Derry ~ Londonderry railway station

Londonderry Victoria Road railway station served Derry, County Londonderry, in Northern Ireland. It was opened by the Donegal Railway Company on 6 August 1900. It was built in red brick in 1899–1900 by R Campbell & Son of Belfast to designs by James Barton. Its front elevation faced the Craigavon Bridge. It closed on 1 January 1955.The station building was purchased by O'Neill & McHenry, a firm of wholesale grocers, who adapted it for storage purposes. The former bonded warehouse which presently has the address of 6 Victoria Road has been inhabited by Dawson Hinds Office Furniture Centre since the early 1990s. Part of the building was leased for some years to the North West of Ireland Railway Society, which maintained a museum there.

The Craigavon Bridge is one of three bridges in Derry, Northern Ireland. It crosses the River Foyle further south than the Foyle Bridge and Peace Bridge. It is one of only a few double-decker road bridges in Europe. It was named after Lord Craigavon, the first Prime Minister of Northern Ireland. The present bridge was designed by the City Architect, Matthew A Robinson. Construction began in the late 1920s and was finished in 1933. The lower deck of the bridge originally carried a railway line for freight wagons, but that was replaced by a road in 1968. At each end, a silhouetted mural of a railway station stands to mark the former railway. On 3 July 1968, as part of a series of protests against housing conditions in Derry, the Derry Housing Action Committee (DHAC) held a sit-down protest on the newly opened second deck of the Craigavon Bridge.A pair of bronze statues forming a sculpture entitled Hands Across the Divide are situated at the west end of Craigavon Bridge in Carlisle Square and were produced by Derry sculptor Maurice Harron.

Foyleside Shopping Centre is a shopping centre in Derry, Northern Ireland. Construction started in the early 1990s and the centre opened on 25 September 1995. As of April 2023 the centre is 98% let across 50 units. The centre is spread over a 6.99 acre site in the city centre of Derry. The centre is anchored by Marks & Spencer, Frasers & Dunnes Stores. The shopping centre is built into the centre of the city and although it is not on the bank, it does overlook the River Foyle.

The Peace Bridge is a cycle and foot bridge across the River Foyle in Derry, Northern Ireland. It opened on 25 June 2011, connecting Ebrington Square with the rest of the city centre. It is the newest of three bridges in the city, the others being the Craigavon Bridge and the Foyle Bridge. The 235 metres (771 ft) bridge was designed by AECOM, who also designed the Sutong Yangtze River Bridge, and Wilkinson Eyre Architects, who also designed the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. The bridge was opened to the public by EU Commissioner for Regional Policy, Johannes Hahn; accompanied by the First and deputy First Ministers, Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness; and the Irish Taoiseach Enda Kenny. It is intended to improve relations between the largely unionist Waterside on the east bank with the largely nationalist Cityside on the west bank, by improving access between these areas, as part of wider regeneration plans. The bridge also provides a crossing over the railway line approaching Waterside station. The asymmetrical bridge, which is 235 m (770 ft) long and 4 m (13 ft) metre wide, is supported by two sloping pillars and symbolises a coming-together of the two communities. Its curved footpath, track and cycleway link the Guildhall, in the centre of the city, with Ebrington Square in the Waterside area, and St. Columb's Park.

HMS Ferret was a shore establishment and naval base of the Royal Navy during the Second World War, located in Derry. It was given a ship's name as a stone frigate.

Hands Across the Divide is a sculpture in Derry, Northern Ireland. The statue was created by Maurice Harron, and erected in 1992. It stands on the western side of the Craigavon Bridge and symbolizes reconciliation between both sides of the political divide during The Troubles.

Ebrington Barracks was a military installation on the east bank of the River Foyle in Derry, Northern Ireland.

Londonderry Foyle Road railway station served Derry in Northern Ireland. The Londonderry and Enniskillen Railway opened the station on 18 April 1850. It replaced Londonderry Cow Market railway station which had formed the temporary terminus of the railway since opening in 1847. It closed on 15 February 1965.It was entirely demolished soon afterwards. The site is now the headquarters of the Foyle Valley Railway.

The Foyle Valley Railway is a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge heritage railway in Derry, Northern Ireland.Foyle Valley Railway was initially opened in 1990 on the site of Foyle Road station of the GNR (Ireland). In August 2016, Destined Ltd, a charity for adults with learning disabilities, secured a lease on the premises and reopened the railway which had been closed to the public since 2002. A number of Destined members were trained by a staff member of Derry & Strabane District Council's Museum Service.The exhibition consists of a recreated station platform and visitors can find out about the various railway companies which once operated out of the city.The steam locomotive exhibited in front of the engine shed is a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge locomotive built for the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee in 1907 by Nasmyth, Gaskell and Company, originally numbered No.16 and named "Donegal". She was superheated in 1926 and then renamed and renumbered as No.4 "Meenglas" in 1937. The locomotive was withdrawn from service on 31 December 1959, when the CDRJC ceased to exist as a railway company.Initially, a former County Donegal diesel railcar ran along a 3-mile (5 km) stretch of track along the riverbank. in 2002, the North West of Ireland Railway Society relocated the railcar to the Fintown narrow gauge railway in County Donegal.

The Millennium Forum is a theatre and conference centre in Newmarket Street, Derry, Northern Ireland. It was the first purpose-built theatre in Derry and opened in 2001. It has a seating capacity of 1,000 and the largest theatre stage in Ireland. It hosts entertainment of all kinds and can also be used as a meeting and conference venue.

The Richmond Centre is a large shopping centre in Derry, Northern Ireland of 100,000 sq ft (9,300 m2). The centre hosts over 40 retail units, including some major high street names. It was completed in 1984 within the city's historic walls. It was the first major regeneration project in the city, announced by Minister of State Richard Needham, since The Troubles began. It is close to the larger Foyleside shopping centre (400,000 sq ft, completed 1995), which is located approximately 50 metres away.

Derry, officially Londonderry, is the largest city in County Londonderry, the second-largest in Northern Ireland and the fifth-largest on the island of Ireland. The old walled city lies on the west bank of the River Foyle, which is spanned by two road bridges and one footbridge. The city now covers both banks (Cityside on the west and Waterside on the east). The population of the city was 85,279 at the 2021 census, while the Derry Urban Area had a population of 105,066 in 2011. The district administered by Derry City and Strabane District Council contains both Londonderry Port and City of Derry Airport. Derry is close to the border with County Donegal, with which it has had a close link for many centuries. The person traditionally seen as the founder of the original Derry is Saint Colmcille, a holy man from Tír Chonaill, the old name for almost all of modern County Donegal, of which the west bank of the Foyle was a part before 1610.In 2013, Derry was the inaugural UK City of Culture, having been awarded the title in 2010.
