New Jersey, United States. The firehouse was built in 1911 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 8, 1980.

New Jersey Youth Theatre (NJYT) was a 501(c)3 charitable organization with a business office in Westfield, NJ and Performing Arts School in Roselle Park, NJ. Founded in 1991 by Cynthia Meryl and Theodore J. “Ted” Agress, New Jersey Youth Theatre produced more than 36 main-stage productions. The company closed its doors in 2018 with the founders’ retirement.
