It is a small farming community in the low alluvial plains of central Umbria; its principal crop is grapes for wine. About 2 km north of the village is the roadside shrine of Pian d' Arca commemorating the miracle of St. Francis of Assisi and the birds.

San Francesco is a gothic-style, former Roman Catholic church located in Montefalco, Province of Perugia, region of Umbria, Italy. The church and adjacent Franciscan convent now functions as the civic art museum. The portal of the church dates to 1585. The church and adjacent convent were constructed between 1335 and 1338. The most notable works are the fresco cycles by Benozzo Gozzoli decorating the St. Girolamo Chapel and the apse; these include Life of St. Francis (1542). Jacopo Vincioli, Giovanni di Corraduccio and Ascensidonio Spacca also decorated the lateral chapels, and the site also includes an Annunciation with God the Father in Glory between Angels and the Nativity (1503) by Pietro Vannucci, known as “Il Perugino”. The convent also has works by Francesco Melanzio from Montefalco. The museum also displays frescoes from the followers of Alunno and Antoniazzo Romano. Archeological findings and marble gravestone fragments are displayed in the Crypt.

The church, originally founded alongside a female monastery, was dedicated to Illuminata of Todi, putatively a martyred saint from the 4th century who lived in a hermitage between Massa Martana and Todi, and gained veneration in this region of Umbria. The church is noted for its early 16th-century frescoes by Francesco Melanzio and others.

Cannara is a town and comune on the Topino River in the floodplain of central Umbria, in the province of Perugia. It is located about 7 km west of Spello and 9 km north of Bevagna. It is a low-key agricultural village: its main business is the growing of wheat and onions. Its railroad station is used for freight and does not serve passengers. As indicated by the etymology of the name (from canna, rushes), it is a medieval town, recent by the standards of the region, since in earlier times the site was underwater in the Lacus Clitorius that covered much of the area between Bastia Umbra and Foligno, and was only drained in the Middle Ages. At any rate Cannara is first mentioned in 1170 as insula Cannaio — "the island of Cannaio"; the lake had not been completely drained yet.

The town's museum is in a former church, which has a fresco cycle on the life of St. Francis by the Florentine artist Benozzo Gozzoli (1450–1452).

Limigiano is a frazione of the comune of Bevagna in the Province of Perugia, Umbria, central Italy. It stands at an elevation of 333 metres above sea level. At the time of the Istat census of 2001 it had 56 inhabitants.Limigiano is a rural village, surrounded by large olive groves. The main point of interest is the Romanesque abbey church of San Michele Arcangelo. While the foundations are from the 11th century, the current structure dates back to the 13th century. The church was extended and altered through several phases of construction, repair, and maintenance in the Middle Ages. Today the church has a naves and two aisles, each finishing in an apse. The church was renovated in 1947 but the beautiful frescoes (some probably by the school of Niccolò Alunno) are in various stages of deterioration, mostly due to the damage from the 1997 Umbria and Marche earthquake and the leaking in of rainwater since then. Of the medieval castle only a few ruins can be found.

Spello (in Antiquity: Hispellum) is an ancient town and comune (township) of Italy, in the province of Perugia in eastern-central Umbria, on the lower southern flank of Mt. Subasio. It is 6 km (4 mi) NNW of Foligno and 10 km (6 mi) SSE of Assisi. The old walled town lies on a regularly NW-SE sloping ridge that eventually meets the plain. From the top of the ridge, Spello commands a good view of the Umbrian plain towards Perugia; at the bottom of the ridge, the town spills out of its walls into a small modern section (or borgo) served by the rail line from Rome to Florence via Perugia.
