Parkdale—High Park (provincial electoral district)

Parkdale—High Park is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1979. It was created during the 1976 electoral boundaries redistribution from parts of Parkdale, High Park—Humber Valley, Davenport and Spadina districts. As of the October 19, 2015, Canadian general election, the current Member of Parliament (MP) is Liberal member Arif Virani. According to the 2016 Census, Parkdale—High Park has the lowest percentage of visible minorities (26.2%) among all City of Toronto ridings; it also has the highest percentage of people of Irish (20.0%), German (9.8%), and French (8.9%) ethnic origin of all City of Toronto ridings.

Wendigo Creek was a short watercourse in Toronto, Ontario, that drained into Grenadier Pond. It was spring fed, like nearby Spring Creek. Its headwaters were north of Bloor Street, near Dundas Street and Laws Street.Tributaries joined the main channel at Clendenan Street and Glendonwynne Street, north of High Park.The creek's steeply sloped ravine was 15 metres (49 ft) deep where it crossed Bloor, until that portion was filled in, in 1915. A conduit carried the creek under the embankment. Currently, storm sewers empty into channelized open remnant of the creek, south of Bloor, in the north end of High Park.Sediment washed down the creek, formed a sandbar, at the outlet of Grenadier Pond, sealing it off, as a separate pond.A follower of John Harvey Kellogg, William McCormick, and his wife, both medical doctors, built a sanatorium at 32 Gothic Avenue, along the creek's banks, in 1905. The pair built "mineral baths", claiming the spring-fed creek had special health benefits. When the McCormicks shut down the sanatorium the mineral baths were turned into official city swimming pools.

High Park is a subway station on Line 2 Bloor–Danforth of the Toronto subway in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located just north of Bloor Street West, spanning the block east of Quebec Avenue to High Park Avenue. It opened in 1968 as part of the westerly extension from Keele to Islington station. The Runnymede Theatre is a historic building located in Bloor West Village, an affluent west end Toronto neighbourhood. The building has operated as a vaudeville theatre, a movie theatre, a bingo hall, and a Chapters bookstore. The building is now a Shoppers Drug Mart.

High Park Forest School is a former special school in High Park, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was a school founded to provide a boost to children who were tubercular or had other physical detriments. Today, it is an outdoor environmental education facility run by a local non-profit organization called the High Park Nature Centre. It is located in High Park west of downtown, on Colborne Lodge Road.

Bloor West Village is a shopping district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Located along Bloor Street, it encompasses all businesses along Bloor Street between South Kingsway and Ellis Park Road, consisting of more than 400 shops, restaurants and services. The mix of stores include specialty clothing stores, book stores, restaurants and cafes. The businesses organized in 1970 into the first mandatory business improvement district, an idea that has spread to numerous other commercial streets in Toronto and to cities around the world.

High Park is a municipal park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. High Park is a mixed recreational and natural park, with sporting facilities, cultural facilities, educational facilities, gardens, playgrounds and a zoo. One-third of the park remains in a natural state, with a rare oak savannah ecology. High Park was opened to the public in 1876 and is based on a bequest of land from John George Howard to the City of Toronto. It spans 161 hectares (400 acres) and is the second-largest municipal park in Toronto, after Centennial Park. High Park is located to the west of downtown Toronto, north of Humber Bay, and is maintained by the City of Toronto Parks Department. It stretches south from Bloor Street West to The Queensway, just north of Lake Ontario. It is bounded on the west by Ellis Park Road and Grenadier Pond and on the east by Parkside Drive.

Westminster-Branson is a neighbourhood in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is in the northernmost part of the city within the area of North York. Branson is located along Finch Avenue, west of Bathurst Street and east of the west branch of the Don River. Westminster is located just to the north, across the Westminster Cemetery. It is also known as Fisherville, after the former town on the site. It stretches north to Steeles Avenue, and the northern border of Toronto. It is bounded on the south by Bloor Street, on the west by Runnymede Road, on the north by Annette Street, Quebec Avenue and Humberside Avenue, and on the east by the GO Transit Weston Subdivision rail tracks (formerly owned by Canadian National Railway). It is located in the Parkdale—High Park provincial and federal electoral districts. The area east of Keele Street is also known informally as the "West Bend" neighbourhood.

Western Technical-Commercial School (WTCS) is a high school in the High Park North neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada oversighted by the Toronto District School Board. It shares the same building with Ursula Franklin Academy and The Student School. The school was founded in 1927 and was part of the Toronto Board of Education until 1998. Originally two schools when it was opened, Western Branch Technical School and Western High School of Commerce, the present school is now the product of the merger of the two. Western, commonly referred to as WTCS or Western Tech, offers courses from grade 9 through 12 in Applied, Academic, or Gifted/Enriched levels. The gifted/enriched department is one of many highlights, taken by students who have been identified as gifted or applied as enriched.

Swansea is a neighbourhood in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, bounded on the west by the Humber River, on the north by Bloor Street, on the east by High Park and on the south by Lake Ontario. The neighbourhood was originally a separate municipality, the Village of Swansea, which was annexed by the City of Toronto in 1967.
