As of the 2011 census, the administrative unit of Vaqarr had an estimated population of 9,106 of whom 4,838 were men and 4,268 women. The Lake of Vaqarr has become a popular recreation area in the municipality of Tirana.

Tirana County (Albanian: Qarku Tiranë), officially the County of Tirana (Albanian: Qarku i Tiranës), is a county in the Central Region of Albania. It is the tenth largest by area and the most populous of the twelve counties, with more than 912,000 people within an area of 1,652 km2 (638 sq mi). The county borders on the Adriatic Sea to the west, the counties of Durrës to the northwest, Dibër to the northeast, Elbasan to the east and Fier to the southwest. It is divided into five municipalities, Tirana, Kamëz, Kavajë, Rrogozhinë and Vorë, with all of whom incorporate twenty-nine administrative units. Geographically, Tirana extends from the high and rugged Skanderbeg Mountains in the east to the flat shores of the Albanian Adriatic Sea Coast along the Mediterranean Sea. Two of the country's fourteen National Parks are located in the county, with Dajti in the center and Divjakë-Karavasta in the southwest. Historically, Tirana has been populated since Paleolithic times dating back 10,000 to 30,000 years ago. As argued by various archaeologists, the populated places are filled with Ancient Illyrian toponyms, as its precincts are some of the earliest regions in Albania to be inhabited. Nevertheless, the city of Tirana was established as a city centuries later in 1614 during the Ottoman occupation of Albania. The capital of the county is Tirana, which is also the largest city by area and population in Albania. A gamma-world-city, it is the most influential economic and political center of the country.

Kombinat is a southwestern suburb of Tirana, Albania, located about 6 kilometres from the main centre. It contains a number of landmarks related to Joseph Stalin including an old statue (located on Garibaldi Square) and an old textiles factory. Kombinat Stalin Textiles Factory once employed up to 2000 workers and was capable of an ultimate annual capacity of 2,0000,000 square meters of cotton cloth. It also contains an old coal factory and a bus station near the statue and square. The football club FK Kombinati is based in Kombinat as the headquarters of Coca-Cola Albania.

Universal Hospital Tirana is one of the largest and the most comprehensive private hospitals in the country. The hospital belongs to Ege Saglik Tesisleri ve Egitim Muesseseleri AS, a Turkish company based in Izmir/Turkey and the majority shareholder of this company is Universal Saglik Yatirimlari Holding, again a Turkish company based in Istanbul/Turkey and chaired by Azmi Ofluoglu. Universal Tirana has a main hospital building which houses all inpatient facilities such as patient rooms, two catheterization laboratories, 5 surgical operating suites, intensive care, emergency services, nursery and neonatology, and labor and delivery. The main building also has outpatient services such as the Clinical Laboratory Services, Radiology, and Physical Therapy. The Polyclinic building contains various outpatient services from lasik surgery to dialysis. Universal Hospital Tirana's Clinical Laboratory has the capacity to serve over 500 patients per day and produce 10,000 analyses per day using the equipment from around the world. The lab is also a reference lab, which operates at international standards.

Internacional Complex (Albanian: Kompleksi Internacional) is a football training facility located in Pezë Helmës, Tiranë, Albania. The complex consists of two football stadiums, the 1,000 seater Pezë Helmës Stadium and the 500 seater Pezë Helmës Stadium II. It is opened and operated by Internacional Tirana, and some Albanian football clubs use the facility for training such as Kukësi and Partizani. Many lower league sides use the facility to host games, as both stadiums meet the licensing requirements to host games up to the Albanian First Division.
