Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU or MEDUNSA; Afrikaans: Die Mediese Universiteit van Suid-Afrika) is a university in Ga-Rankuwa, Gauteng Province, South Africa. Its current incarnation was formed on 1 January 2015. Previously it was known as Medical University of South Africa (MEDUNSA) and later as a campus of the University of Limpopo. It is named after South African ANC leader Sefako Makgatho. Since its name-change, students have colloquially referred to the institution using the acronym of its current name ("SMU") in a similar fashion to manner in which they used the acronym "MEDUNSA" to refer to the institution prior to the change of name.

Rosslyn is an industrial suburb of Akasia, 29 km north-west of Pretoria and part of the City of Tshwane Municipality in the Gauteng province of South Africa.This industrialized area is best known for its automotive industry, in particular the BMW South Africa factory, which opened in 1968, BMW's first factory outside Europe as well as the Nissan South Africa factory, manufacturing a vast range of motor vehicles, trucks, light delivery vans (LDV's, locally known as bakkies) and 4X4 offroaders and the IVECO too has a plant.In 2012, vehicle manufacturing plants in South Africa contributed about 6.2% to the country's gross domestic product.

The Orchards is a suburb in the mainplace Akasia of Gauteng, South Africa. It is situated to the north west of the Pretoria CBD and borders Rosslyn on its north western corner.

Chantelle is a suburb of Akasia in Gauteng, South Africa. It is situated to the north west of Pretoria and in the south western corner of Akasia. It used to be a predominantly Afrikaans speaking suburb for many young white residents, but the demography has changed since the end of apartheid in 1994.

Akasia is a complex of suburbs north of Pretoria, part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. Formerly an independent municipality, the area surrounding Akasia is largely semi-rural and Akasia itself is built on former agricultural holdings.

Orchards is a suburb of Pretoria in Gauteng, South Africa. It is located north west of the Pretoria CBD, and central to the mainplace Akasia. It has a population of 7,778 (2011) with a population Density of 2,100/km² (1.43 sq mi).

Odi Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Mabopane, South Africa. It was used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 60,000. It was the home stadium of Garankuwa United football team. Odi Stadium is situated in Mabopane, in the north of Pretoria, within the jurisdiction of Tshwane Metropolitan Council. The stadium consists of an uncovered grandstand, secondary, four rectangular, two small triangular stands and twenty floating stands, giving the stadium a seating capacity of over fifty thousand seats. The stadium was constructed in the late 1980s and boasts many facilities, including a soccer field, athletics track, field events (long jump, high jump, javelin throw, hammer throw, etc.), two changing rooms, four sets of male and female restrooms, four kiosks, VIP lounge & seating, security room, referee room, press room, control room, admin offices, generator room, stores, several indoor sporting areas, four high masts and four ticketing offices. Precinct facilities outside the stadium include a club house, caretaker house, combi courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball and two informal soccer training grounds. The stadium design is almost identical to that of Mmabatho Stadium located in Mahikeng. The stadium has since been neglected and vandalized. Local residents have protested in demand that it be demolished because it has become unsafe for children that still practice and train there despite the unhealthy and unsafe conditions.

Karenpark is a suburb of Akasia in Gauteng, South Africa. It is situated to the north west of the Pretoria CBD and in the south wescorner of the mainplace Akasia. Amandasig is a suburb of the mainplace Akasia in Gauteng, South Africa. It is situated to the north west of the Pretoria CBD, on the slopes of the Magaliesberg. It used to be a predominantly Afrikaans speaking suburb for many young white residents, but the demography has changed since the end of apartheid in 1994. During Apartheid, Amandasig was a "Whites Only" area, as determined by the time's government. This Area is not situated far from the North West province, nor Pretoria CBD. Amandasig has much uncapped historical significance. This area is in close proximity to the unfortunately shadowed Theo Martins Poort, placed between the Magaliesburg; which had visual religious, and recreational chalk and paint markings.

Soshanguve Giant Stadium, commonly referred to as Giant, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Soshanguve, a township of Pretoria, South Africa. It was utilized as a training field for teams participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup after being rebuilt in 2009. Besides serving as a training venue for the World Cup, it was also used as a public viewing area for residents to watch matches.Currently the stadium is the home for JDR Stars F.C. and Soshanguve Sunshine F.C., playing in the North West Province of Vodacom League. However, the stadium is situated a few kilometers within the border of the Gauteng province.

Soshanguve is a township situated about 30 km north of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa along Mabopane, and Ga-Rankuwa. The name Soshanguve is an acronym for Sotho, Shangaan, Nguni and Venda, thus showing the multi-ethnic composition of the population. The major African languages of South Africa are heard in Soshanguve.

Lady Selborne is a settlement located near Pretoria. It is in Gauteng province. It was established in 1905 as an area where anyone could buy and own land. As apartheid took hold the authorities eventually found a rationale for removing the residents and the houses were bulldozed in 1963. In 2017 the place was being reformed and former residents were claiming reparation of their lands.
