Alloway is a hamlet in the Town of Lyons, Wayne County, New York, United States near the Ontario County line. It is located three miles (5 km) south of the hamlet of Lyons, at an elevation of 433 feet (132 m). The primary cross roads where the hamlet is located are N.Y. Route 14, Alloway Road (CR 339) and Sohn Alloway Road. Alloway was named for Alloa, Scotland, the original home of Captain Henry Towar, who built a gristmill, a sawmill, and two stores in the community.A historic octagonal cobblestone building (built 1832), formerly a blacksmith shop, is located on the corner of Alloway Road and Water Street in the hamlet, just off N.Y. Route 14. There was a land office (built c. 1835), also located in Alloway. It has since been moved to the Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford, near Rochester.Towar–Ennis Farmhouse and Barn Complex is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It begins at Canandaigua Lake in nearby Ontario County and flows approximately 34 miles (55 km) north before emptying into the Erie Canal in the hamlet of Lyons. A number of tributaries feed the Canandaigua Outlet along its route. It is the primary outflow for Canandaigua Lake.The Canandaigua Outlet is part of the Clyde River watershed which feeds the Seneca River. From there, the Seneca River enters the Oswego River and into Lake Ontario. It is used for fishing as well as whitewater canoeing, kayaking and rafting.

US Post Office-Lyons is a historic post office building located at Lyons in Wayne County, New York. It was designed and built in 1931–1932 and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department, James A. Wetmore. It is a 1-story, five-by-six-bay, brick building with a pedimented entrance in the Colonial Revival style.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Broad Street–Water Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Lyons in Wayne County, New York. It includes 25 contributing buildings. The district consists of a T-shaped commercial area that encompasses a section of the Erie Canal and includes structures dating from the 1830s to 1890s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The hamlet and the town are named after Lyon (sometimes spelled Lyons), France. Originally named "The Forks", Lyons was renamed by land agent George Williamson. Lyons is the county seat of Wayne County. It was an incorporated village from 1854 through 2015. The hamlet is east of the city of Rochester. Government offices for the Town of Lyons are located in the hamlet.

H. G. Hotchkiss Essential Oil Company Plant is a historic factory located at Lyons in Wayne County, New York. The remaining two story commercial building is an example of a small frame structure featuring a double storefront with modest ornamentation. It was built about 1884 on the foundations of an earlier structure and is located on the bank of the original Erie Canal. It was occupied by a major producer of essential oils, principally peppermint oil used in the manufacture of patent medicine.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Grace Episcopal Church Complex is a historic Episcopal church complex located at Lyons in Wayne County, New York. The complex consists of a contributing stone church building begun in 1838, a contributing frame rectory begun about 1833, and a contributing parish house built in 1887–1888. The church building is Gothic Revival in style and constructed of rubble limestone walls with cut limestone trim. The rectory is an irregularly massed two story, wood-frame building incorporating a former private residence built at this site about 1833 in the vernacular late Federal / early Greek Revival style. The parish house is a single story, frame building designed in the Queen Anne style.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Ganargua Creek, also known as Mud Creek, is a main tributary which feeds the Erie Canal and Clyde River in Wayne County, New York, United States. The creek begins just east of the village of Victor in nearby Ontario County and meanders approximately 34 miles (55 kilometers) from west to east before emptying into the Erie Canal in the hamlet of Lyons. Ganargua Creek is actually split into two sections as it runs concurrent with the Erie Canal for about 3 miles (5 kilometers) near the village of Palmyra. Numerous tributaries feed Ganargua Creek along its route. Ganargua Creek is part of the Clyde River watershed which feeds the Seneca River. From there, the Seneca River enters the Oswego River and into Lake Ontario. The name Ganargua has been translated as "where the village sprang up" or "a village suddenly sprang up", and the name was given to by the creek by the region's original Iroquois inhabitants. The nickname of 'Mud Creek' is given due to the murkiness of the water. Ganargua Creek is a primary spot for fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Even though a channel has been cut through the foliage, paddling trips on the creek can be difficult due to a number of log jams from fallen trees as a result of ice storms which hit the greater Rochester area in 1991 and 2003.

Dipper Dredge No. 3 is a historic dredge located at Lyons in Wayne County, New York. It is a steam-powered floating dredge located at the dry dock of the New York State Barge Canal at Lyons. The dredge consists of a rectangular riveted steel hull built in 1929 and measuring 110 feet in length, 34 feet in beam, and 7 feet in draft. The bow of the hull is squared and vertical. The stern is squared but inclined in the manner of a scow. In 1946, fuel bunkers were added to the sides of the hull. Much of the machinery, including the steam engines, was built in 1909.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
