Gottsunda

Gottsunda parish is a parish in Uppsala deanery (Swedish: Uppsala pastorat) and Uppsala archeaconry (Swedish: Uppsala kontrakt) in Uppsala diocese. The parish is located in Uppsala municipality in Uppsala County. Gottsunda parish includes the localities of Gottsunda, Valsätra, Ulleråker, Ultuna, Sunnersta, Graneberg and Vårdsätra. Ultuna is dominated by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

Vårdsätra is a locality situated in Uppsala Municipality, Uppsala County, Sweden with 237 inhabitants in 2010.

Graneberg is a suburban part of the city of Uppsala, by Lake Ekoln, a branch of Lake Mälaren.

Ultuna (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈɵ̂lːˌtʉːna]) is a locality in Uppsala Municipality, Uppsala County, Sweden with 449 inhabitants in 2017. Located 5 kilometres (3 mi) south of central Uppsala, it hosts the headquarters and main campus of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet, SLU). Ultuna is known for sharing (with Målilla, Småland) Sweden's heat record of 38.0 °C (100.4 °F), which was recorded on 9 July 1933.

The Westerlund telescope was inaugurated in 2004. and is named after Bengt Westerlund (1921–2008). The telescope belongs to Uppsala Astronomical Observatory and serves as a training telescope. It is used in courses for undergraduates, graduates, and examination projects as well as ordinary astronomical observations by astronomers at the observatory.

Villa Göth is a house on the street of Döbelnsgatan in the Kåbo neighborhood of Uppsala, Sweden. Completed in 1950, the home is listed as having a special architectural interest in Sweden (byggnadsminne). Architects Bengt Edman and Lennart Holm designed it as the residence of Pharmacia head Elis Göth. The building has significance in international architectural history as the believed source of the term brutalism.Villa Göth has two floors and a basement and is built in dark brick. The windows are plain but form partial rows in the façade. The visible I-beams over the window sections in the front and rear of the building are an example of how the choice of materials is openly displayed in the house. The roof is a flat, gable roof. The floor plan is open on the interior, and materials are consistently made visible in a straightforward way. The tongue-and-groove pattern of the boards used to build the forms for the poured concrete is visible in the ceilings. Several interior walls are of the same dark brick as the exterior. The bathrooms on the first floor are formed of raw concrete (béton brut) in the form of Alvar Aalto's famous Aalto Vase. Centrally located in the house is the open stairway that connects the floors.

The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, or Swedish Agricultural University (Swedish: Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet) (SLU) is a university in Sweden. Although its head office is located in Ultuna, Uppsala, the university has several campuses in different parts of Sweden, the other main facilities being Alnarp in Lomma Municipality, Skara, and Umeå. Unlike other state-owned universities in Sweden, it is funded through the budget for the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation (previously the Ministry for Rural Affairs). The University was co-founder of the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS) which was established in 2001.The university has four faculties: Faculty of Landscape Planning, Horticulture and Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Resources and Agriculture Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science and Faculty of Forest Sciences. SLU had in 2020 3155 full-time staff, 4216 full-time students, 559 research students and 191 professors.

Fyrisån (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈfŷːrɪsˌoːn], "the Fyris river") is a river in the Swedish province of Uppland, which passes through the city of Uppsala and ends in Lake Mälaren. The "Sala" river in Uppland was changed in the 17th century in memory of the Fyrisvellir battle, mentioned in the Icelandic sagas, as it was the belief that the marshy plains called "Föret" was the site of the famous Battle of Fýrisvellir in the late 10th century. Boats can sail up the river from Lake Mälaren all the way to central Uppsala where two weirs make further progress impossible. In the summer of 2007 the construction of a fish ladder was started, in order to make it possible for the asp, an endangered and potamodromous fish, to pass the weirs and reach its spawning waters. On the last day of April every year, during The Uppsala River Rafting Event, students attempt to navigate the weirs on homemade rafts with predictable results.

The Uppland Regiment (Swedish: Upplands regemente), designation I 8, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traced its origins back to the 16th century. It was disbanded in 1957. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from the province of Uppland, and it was later garrisoned there.

Uppsala University Hospital (Swedish: Akademiska sjukhuset, often referred to colloquially as "Akademiska" or "Ackis") in Uppsala, Sweden, is a teaching hospital for the Uppsala University Faculty of Medicine and the Nursing School. Uppsala University Hospital is owned and operated by the Uppsala County Council in cooperation with the university and serves, together with Enköping hospital in Enköping, as the primary hospitals for Uppsala County. It also fills the function of a tertiary referral hospital for the Uppsala/Örebro health care region and, for certain specialities, a tertiary referral hospital for the entire country of Sweden.

The Museum of Evolution of Uppsala University (Swedish: Evolutionsmuseet) is a natural history museum in Sweden containing the largest fossil collection in Scandinavia. The number of items in today's collection, which spans zoological, paleontological and mineralogical specimens, is approximately 5 million unique pieces, of which only a fraction are exhibited. Expeditions to China in the 20th century unearthed numerous unique paleontological treasures. The museum's collection contains three teeth of the Peking Man, found by paleontologist Otto Zdansky during an expedition to Zhoukoudian in 1921. Due to its large collection of type specimens the museum is an important establishment in the field of biological systematics, and it maintains an active exchange with other scientific institutions worldwide.

Bror Hjorths Hus is a museum located in Uppsala, Sweden. The museum is housed in the former studio of sculptor and painter Bror Hjorth (1894–1968). Hjorth's villa was designed by architect Sten Hummel-Gumaelius (1906-1986). The building was built in 1943 and was for 25 years both the home and studio of Bror Hjorth.The museum has a large collection of Hjorth's work. The former residence and studio are filled with paintings, sculptures, reliefs and drawings as well as preliminary works and sketches for the artist's many public assignments. The museum opened in 1978. In the mid-1990s, the museum was expanded with an exhibition hall designed by architect Bengt Löfberg.
