Tô Lịch River

Linh Đàm is a neighborhood located in Hoàng Mai district, Hanoi. With a population of about 80,000 people, Linh Đàm is among the most densely populated neighborhoods in Vietnam. First settled in around the early 1600s, the area was mostly a swamp and sparsely-populated area until the early 1990s, when it was planned to relieve overpopulation in the urban core of Hanoi. The neighborhood is characterized by tall buildings and the Linh Đàm lake serving the community.

Hanoi Architectural University (other name: Hanoi University of Architecture, Vietnamese: Đại học Kiến trúc Hà Nội) is the flagship university in architecture, planning, and civil engineering education and research in Vietnam. It was established in 1969 under the administration of Vietnam Ministry of Architecture (now is Vietnam Ministry of Construction). The school's predecessor is the Architecture Faculty of Hanoi University of Construction. Hanoi Architectural University is considered one of the best and largest universities in architecture, urban planning, and civil engineering in Vietnam. The school offers five-year bachelor's degrees (B.Eng. and B.Arch.), two-year master's degrees, and PhD degrees.

On 12 September 2023, at around 23:30 ICT (UTC+07:00), a fire occurred in a nine-story microapartment building in the 29th alley of Khương Hạ street, Khương Đình ward, Thanh Xuân district, Hanoi, Vietnam. Of the approximately 150 people residing in the building, 56 were killed by the fire and 37 others were injured. It was the deadliest residential fire in Vietnam since the 2002 Ho Chi Minh City ITC fire.

Thanh Trì is a district (huyện) of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. Thanh Trì is located on the southeastern side of Hanoi, on the western bank of the Red River. It is adjacent to Thanh Xuân district in the northwest, Hoàng Mai district in the north, Hà Đông in the west, Gia Lâm district in the east (across the Red River), and Thanh Oai district and Thường Tín district in the south. Thanh Trì's terrain is mostly low-lying, gradually descending towards the southeast in the direction of flow of the Red River. The Tô Lịch River flows into the Red River within the district, and the many ponds, lakes and swamps nearby no doubt influenced the district's name; "Thanh Trì" means "blue/green pond", and the district's historical name, Thanh Đầm, means "blue/green lagoon". Thanh Trì district is composed of one town (Văn Điển) and 15 communes: Thanh Liệt, Đông Mỹ, Yên Mỹ, Duyên Hà, Tam Hiệp, Tứ Hiệp, Ngũ Hiệp, Ngọc Hồi, Vĩnh Quỳnh, Tả Thanh Oai, Đại Áng, Vạn Phúc, Liên Ninh, Hữu Hòa and Tân Triều. On April 8, 2008, an Antonov An-26 aircraft on a training mission crashed into a field in Thanh Trì, killing five Vietnamese military pilots. It had taken off from Gia Lâm Airport, and crashed on its way back. The cause of the accident was unknown. A Vietnamese military official who declined to be named said the plane belonged to Vietnam's 918 Air Transport Regiment.Thanh Trì is famous for its variety of the rolled rice noodle dish bánh cuốn, called bánh cuốn Thanh Trì.

Thanh Xuân is an urban district (quận) of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. The district currently has 11 wards, covering a total area of 9.09 square kilometers. As of 2019, there were 293,524 people residing in the district, the population density is 32,000 inhabitants per square kilometer. The district is mostly residential and also contains several universities.
