Dollar Glen

The Battle of Dollar was fought in 875 at Dollar, Scotland, between Viking invaders under Halfdan Ragnarsson and the defenders led by King Constantine I. The Vikings had previously been part of the Great Heathen Army which had been assaulting the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England before moving to a base by the river Tyne to raid the lands of the Picts and Strathclyde Britons. The battle ended in victory for the Vikings who occupied the east-central lowlands of Scotland for a year before settling in Northumbria. Constantine was forced back to the highlands of Atholl and would later die in a further battle with the Vikings in 876. The Picts disappear from the record after the devastation of 875–878.

Dollar (Scottish Gaelic: Dolair) is a small town with a population of 2,800 people in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. It is 12 miles (19 kilometres) east of Stirling.

Devon Way is a pathway in Clackmannanshire, Central Scotland. It lies on the southern section of the former Devon Valley Railway from Dollar to Tillicoultry a distance of 3+1⁄4 miles (5.2 km). It is used by for walkers, cyclists and horse riders and forms part of Route 767 on the National Cycle Network.

Dollar railway station served the village of Dollar, Clackmannanshire, Scotland from 1869 to 1964 on the Devon Valley Railway.

Castle Campbell is a medieval castle situated above the town of Dollar, Clackmannanshire, in central Scotland. It was the lowland seat of the earls and dukes of Argyll, chiefs of Clan Campbell, from the 15th to the 19th century, and was visited by Mary, Queen of Scots, in the 16th century. Mary was impressed by this and said "this reminds me of home".

The Japanese garden at Cowden is located near the town of Dollar in Clackmannanshire, Scotland, on the grounds of the Cowden Castle estate. It was created in 1908 by Scottish traveller Ella Christie, but it was closed to the public in 1955 after an act of extensive vandalism. After undergoing prolonged restoration under the supervision of Professor Masao Fukuhara of the Osaka University of Arts and with involvement of local teams and visiting students, the garden reopened in 2019. The garden is the only one of its type in the world to have been designed by a Japanese woman, horticulturist Taki Handa. It was tended over the years by Japanese gardener Shinzaburo Matsuo and supervised on several occasions by the Hereditary Head of the Soami School of Imperial Garden Design at Nagoya, Jijo Suzuki. The Cowden Garden is now managed by the Cowden Castle SCIO charitable trust.

Blairingone is a village in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. It lies on the A977 road at its intersection with Vicar's Bridge Road near the extreme south-westerly point of the region, approximately 3 miles (5 kilometres) southeast of Dollar. The Arndean agricultural estate lies about 1 mile (1.5 kilometres) northeast, near the River Devon.

It is the metropolitan see of the province of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh, consisting of the additional suffragan sees of Aberdeen, Argyll and the Isles, Dunkeld, and Galloway. The archdiocese is led by Archbishop Leo Cushley, and its cathedral is St Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh.

Forestmill (or Forest Mill) is a small hamlet in the county of Clackmannanshire, Scotland. It is situated on the A977 road between Kincardine and Kinross, about 3 miles from the Kincardine end. The Black Devon river runs through it towards the town of Clackmannan. A notable feature on the river within Forestmill is a horseshoe weir. This was built in 1711 by George Sorocold to direct water from the river through a sluice into the mill lade that fed the Gartmorn Dam reservoir. The weir was added to the schedule of British listed monuments in 1972. The nearby Forest Mill railway station served the hamlet from 1850 to 1930. The Scottish poet Michael Bruce taught at the primary school for several months before his death in 1767.The Clackmannanshire Council website shows the hamlet with a population of 55 in 2009, making it the smallest settlement in the county. However, in 2009, initial planning permission was granted for a significant expansion of the village by the Muir Group. A proposal to build over 1,200 houses, shops, hotel and golf course has been agreed by the council, despite some opposition by local residents.

Harviestoun is an estate in Tillicoultry parish, Clackmannanshire, central Scotland. It lies at the base of the Ochil Hills, around 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) east of Tillicoultry and 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) west of Dollar.
