The Tampere Film Festival (Finnish: Tampereen elokuvajuhlat) is a short film festival held every March, mostly at the Finnkino Plevna movie theatre, in Tampere, Finland. It is accredited by the film producers' society FIAPF, and together with the short film festivals in Oberhausen and Clermont-Ferrand, it is among the most important European short film festivals.The first festival was held in 1969. Since 1970, it has been held in its current form, which makes it the oldest short film festival in Northern Europe. Approximately 500 short films are screened during the five days of the festival each year. On December 15, 2020, it was announced that the Tampere Film Festival will open a new international short film competition called Generation XYZ for 2021, which has been developed in cooperation with an American film production company XYZ Films. Selected films will be showcased at the 2021 Tampere Film Festival and judged by an independent jury, and the winning film will be given a prize in the amount of €2,000.

The Tampere Central Fire Station (Finnish: Tampereen keskuspaloasema) is a fire station located at Satakunnankatu 16 in the Jussinkylä, Tampere, Finland, on the eastern shore of Tammerkoski. The Art Nouveau-style fire station building, completed in 1908, was designed by architect Wivi Lönn.

Koskipuisto (Finnish for "rapids park") is a park in Kyttälä, Tampere, Finland, to the east of the Tammerkoski rapids. On the opposite shore of the rapids is the Kirjastonpuisto park - which is sometimes considered part of Koskipuisto.: 12 : 39–42  The Tammerkoski rapids with its coasts belongs to the national landscapes of Finland. The coast was designated as a park already in the first zoning plan of Kyttälä made by architect F. L. Calonius in 1886. Construction of the park started in the 1890s together with the renovation of Kyttälä, and it was completed at the turn of the century. The park reached as far as south of Hämeenkatu, but the construction of the Hatanpään valtatie road and the new Hämeensilta bridge significantly contracted its southern part. Nowadays the park area south of Hämeenkatu is known as Verkatehtaanpuisto.: 39–42 In the 1930s Koskipuisto was renovated and expanded, when the new Keskiputous power plant was built on Tammerkoski and the riverbed was narrowed. Land exposed by the narrowed riverbed was used to build a broader coast promenade. The old edge of the coast was located approximately in the middle of the current park.: 13–16  In 1971 the sculpture Virvatulet (meaning "wills-o'-the-wisp") by sculptor Aimo Tukiainen, dedicated to Finnish soldiers, was unveiled at the park.: 39–42  The park had previously hosted Yrjö Liipola's 1947 sculpture Paimenpoika ("the shepherd"), which was now moved to Verkatehtaanpuisto.: 31 In the early 1990s the play area of the park was renovated and named as the Pikku Kakkonen play park.

Aleksanterinkatu ("Alexander Street") is a street in the Kyttälä district, in the centre of Tampere, Finland. It is a north–south street, which is one of the cross streets of Hämeenkatu, Tampere's main street. In the south, it intersects the Hatanpää highway at Sori Square and ends in the north at Erkkilänaukee in Jussinkylä, near Tampere Cathedral. Like most streets in Kyttälä, Aleksanterinkatu was named in 1877, when the area was annexed to the city of Tampere and a town plan was approved. However, the town plan was not put into practice until the 1890s, when the 15-year lease granted to the old inhabitants of the area expired. The name Aleksanterinkatu presumably refers to Tsar Alexander II of Russia, who had confirmed Tampere's free city rights unchanged for a new 50-year period in 1855.Aleksanterinkatu is also the name of the main street in many other Finnish cities, e.g.: Helsinki, Lahti, Oulu, Porvoo and Loviisa.

Jussinkylä (also known as Juhannuskylä) is a neighbourhood in the city center of Tampere, Finland. It is located east of Tammerkoski and borders Satakunnankatu in the south. To the east and northeast, the district is bounded by a railway and to the northwest by Lapintie. The Erkkilä Bridge (Erkkilän silta) connects Jussinkylä to Tammela. The most significant landmarks in the area are Tampere Cathedral and Tampere Central Fire Station. Neighboring neighborhoods are Finlayson, Tampella and Kyttälä, from which the latter runs a route along the Tuomiokirkonkatu street. The background to the name of the district is unknown, but it has been in use since at least the 1870s. It may refer to a person named Johannes, or even to the celebration of Midsummer.

Tampella (until 2002 known as Naistenlahti) is a neighbourhood in the northern part of the city center of Tampere, Finland. It consists of the old Tampella factory area, the Armonkallio residential area and the Naistenlahti harbor area. The neighboring parts of the internally heterogeneous district located on the shores of Lake Näsijärvi are Lapinniemi, Lappi, Osmonmäki, Tammela, Jussinkylä, Finlayson and Särkänniemi.The Naistenlahti Power Plant operates on the shores of Lake Näsijärvi in Tampella. The Vapriikki Museum Centre is also located in the district.

Tammerkoski is a channel of rapids in Tampere, Finland. The city of Tampere is located between two lakes, Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi. The difference in altitude between these two is 18 metres (59 ft) and the water flows from Näsijärvi to Pyhäjärvi through the Tammerkoski rapids. The banks of the Tammerkoski are among the oldest industrial areas in Finland. There was a busy marketplace in the 17th century. Tampere was founded on the banks of the rapids, as the rushing water provided a great deal of power for the needs of industry. There are four power stations and three dams located on the Tammerkoski. The highest in altitude is the dam between Finlayson and Tampella. From this dam, the stream is led to the power stations of Finlayson and Tampella on either side of the rapids. In the middle, there is the city's power plant and the lowest one in terms of altitude is the dam at the Tako paperboard mill, which belongs to M-real. The three uppermost power stations are owned by the city, while the powerstation by Tako is owned mostly by the municipal power company of Southern Savonia.

The Battle of Tampere was a 1918 Finnish Civil War battle, fought in Tampere, Finland from 15 March to 6 April between the Whites and the Reds. It is the most famous and the heaviest of all the Finnish Civil War battles. Today it is particularly remembered for its bloody aftermath as the Whites executed hundreds of capitulated Reds and took 11,000 prisoners placed in the Kalevankangas camp.

Hämeensilta (the ″Häme Bridge″) is a bridge in Tampere, Finland, crossing the Tammerkoski rapids. The main street of Tampere, Hämeenkatu, runs along the bridge, connecting the Kyttälä district to the western parts of the city center. Hämeensilta is one of the city's best known landmarks, especially famous for the statues on the rails of the bridge. The arches of the bridge are made of concrete and they are coated with a red granite. The 68-metre-long (223 ft) Hämeensilta was completed in 1929. It is named after the Finnish name of the Tavastia province.

Satakunnansilta (the ″Satakunta Bridge″) is an old bridge in Tampere, Finland, that crosses the Tammerkoski rapids north of Hämeensilta. The bridge is part of the Satakunnankatu street and is used by both vehicle traffic and pedestrians. The Satakunta Bridge was designed by engineer Karl Snellman, son of Senator J. V. Snellman. It was built between 1897 and 1900 and commissioned on October 9, 1900. The bridge is a 6-span stone arch bridge with spans of 17 meters. The width of the bridge is 11.75 meters and its total length is 112.6 meters.In 2013, the bridge railings were refurbished to the original model, and in 2014, the bridge lamps were replaced with the original model.

Tuomiokirkonkatu (literally "Cathedral Street") is a north–south street in the center of Tampere, Finland, which runs through the districts of Jussinkylä and Kyttälä. The street is about a kilometer long. In the north it ends at Lapintie, in the south Vuolteenkatu. In Kyttälä, part of Tuomiokirkonkatu has been turned into a pedestrian street. In the future, the pedestrian section will be expanded so that it will eventually extend south from Kyttälänkatu to Suvantokatu and the Sori Square (Sorin aukio).The street got its current name in 1936, when the city underwent a major street name reform. Tuomiokirkonkatu refers to the Tampere Cathedral, which is located along the street. The previous name Viinikankatu was in the town plan in 1886–1936. The old name was abandoned because it was considered misleading; after the town plan changes, the street no longer led to the Viinikka district.Tuomiokirkonkatu has several important sites for cultural historically architecture of cityscape. In addition to the nationally significant the Tampere Cathedral (1906), the Orthodox Church (1898), which was Kyttälä's first church building, rises along the street. Other notable buildings include the Classical High School of Tampere (1907), the Tuominen Stone Wall (1910), and the Stockmann department store (1981).

Koskikeskus is a shopping center in Kyttälä, Tampere, Finland, next to Sokos Hotel Ilves. It was opened in March 1988, when it was the largest shopping center in Finland at the time. The shopping center and the adjacent Hotel Ilves were built on the site of the old Verkatehdas.
