The Sanaa funeral airstrike took place on the afternoon of 8 October 2016 when 155 people were killed and at least 525 more wounded when two airstrikes, about three to eight minutes apart, hit the packed Al Kubra hall in Sanaa, Yemen during a funeral. The attack was the deadliest single bombing in the then-two year long Yemeni civil war. The funeral was being held for the father of former interior minister Jalal al-Rowaishan. Sanaa mayor Abdel Qader Hilal was reportedly among those killed. The Saudi-led coalition initially denied responsibility but then took responsibility and put the blame on information given by the Yemeni government.The United Nations alleged that the Saudi-led coalition had violated international humanitarian law because the bombing was a 'double tap' attack, or a type of airstrike where the first bombing is followed by a second one soon after, with the aim of targeting the wounded, aid workers, and medical personnel tending to them. The UN report said: "The second air strike, which occurred three to eight minutes after the first air strike, almost certainly resulted in more casualties to the already wounded and the first responders." Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said that his government was being careful to abide by humanitarian law; however, it stated that its strike on the funeral hall was based on "incorrect information" given to them by the Yemeni government and that it had been carried out without authorization.Human Rights Watch identified the munitions used in the airstrike as 500-pound laser-guided bombs manufactured by the United States, and called on the U.S. to suspend arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

Hadda, also Haddah or Hadah, is a southwestern neighborhood of Sanaʽa, Yemen. It contains landmarks such as the Lebanese International University (Yemen), Hadda Park, Lebanon Heart Hospital, Aljabowbi Castle, the Japanese Embassy, Hadda Mineral Water Factory, Shohada Al Sabeen School and Hadda Valley School. The area to the very west on the absolute limits of Sana'a is known as the Hadda Valley.

Bayt Baws (Arabic: بيت بوس Bayt Baws) is a historic village and fortress in Bani Matar District of Sanaa Governorate, Yemen. It is a largely deserted Jewish settlement. It is located to the south of Sanaa, in a strategic position on the western side of the Sanaa plain. It served as a locally important stronghold throughout the middle ages and was especially used as a staging point for campaigns against Sanaa. Its period of greatest significance was during the campaigns of Al-Hadi ila'l-Haqq Yahya, the first Imam of Yemen. According to tradition, Bayt Baws is named after a person named Dhū Baws, whose genealogy is given either as Dhū Baws b. ‘Abd al-Rahmān b. Zayd b. ‘Abd Il b. Sharḥabīl b. Marāthid b. Dhī Saḥar or as Dhū Baws b. Barīl b. Sharaḥbīl, of the tribe of Himyar.

ʽAttan (Arabic: عطان ‘Aţţān), also transliterated as ʽIttan and known historically as ʽAḍudān, is a village in Bani Matar District of Sanaa Governorate, Yemen. It is a short distance southwest of Sanaa, with the two being separated by a long, low hill.

Yemen German Hospital is a hospital in Sana'a, Yemen. It is located in the south of the city, southwest of Al Sabeen Maternal Hospital and immediately south of Fun City along the 60 meters road and Hadda Street.

Haddah (Arabic: حدة Ḥaddah) is an affluent suburb of Sanaa, Yemen, located about 8 km southwest of central Sanaa in Sanhan District of Sanaa Governorate. It has been described as "the Beverly Hills of Sanaa" — a first-world enclave in a third-world city, with its avenues lined by palatial mansions belonging to the country's rich and powerful. Its buildings mostly tend to emulate the architecture of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states.

American School is an American international school in Sana'a, Yemen. It serves pre-school through grade 12. It was established in 1995, making it the first English medium school accredited by Yemeni authorities.

The Presidential Palace, also known as the Republican Palace, was the official residence of the President of Yemen. It was located in the al-Sabeen neighborhood of southern Sana'a, Yemen, near Saleh Mosque and al-Sabeen Square (where many pro-Ali Abdullah Saleh political rallies and military parades were held when Ali Abdullah Saleh was in power). The palace area was a heavy security zone, guarded by the Presidential Defense Forces (formerly the Republican Guard) and was not open to the public. On June 3, 2011, during the 2011 Yemeni Revolution, the Presidential Palace was subject to an assassination attack on President Saleh and many government and state officials by opposition tribesmen. It left Saleh injured and seven other top government officials wounded. Saleh, the prime minister, the deputy prime minister, the parliament chief, the governor of Sana'a and a presidential aide were wounded while they were praying at a mosque inside the palace compound. Four presidential guards and Sheikh Ali Mohsen al-Matari, an imam at the mosque, were killed.On January 20, 2015, the palace was taken over by the Houthis rebel group. President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi was present but was not harmed.On May 7, 2018, targeted airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition left the palace "completely flattened" and damaged surrounding buildings. At least six fatalities and thirty injuries are reported.

On 21 May 2012, a suicide bomber attacked Yemeni soldiers hereasing for annual Unity Day military parade in Sana'a, Yemen. The attack, which unsuccessfully targeted Yemeni Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser Ahmed, killed at least 96 soldiers and wounded 222, making it one of the worst in Yemen's history. The bombing was claimed by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula affiliate Ansar al-Sharia.

The People's Mosque (Arabic: جامع الصالح, romanized: Jāmiʿ aš-Šaʿib) is a modern mosque in Sana’a that is the largest in Yemen. It lies in the southern outskirts of the city, south of the Al Sabeen Maternal Hospital. Originally named Al Saleh Mosque (Arabic: جَامِع ٱلصَّالِح, romanized: Jāmiʿ Aṣ-Ṣāliḥ), it was inaugurated in November 2008 by the late Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The mosque, 27,300 square metres (294,000 sq ft) in size, has a central hall that is 13,596 square metres (146,350 sq ft) with an occupancy capacity of 44,000. The building cost nearly US$60 million to construct. Open to non-Muslims, the mosque is frequented by tourists, and promotes moderate Islam.
