Niehl is a Stadtteil (quarter) of the city of Cologne, Germany. Situated north of the city centre, on the left bank of the Rhine, it is part of the district of Nippes.

The Cologne-Weidenpesch Racecourse (Galopprennbahn Köln-Weidenpesch) is a horse racing track at Weidenpescher Park in Nippes, Cologne. As the only race course in Germany hosting more than one European pattern Group 1 race, Weidenpesch is one of the most prominent tracks in the country.Cologne-Weidenpesch is also one of Germany's oldest horse-racing tracks, having been established as a race course in 1897. The larger of the two grandstands was designed as a cast iron and timber framing structure in 1898 and substantially renovated in 2004. Until recently, the sportsgrounds were also home to Cologne's oldest football club, the VfL Köln 99.

Niehl Sebastianstraße is the northern terminal station of Cologne Stadtbahn line 16, located in Cologne district of Niehl. The station was opened in 1992.

Nordfriedhof is a cemetery in Cologne, Germany. Opened on 18 May 1896, after the Second World War the cemetery was significantly expanded. German actress Trude Herr (1927–1991) is buried there.

Neusser Straße/Gürtel is an interchange station on the Cologne Stadtbahn lines 12, 13 and 15, located in the Cologne district of Nippes, Germany. The station lies on the Neusser Straße at the place where the Cologne Belt road (Gürtel) would have intersected it, if this section of it had been built. Even though the street was never built, the station carries the street name in its name. The station was opened in 1974 and consists of an elevated and an underground station, each with two side platforms and two rail tracks.

Summerjam is a European reggae festival. It takes places annually in July at the Fühlinger See, which is a lake located in Cologne, Germany. The event usually attracts an audience of between 25,000 and 30,000 people. Two stages and two tents are located on an island, with the camping area surrounding the lake. From 1985 to 1993 the Summerjam took place at the Loreley, in 1994 and 1995 at the airport Wildenrath and since 1996 at its present location in Cologne. Throughout the festival's history, many major reggae acts have performed there including (among many others): Black Uhuru, Dennis Brown, Jimmy Cliff, Fantan Mojah, Third World, Steel Pulse, Aswad, Freddie McGregor, Sly and Robbie, Burning Spear, Linton Kwei Johnson, The Abyssinians, Culture, Misty In Roots, Israel Vibration, Lee Scratch Perry, Radical Dance Faction, Lucky Dube, Tony Rebel, Maxi Priest, Bunny Wailer, Shaggy, Beenie Man, Sizzla, Sean Paul, Groundation, Alpha Blondy, Chronixx

Bayer-Hochhaus was a 32-storey, 122 m (400 ft) skyscraper in Leverkusen, Germany. When completed in 1963, it was the tallest building in Germany for nine years until 1972 when City-Hochhaus Leipzig was built. It was demolished in 2012.

Köln Geldernstraße/Parkgürtel station is a railway station situated at Bilderstöckchen, Cologne in western Germany. It is served by line S11 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. In the peak hour line S6 ends in Köln-Worringen instead of Köln-Nippes. An adjacent underground station links the station with the Cologne Stadtbahn KVB light rail network. The station is also served by bus lines 121, 127 and 147.

The station lies on the junction of Amsterdamer Straße with the Cologne Belt (Gürtel), after which the station is named. The station was opened in 1974 and consists of both an elevated and an at-grade station, each with two side platforms and two rail tracks.

Fühlinger See is a series of connected lakes in the Cologne suburb of Fühlingen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The artificial lake covers an area of 100 hectares (250 acres) and is a major attraction. There are equestrian routes around the lake, and the horse riding club Reiterverein Oranjehof is located nearby. Fühlinger See has an international rowing course, and was the venue for the 1998 World Rowing Championships. Men competed in 14 categories for world titles, whilst there were 10 events for women. Germany came out on top of the medal table.The lake was created from 1912 when aggregate was excavated; according to the German Wikipedia entry, this was for what are now Bundesautobahn 4 (Aachen–Cologne) and Bundesautobahn 3 (Krefeld–Cologne), but according to a newspaper article from 1935, the fill was used for work on the railway line from Aachen to Cologne (which was indeed widened to four tracks from 1912 onwards). With the river Rhine nearby, the excavated hole quickly filled with water. From the 1930s onwards, people came to the lake to swim while excavations were still going on. In 1967, the lakes were officially turned into a recreation area. A total of seven lakes are interconnected, all grouped around a central rowing facility. The various lakes have different purposes: one is for swimming and diving, one for fishing, one for windsurfing, and three for swimming and boating, and one for rowing.
