Letchworth Village

North Rockland High School (NRHS) is public, co-educational high school located in Thiells, New York, serving 9th to 12th grade students from the northern section of Rockland County, in southern New York. The building was formerly used as an education center for the nearby Letchworth Village mental institution. In the 1970s it transitioned to a high school for the public following an expansion of the Willowbrook State School in Staten Island, New York. Today, it is the only high school in the North Rockland Central School District. In 2018, U.S. News & World Report recognized North Rockland High School in its annual national rankings and earned a bronze medal based on their performance on state-required tests and how well they prepare students for college.During the COVID-19 global pandemic, NRHS was one of the first school districts in the Hudson Valley area to launch an experimental hybrid learning program.

Thiells, known as Thiell's Corner in the 1850s, is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of Mount Ivy, east of Pomona, south of Tomkins Cove, and west of Garnerville. The population was 5,240 as of the 2020 census.During the American Revolution, Thiells was known as Haverstraw Forge, where General "Mad" Anthony Wayne, leading 1,350 Continental Army troops, was able to watch the area of Stony Point.

Stony Point District School No. 4, also known as the Pyngyp School, is a historic one-room school building located near Stony Point in Rockland County, New York. It was built about 1915, and is a one-story, rectangular wood-frame building with modest Gothic style detailing. It has a steeply pitched gable roof topped by belfry and two entry doors. A rear frame addition was constructed in the 1970s. The school closed in 1945, after which it was used as a community center.: 3, 6 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Mount Ivy is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Haverstraw, in Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of New City, east of Pomona, south of Thiells, and west of Garnerville. The population was 6,878 at the 2010 census.

Stony Point is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. The town is located north of the town of Haverstraw, east and south of Orange County, and west of the Hudson River and Westchester County. The population was 14,813 at the 2020 census. The name of the town is derived from a prominent projection into the Hudson River. The town is in the northeastern part of the county. U.S. Route 9W, U.S. Route 202, and the Palisades Interstate Parkway are major north-south routes through the town. Stony Point is included in the North Rockland Central School District. It is the most rural of the five towns in Rockland County.

The Henry Varnum Poor House, also known as the "Crow House", is a historic home located on South Mountain Road at New City in Rockland County, New York. It was built between about 1920 and 1949 by artist Henry Varnum Poor (1887–1970). It combines elements of rustic Arts and Crafts movement vernacular with elements of the modern movement. Also on the property are a studio dated to 1957; a small half-timbered mill building, 1921; woodshop, circa 1920–1930; an outdoor kiln from 1957; bridge, circa 1950; and a terraced garden, 1926.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. About the same time the town of Ramapo purchased the house for $1.3 million with help of a $496,000 grant from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. There were also plans for contribution of furnishings and art from family heir Peter Varnum Poor, but collections and restoration efforts made little progress through 2015.

Garnerville, previously known as Calicotown, is a hamlet in the town of Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York, United States, located north of New York City; east of Mount Ivy; south of Stony Point and west of West Haverstraw. Most of the hamlet is within the West Haverstraw village, while a small portion of Garnerville defaults to the town of Haverstraw. The hamlet was named after the Garner family, who operated a textile printing industry called Garner Printworks on Minisceongo Creek near Railroad Avenue beginning in 1838. East of where the Garner printworks operated is the abandoned Calico Hill Cemetery. The community is bisected by U.S. Route 202. The Haverstraw town hall is located in the hamlet, along with several small shopping centers and the King's Daughters Library. The schools in Garnerville include North Garnerville Elementary School and St. Gregory Barbarigo Parochial School; the hamlet is part of the North Rockland Central School District. Rockland Community College symbolically recognized David J. Rojas of Garnerville as the "millionth graduate" of the State University of New York (SUNY) at the 46th commencement ceremony held on June 3, 2007.

Contempora House is a historic home located at New City in Rockland County, New York. It is a Streamline Moderne style dwelling built in 1934–1935. The property consists of the main house with detached studio. The buildings are constructed of concrete and cinderblock with steel and wood framing and a stucco exterior. It was designed by architect and planner Paul Lester Wiener (1895–1967).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Stony Point is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Stony Point, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of West Haverstraw, east of Harriman State Park, south of Tomkins Cove, and west of the Hudson River. The population was 12,147 at the 2010 census.The community is in the eastern part of the town of Stony Point.

Stony Point Center is one of three conference centers of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The other two conference and retreat centers are Ghost Ranch and Montreat. Stony Point Center welcomes people of all faiths and nations to discern, discover, learn, and lead. Stony Point Center is located on 32 acres (13 ha) in the Hudson River Valley in the town of Stony Point, New York, 30 miles (48 km) north of Manhattan. The facility began about 150 years ago as a ministry of hospitality shaped by four daughters of a Presbyterian minister. In a given year, the center with its 180-bed campus welcomes a wide variety of groups who come to hold their own programs/retreats. Stony Point Center sponsors programming focused on nonviolence, peace and justice, environment, spiritual practices, and church issues. Since 2009, it has been the spiritual home of the Community of Living Traditions. Stony Point Center is a Ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA). In 2000, Stony Point Center established the "John Garcia Gensel Award for Integrating Faith and the Arts"; the first award was given that year to Dave Brubeck.

Penguin Rep is a nonprofit theater company in Stony Point, New York, now in its 42nd season. Penguin Rep, dubbed "the gutsiest little theatre" by the New York Times, was founded by Joe Brancato, artistic director, with the aim of adding a new kind of theatre to the local cultural landscape: a professional enterprise dedicated to promoting new voices and works which enrich the body of American drama; nurturing and developing new talent for the stage; and reaching new audiences for theatre. Under the leadership of Mr. Brancato, cited by The New York Times as "one of America's insightful young directors", and Executive Director Andrew M. Horn, the company has attracted more than 150,000 audience members from the lower Hudson Valley and beyond to its intimate 108-seat theatre. Penguin Rep has presented more than 100 critically and popularly acclaimed productions, including premieres by such playwrights as Warren Leight (author of Side Man), Arthur Laurents (West Side Story), Elizabeth Swados (Runaways), William Mastrosimone (Extremities), and Ronald Harwood (Taking Sides).

West Haverstraw is a village incorporated in 1883 in the town of Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located northwest of Haverstraw village, east of Thiells, south of the hamlet of Stony Point, and west of the Hudson River. The population was 10,165 at the 2010 census. The majority of the hamlet of Garnerville is contained in the village of West Haverstraw.
