Newport Center is a business, shopping, and entertainment district located on a high bluff overlooking Newport Harbor in Newport Beach, California, centered around the Fashion Island regional shopping mall. It was created in the early 1960s as part of William Pereira's master plan for the Irvine Ranch. Newport Center was created as the unofficial "downtown" of the Irvine Ranch, which at the time extended all the way down to Pacific Coast Highway.

It is currently represented by Republican Michelle Steel. The district includes Costa Mesa, Emerald Bay, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Sunset Beach and parts of Garden Grove, Midway City, Aliso Viejo, Santa Ana and Westminster.From 2003 to 2013, the district included the cities of Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest (formerly known as El Toro), Tustin, parts of Irvine and parts of Newport Beach and San Juan Capistrano. Following the 2018 House elections, Democrat Harley Rouda became the district's representative, declaring victory after amassing a 3.6% and growing lead in the results, defeating incumbent Republican Dana Rohrabacher. Rouda was defeated by Republican Michelle Steel in 2020.

The Palisades Tennis Club is a tennis club located in Newport Beach, California with an entrance at 1171 Jamboree Road.The club, originally called the John Wayne Tennis Club, opened in 1974. It has 16 tennis courts. There are also lounges and massage facilities. The club offers instruction to both youth and adult players.The United States played the Netherlands at the club in the 1997 Davis Cup World Group Quarterfinals.On January 31, 2017, the Orange County Breakers of World TeamTennis announced that the team would move its home matches to the Palisades Tennis Club starting with the 2017 season. Breakers general manager Allen Hardison said, "We are very excited to once again team up with Palisades and bring the Breakers back to their first-ever home." The Breakers played their home matches at the Palisades Tennis Club from their inaugural season in 2003 through 2006. Club owner Ken Stuart said, "Our club has a great history with the Breakers and is no stranger to hosting large-scale professional tennis events. Palisades will offer Breakers fans one of the best settings to watch a Mylan WTT match, and we are certainly looking forward to having our club members and the Orange County tennis community here this summer."

The Hoag Classic (formerly Toshiba Classic) is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour Champions. The Hoag Classic is played annually in March in Newport Beach, California at the Newport Beach Country Club. The tournament was founded in 1995 as the Toshiba Senior Classic. Hoag became the title sponsor of the tournament starting in 2019.The longest sudden-death playoff in the history of the PGA Tour Champions occurred at the 1997 event when Bob Murphy defeated Jay Sigel on the ninth hole. The record was broken the following year at the Royal Caribbean Classic.

Corona del Mar High School (CdM) is a public school located in the Eastbluff neighborhood of Newport Beach, California, and belongs to the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. It is a combination of a middle school (7th and 8th grades) and a high school (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades). The school was founded in 1962 and has an enrollment of approximately 2,100 students. The school covers an area of just over 1,700,000 square feet. According to US News, there are 92 full-time teachers. It has been ranked by Newsweek as one of the top 200 high schools in the United States, and it has been a state champion in several sports. However, it has also been featured in the national media for scandals involving homophobia, sexism, and academic dishonesty.

Bunnyhenge is a public sculpture in Newport Beach, California depicting fourteen large white rabbits (of the desert cottontail species) sitting on their haunches in a circle. Two larger, 8 ft (2.4 m) rabbits outside the circle are also a part of the sculpture. Made of concrete and placed in the city's civic center, the sculpture garnered controversy when first built due to its improper allocation of city finances, costing $221,000. They were initially made for children to play with.

The Newport Beach Civic Center and Park is a civic center and community park located in Newport Beach, California. It is situated on a 16-acre lot that is bordered by Avocado Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard.

Peyton Company also called Peyton Marine Service and Supplies was a wooden shipbuilding and dry dock company in Newport Beach, California. Peyton Company built civilian boats, yachts and fishing boats, in Newport Harbor. To support the World War 2 demand for ships Peyton Company shipyard switched over to military construction and built: US Army Harbor Tugboats and US Navy Sub chasers. Peyton Company leased Newport Harbor waterfront land to build the Navy and Army ships. The shipyard was started by J. W. Peyton (1875-?), born in Texas and his wife Anabel Peyton (1886-?). The shipyard was later owned by his sons: C. R. Peyton (1911-?) and R. P. Peyton (1919-?), a Naval Architect. Peyton Company purchased the shipyard from Balboa Marina Hardware Company owned by Westin T. Jay. After the war, in 1945 the shipyard closed, partly due to the two deaths in the family. The shipyard office was at 901 Pacific Coast Hwy, Newport Beach.

Buffalo Ranch was a tourist attraction which was operated on 115 acres (0.47 km2) in what is today Newport Beach, California by Gene Clark of the Irvine Company and the grandson of the famous Indian chief Geronimo. It was the first outside business to be allowed onto land owned by The Irvine Company. The ranch began with a herd of 72 buffalo, and this number quickly grew. Several Indian families from Kansas were invited to live in the area and work at the Ranch to add to its authenticity and present various tribal dances for the tourists. Bison Road, which exists today as a connection between Jamboree and MacArthur roads in Newport Beach, was originally created as an access road to Buffalo Ranch.

The Sherman Library and Gardens are botanical gardens in Corona del Mar, California. The gardens are open to the public every day, except major holidays. An admission fee is charged on most days. Today's garden began in 1955 when Arnold D. Haskell bought the Norman's Nursery property. Haskell named the Library and Gardens after his mentor and benefactor, M. H. Sherman.The gardens include patios and conservatories, seasonal flower beds, and fountains. Collections range from desert plants to tropical vegetation. The Cactus and Succulent Garden includes a California pepper tree. A tropical conservatory at the site features orchids, heliconias, and gingers. The Rose Garden has roses, the Fern Grotto exhibits mature staghorn ferns, the Japanese Garden includes a bo tree, and the Herb Garden shows a variety of herbs, including chocolate and orange-mint, tri-color and society garlic.
