Newtown Jerpoint

The tomb of Saint Nicholas is a slab effigy in low relief of an early 4th-century ecclesiastic popularly associated with Saint Nicholas of Myra in County Kilkenny, Ireland. While more probably a local priest from Jerpoint Abbey, it lies in the medieval lost town of Newtown Jerpoint, just west of the Cistercian Jerpoint Abbey.It is 2.0 miles (3.2 km) southwest of Thomastown in the grounds of the privately owned Jerpoint Park. St. Nicholas's Church and graveyard are in the town, where the earthly remains of St. Nicholas of Myra are said to be buried. Belmore House stands at the top of the town. The memorial has been moved since 1839, and it has sustained damage from the fall of a tree. A conservation plan was developed by the Heritage Council in 2007. In advance of conservation work in 2013, St. Nicholas' church and the tomb of St. Nicholas were surveyed and modelled in 3D.

Jerpoint Abbey (Irish: Mainistir Sheireapúin) is a ruined Cistercian abbey, founded in the second half of the 12th century in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is located 2.5 km south west of Thomastown on the R448 regional road. There is a visitor centre with an exhibition. It has been declared a national monument and has been in the care of the Office of Public Works since 1880. Scholars believe that Domnall Mac Gilla Pátraic (d.1176), the son of Cerball Mac Gilla Pátraic was possibly the founder of Jerpoint Abbey. Jerpoint Abbey may have been in existence since the 1160s but was only formally affiliated to the Cistercian order in 1180. It was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. Jerpoint is notable for its stone carvings, including one at the tomb of Felix Ua Duib Sláin, Bishop of the Diocese of Ossory. The abbey flourished until the Dissolution of the Monasteries by the English king Henry VIII. Jerpoint Abbey gives its name to the civil parish of Jerpoint Abbey or Abbey-Jerpoint in the barony of Knocktopher. It lies near the anciently corporate town of Newtown Jerpoint.

Thomastown Railway Station serves the town of Thomastown in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is a station on the Dublin to Waterford Intercity route.Unlike most other railway stations on the network, there is no ticket office however tickets can still be purchased at a digital kiosk.There is a disused low platform and signal box across the track. The track was removed from it in 2004 when mini-CTC signalling was installed.

It was the fifth WGC-American Express Championship tournament and the third of three World Golf Championships events held in 2004. Ernie Els won the tournament for his first of two WGC titles, which lifted him to second in the Official World Golf Ranking. Tiger Woods was the 2-time defending champion but finished in 9th place.

The 2002 WGC-American Express Championship was a golf tournament that was contested from 19–22 September at Mount Juliet Golf Course in Thomastown, Kilkenny, Ireland. It was the third WGC-American Express Championship tournament, following the cancellation of the 2001 edition in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, and the third of four World Golf Championships events in 2002. World number 1 Tiger Woods won the tournament, to capture his second WGC-American Express Championship and his fifth World Golf Championship. He set the tournament record for score to-par at 25 under. Woods also went the first 71 holes of the tournament without making a bogey, only bogeying the 18th hole in the final round.

It is a fine dining restaurant that has been awarded one Michelin star.The executive chef of Lady Helen is John Kelly. The restaurant is named after Lady Helen McCalmont of the McCalmont family, the last private owners of the Mount Juliet house.

Columbkille (Irish: Cill Cholm Cille) is a civil parish and townland in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Located near Thomastown, it is in the historical barony of Gowran. Evidence of historical settlement in Columkille townland itself include a number of fulacht fiadh sites, a reputed holy well, and a graveyard and ruined church in an ecclesiastical enclosure. Other townlands within Columbkille civil parish include Ballyroe, Carrickmourne, Dangan, Jackstown, Kilcullen, Kiljames (Upper and Lower), Kilmurry, Ruppa and Mungmacody.

Ballyhale (Irish: Baile Héil) is a village in the south east of Ireland. Located in the south of County Kilkenny, south of the city of Kilkenny and roughly halfway to Waterford city. The sport of hurling is popular in the area, and the local Gaelic Athletic Association team of Ballyhale Shamrocks are the most successful hurling club in All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship history. Ballyhale also played a historic role when, in 1832, approximately 200,000 people from four counties gathered in support of those on trial for the 1831 Battle of Carrickshock. The parish of Ballyhale is made up of three areas; Knockmoylan and the villages of Ballyhale and Knocktopher. The population of the Ballyhale district is 335.

Kilfane (Irish: Cill Pháin) is a combination of two townlands located outside of Thomastown in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is made up of the townlands of Kilfane East and West with a total area of 75 acres (0.30 km2). Located in the barony of Gowran, Kilfane gives its name to the wider civil parish which contains 16 townlands. It is in the Roman Catholic parish of Tullaherin. This is also the site of the 13th-century Kilfane Church, now in ruins, which has an adjoining castellated presbytery or stone house. There are traces of the original consecration crosses to be seen, the ogee headed doorways, remains of the altar, sedilia and book rest. Inside the ruined church on the North Wall is the effigy of a Norman Knight in full armour. It is referred to as Cantwell Fada and this effigy is the tallest of its kind in Britain or Ireland.Kilfane House was the seat of the Power family who were responsible for the creation of Kilfane Glen and Waterfall which is now a tourist attraction containing a romantic era (Romanticism) garden and waterfall There is also a Gaelic Handball alley constructed in Kilfane quarry in the 1920s
