Scotch Plains, New Jersey

Plainfield Township was a township in New Jersey, United States, that existed from 1847 until it was dissolved in 1878. The township was established by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 5, 1847, from portions of Westfield Township, while the area was still part of Essex County. On March 19, 1857, it became part of the newly created Union County. Plainfield city was incorporated as a city on April 21, 1869, from portions of Plainfield Township, based on the results of a referendum held that same day. The city and township coexisted until March 6, 1878, when Plainfield Township was dissolved and parts were absorbed by Plainfield city, with the remainder becoming Fanwood Township (now known as Scotch Plains).

Fanwood is a New Jersey Transit railroad station on the Raritan Valley Line, in Fanwood, Union County, New Jersey, United States. The building on the north side of the tracks (westbound platform) is a Victorian building and, like the north building at Westfield, is used by a non-profit organization. The address is Fanwood Station, 238 North Avenue, Fanwood, Union County, New Jersey. The ticket office is in the station building on the south side of the tracks (eastbound platform). The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 17, 1980.

Union Catholic Regional High School is a private Catholic high school located in Scotch Plains, in Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Its motto promises to provide a "quality education in a faith-based environment." Founded in 1962 as separate schools for boys and girls, each with its own separate administration and faculty, it has been coeducational since a merger of the two schools in 1980. The school is an active participant in the Anytime/Anywhere learning program. Students from three counties attend the school. The school operates under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark.As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 740 students and 59.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.4:1. Students must apply to enter the school and the school accepts one-thirds of applicants. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools.The Academy is dedicated to the education of students in the field of Allied Health Sciences, as part of the Union County Vocational Technical Schools.
