Spodnja Jablanica (pronounced [ˈspoːdnja ˈjaːblanitsa]; in older sources also Dolenja Jablanica, German: Unterjablanitz) is a settlement in the Municipality of Šmartno pri Litiji in central Slovenia. It lies east of Šmartno in the valley of Jablanica Creek (Slovene: Jablaniški potok). The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.

Šmartno pri Litiji (pronounced [ˈʃmaːɾtnɔ pɾi liˈtiːji]; German: Sankt Martin) is a town in the Litija Basin in central Slovenia. It is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. It is the seat of the Municipality of Šmartno pri Litiji. The town is located 3 km southeast of Litija at the confluence of three creeks: Reka Creek, Black Creek (Slovene: Črni potok), and Kostrevnica Creek (Slovene: Kostrevniški potok). The town of Litija outgrew the formerly more important Šmartno when the Austrian Southern Railway was routed through Litija. The name of the settlement was first attested in ecclesiastical documents from 1135, although the area was already settled in prehistoric times. The oldest house in Šmartno pri Litiji bears the year 1580, and in the 17th century the Mollerey painting and graphic arts workshop operated in it. The town includes the hamlet of Slatina (in older sources also Slatna, German: Slatenegg).

It includes the hamlets of Brezje (formerly Sveti Križ, German: Heiligenkreuz) and Sela.The local church, built on a small hill in the southwestern hamlet of Brezje, is dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Slovene: Povišanje svetega Križa) and belongs to the Parish of Šmartno. It dates to the 17th century.

It is best known for its association with the 17th-century scientist and natural historian Johann Weikhard von Valvasor, a fellow of the Royal Society in London.

Lihtenberk Castle (Slovene: Grad Lihtenberk, German: Schloss Lichtenberg) is a 13th-century castle ruin located in the Municipality of Šmartno pri Litiji in central Slovenia, directly adjacent to the later Bogenšperk Castle. It is best known for a minor association with the 17th-century historian Johann Weikhard von Valvasor, who owned the ruin and styled himself (among other things) "von Lichtenberg."
