William G. Morgan House

Cool Spring Farm — also known as Rockdale Spring Farm and Torytown — was a wilderness estate settled by Colonel Morgan Morgan (1688-1766), long celebrated as the first permanent European settler in what would become West Virginia. The Welsh-born Morgan was granted 1,000 acres (4.0 km2) here in 1735, but he is believed to have first settled there in 1731. Recent research indicates that Morgan's settlement was not the first, but was preceded by a German settlement at what became "New Mecklinberg", possibly as early as 1726. Morgan Morgan's seventh son, Zackquill Morgan (1735-1795), built the house in 1761, but sold the farm in 1765 and moved west to Monongalia County, Virginia, now West Virginia, to establish his namesake settlement of Morgantown in 1781. After changing hands several times, the property was purchased by John McKown, Jr. in 1827. His son Edmund renamed the farm "Rockdale Spring Farm". The sons of John McKown owned considerable lands in the area of Gerrardstown during the late 19th century.

John, David, and Jacob Rees House, also known as Lefevre Farm, is a historic home located at Bunker Hill, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It is an L-shaped, log, stone-and-brick dwelling on a stone foundation. It measures 45 feet wide by 70 feet deep, and was built in three sections, the oldest, three-bay log section dating to about 1760. The two-story, three-bay rubble stone section is in the Federal style and built in 1791. The front section was built about 1855 and is a five-bay-wide, 2+1⁄2-story building in the Greek Revival style. Also on the property is a small stone spring house and log barn.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Morgan-Gold House, also known as "Golden Meadows" or the Samuel Gold House, is a historic home located at Bunker Hill, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It is an L-shaped, three-bay, two-story, log dwelling on a stone foundation. The front section was built about 1809, and is a 20 1/2-feet deep and 30 1/2-feet wide block, with a pedimented portico in the Greek Revival style. The rear part of the ell was built about 1745 by David Morgan, son of the Morgan Morgan the first white settler of West Virginia. Also on the property are three log outbuildings and Victorian-era granary.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

John Drinker House is a historic home located at Bunker Hill, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It was built about 1815 and is a two-story, five-bay, limestone dwelling in the Federal style. It features an arched stone main entrance. The property includes the ruins of a log home that pre-dates the Drinker House, ruins of a stone smokehouse, and the ruins of slave quarters. A dump pile is also located on the property. The house was built by John Drinker (1760–1826), a Quaker portrait artist from Philadelphia. The house is believed to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Washington Gold House, also known as "Mountain View" Farm, is a historic home located near Gerrardstown, Berkeley County, West Virginia, United States. It was built in 1854 and is a two-story,L-shaped brick dwelling in the Greek Revival style. The house is in two sections; the front section is five bays wide and the rear section four bays deep. The front facade features a Victorian entrance porch added about 1890. Also on the property is a carriage house (c. 1890) and small long cabin, known as the Rippey cabin (c. 1760) for the original owner.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Morris Rees III House, also known as George McKown House and Springvale, is a historic home located near Gerrardstown, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It was built about 1805 and is a two-story, three-bay, gable roofed stone house in the Federal style. It sits on a cut stone foundation and features a one-story, one-bay portico supported by Tuscan order columns. The portch was built about 1980 and is a replica of the original. Also on the property are a frame kitchen / living quarters (c. 1850), a frame stable (c. 1900), a barn (c. 1890), tractor shed (c. 1900), a stone spring house (c. 1805), a cinder block garage (c. 1950), and a metal grain bin (c. 1909).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Gilbert and Samuel McKown House, also known as "Marshy Dell", is a historic home located near Gerrardstown, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It is a large two story, four bay wide log dwelling. The eastern section of the house was built by Gilbert McKown about 1774; the other section was added by his son Samuel about 1810. Also on the property is a 1+1⁄2-story stone outbuilding.Marshy Dell was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Gerrardstown Historic District is a national historic district located at Gerrardstown, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It encompasses 92 contributing buildings, 4 contributing sites, and 2 contributing structures. Notable commercial buildings include the Gerrardstown Corner Store (c. 1900), Wiest Antiques Store (c. 1900), Richard McCormick Store, Charles Crim Store, and David S. Griffith General Store. Most houses are 2 1/2 stories and are representative of a number of popular architectural styles including Queen Anne, Federal, and Greek Revival. Religious properties include the Presbyterian Church (1893) and Cemetery and Southern Methodist Episcopal Church (1883). Also included is the Lutheran Cemetery with burials dating to 1818. Located within the district is the separately listed Hays-Gerrard House.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Hays-Gerrard House is a historic home located at Gerrardstown, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It was built about 1743 and is a two-story, three bay wide limestone dwelling. It measures 16 feet by 27 feet and has a steeply pitched gable roof. The property was the site of the first Baptist church in the area and home to Rev. John Gerrard, first Baptist minister west of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The house was restored in the 1970s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It is located within the Gerrardstown Historic District, listed in 1991.

Mill Creek Historic District is a national historic district located at Bunker Hill, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It encompasses nine contributing buildings, eight contributing sites, and three contributing objects that relate to an early industrial-commercial center in the county. They include: the Mill Creek Bridge (c. 1914), Henry Sherrard Mill (c. 1790), Robert Daniels House (c. 1790), John Gray House, Henshaw Log House (c. 1820), "Springhill" (late 18th century), Henshaw Miller's House (c. 1780), "Springfield" (c. 1775), Holliday Mill Sites, Bunker Hill Cumberland Valley Railroad Bridge, Stephenson's Tavern, Morgan Park including two State markers and monument (1924) to Morgan Morgan, Elisha Boyd Mill Sites, Joel Ward Mill ruins, Bunker Hill Mill Complex, and Joel Ward House (c. 1750, burned 1988).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Edgewood, also known as the John Boyd House, is a historic home located at Bunker Hill, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It was built in 1839 and is a two-story, five-bay, brick dwelling with a gable roof in the Greek Revival style. The entrance features a semi-elliptical transom and sidelights. The building has a two-story rear ell. The property includes a small log slave cabin.The house was built by General Elisha Boyd for his son John as the plantation house for the 1,400 acre Edgewood Manor plantation. During the American Civil War, John Boyd served in the Confederate Army and was captured when he visited home. He was nearly executed, but for the intervention of President Zachary Taylor's daughter, Mrs. Dandridge. Also during the war, General Stonewall Jackson camped on the lawn. Confederate General J. Johnston Pettigrew (July 4, 1828 – July 17, 1863) died in an upstairs bedroom at Edgewood after having been shot at Falling Waters during the retreat from the Battle of Gettysburg.The Boyd family lost the house after the Civil War, but many subsequent owners maintained it. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, as was the nearby John Drinker House, which may have served as a stop on the Underground Railroad.
