Drumcar House (later: St. Mary's Hospital; currently: Saint John of God Residence) is a manor house in the historical parish of Drumcar in the barony of Ardee, 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of Dunleer, County Louth, Leinster, Ireland. The house was built in 1777. It was home to the McClintock family from then to the 1940s, stemming from Alexander McClintock (1692–1775). One of its best known owners was John McClintock (1770–1855), a magistrate for County Louth, and formerly Serjeant at Arms in the Irish House of Commons, who was known to be occupying the estate in 1805 and until his death. The house was sold in about 1903 by The 2nd Baron Rathdonnell to his cousin, Frank McClintock (1853–1924), Rector of Drumcar and Dean of Armagh. In 1948, it became St. Mary's Hospital, a colony for the mentally ill. Still later, it was converted to Saint John of God Residence, a hospital/infirmary. Drumcar House is listed in the Record of Protected Structures maintained by Louth County Council.

Dunleer railway station

Dunleer railway station is a disused railway station on the Dublin-Belfast railway line in Dunleer, County Louth Ireland. Opened by the Dublin and Belfast Junction Railway in 1851, the station was the major stop between Dundalk and Drogheda. The station survived longer than most following the rationalisation of the railway network, until it was closed by Córas Iompair Éireann in 1984. In the late 20th century, Dunleer's population expanded and it "developed into a local transport hub". As of 2010, the local Dunleer Community Development Board were calling for the railway station to be reopened. While the possibility of the station being rebuilt was referenced in local development plans published in 2009 by Louth County Council, as of 2021 the National Transport Authority reportedly had "no plans" for a station at Dunleer.

Linn Duachaill

Linn Duachaill (Irish pronunciation: [ˌl̠ʲiːn̠ʲ ˈd̪ˠuəxəl̠ʲ]; "Duachall's pool") is the name of a Viking longphort near the village of Annagassan, County Louth, Ireland. The settlement was built in 841 CE, the same time as the settlement of Dubh Linn, or Dublin. In contrast to Dublin, the settlement was abandoned. It has been argued that possibly because of changing tidal patterns, it lacked continuous access to the sea. The tides would have made access to the water difficult for a number of hours per day.

Dunleer

Dunleer (Irish: Dún Léire) is a town and townland in County Louth, Ireland. Dunleer is situated midway between Dundalk and Drogheda and is located on the junction of the R132, R169 and R170 regional roads that intersect the town. As of the 2022 census, the town had a population of 2,143. Dunleer used to be the principal town borough in the historical barony of Ferrard and has a charter dating back to 1252. The town is in a civil parish of the same name.
