West Ridge Academy (known as the Utah Boys Ranch until 2005), is a youth residential treatment center based in West Jordan, Utah, USA. It seeks to provide clinical services, education, and other programs for teens, both girls and boys, that are identified as at risk. Until 2005, the Utah Boys Ranch was male-only. In early 2005, it opened new, separate facilities for girls and changed its name to West Ridge Academy. It is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation under the name Children and Youth Services, Inc. The academy states that it provides "quality clinical services, education, and experiences which promote spiritual awareness, personal accountability and change of heart." The facility has received criticism for past abusive practices toward residents, including facing lawsuits in 2008, 2010, and 2012 by former students. In 2016, the application to transition West Ridge Academy into a charter school, named Eagle Summit Academy, was approved by the Utah Board of Education after including caveats to keep public and private funding separate in the school's budgets and to ensure the safety of the new charter school's students.West Ridge also provides a day program called Sunshine Solutions for underprivileged local kids, age five and up which provides "summer activities, positive mentors and emotional growth to help them learn how to make good decisions". The school is Christian but non-denominational, with the majority of students belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).

Itineris Early College High School is an independent public charter school that first opened in 2004. It was located in West Jordan, Utah, USA, on the campus of Salt Lake Community College. In 2014, The school was relocated to a new building nearby the Salt Lake Community College campus. The school enables attendees to earn their associate’s degree concurrent with their high school diploma. Itineris has a wide variety of courses ranging from the sciences and mathematics to English and history. In junction with Salt Lake Community College, Itineris also has classes taught outside the campus that will help students achieve enough credits to receive their associate degree in biotechnology or general studies. Students can achieve up to two years of college credit at the same time as they are earning a high school diploma. Itineris Early College High School shares similar characteristics of other early college high schools that have been shown to improve learning and academic success for students. Currently, there are more than twenty early college high schools in the US. The Jobs for the Future Early College High School Initiative, sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in partnership with the Carnegie Corporation of New York, The Ford Foundation, and The W.K. Kellogg Foundation, has awarded more than $50 million in grant money to support approximately 100 new schools over the next five years.

Kennecott Utah Copper LLC (KUC), a division of Rio Tinto Group, is a mining, smelting, and refining company. Its corporate headquarters are located in South Jordan, Utah. Kennecott operates the Bingham Canyon Mine, one of the largest open-pit copper mines in the world in Bingham Canyon, Salt Lake County, Utah. The company was first formed in 1898 as the Boston Consolidated Mining Company. The current corporation was formed in 1989. The mine and associated smelter produce 1% of the world's copper.

The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple is a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located in South Jordan, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City. South Jordan was the first city in the world to have two temples (it also has the Jordan River Temple). The temple was the fourth in the Salt Lake Valley and the 13th in the state of Utah. The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple serves approximately 83,000 Latter-day Saints living in the western Salt Lake Valley. The building is faced with light beige granite quarried and milled in China.

Daybreak is a master-planned community over 4,000 acres (16 km²) in size that began construction in 2004 under the direction of land development company Kennecott Land (a subsidiary of Rio Tinto Group) in South Jordan, Utah. In 2016, the balance of the land holding was sold to Minneapolis-based investment firm Värde Partners, and a new development company called Daybreak Communities was formed to continue development of the project. On April 12, 2021, is was announced that the remaining 1,300 undeveloped acres were sold to Larry H. Miller Real Estate. The community is expected to continue building for the next 18 to 20 years. When completed, it could contain more than 20,000 residential units and approximately 9.1 million square feet (850,000 m²) of commercial space.

South Jordan Downtown is a light rail station in the Daybreak community of South Jordan, Utah, served by the Red Line of the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) TRAX light rail system. The station is the penultimate station southwestern end of the Red Line, which provides service from Daybreak Parkway station to the University of Utah.

The Ballpark at America First Square is a baseball park under construction in South Jordan, Utah, United States, which is scheduled to open in spring 2025. It will be the home of the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees of the Pacific Coast League. The ballpark will replace the Bees' former home, Smith's Ballpark, where the team has played since its founding in 1994. In May 2023, Miller Sports + Entertainment (MSE) released renderings of The Ballpark at America First Square. The stadium was designed by HOK and it is being built by Okland Construction. The Ballpark is designed to meet the requirements of Major League Baseball teams. Its design includes a 12,000-sq.-ft. clubhouse, training and player development areas, and multiple batting cages. The stadium is a privately funded venture by Miller Sports + Entertainment, owners of the Bees. It is part of a larger mixed-use entertainment district within the master-planned Daybreak Community, which is expected to take more than 15 years to complete. By October 17, 2024, the playing grass was fully installed. The right and left field walls are 345 ft (105 m) feet away from the home plate as measured along the foul line. The distance from home plate to the center field wall is 420 ft (130 m) feet. The Utah Transit Authority has announced a new station on the TRAX Red Line to serve the stadium. The City of Jordan, the Utah Department of Transportation, and the Larry H. Miller Company to reduce the impact of the stadium on local traffic. Access points are being constructed to allow cars to enter the stadium's parking lot from Mountain View Corridor. “Texas U-Turns,” will allow drivers to make a U-turn without having to pass through intersections with traffic lights. Trails are planned to encourage access via foot and bicycle. The field is oriented east to provide a view of the Wasatch Mountains.

West Jordan is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. It is a suburb of Salt Lake City and has a mixed economy. According to the 2020 Census, the city had a population of 116,961, placing it as the third most populous in the state. The city occupies the southwest end of the Salt Lake Valley at an elevation of 4,330 feet (1,320 m). Named after the nearby Jordan River, the limits of the city begin on the river's western bank and end in the eastern foothills of the Oquirrh Mountains, where Kennecott Copper Mine, the world's largest man-made excavation, is located. Settled in the mid-19th century, the city has developed into its own regional center. As of 2012, the city has four major retail centers; with Jordan Landing being one of the largest mixed-use planned developments in the Intermountain West. Companies headquartered in West Jordan include Mountain America Credit Union, Lynco Sales & Service, SME Steel, and Cyprus Credit Union. The city has one major hospital, Jordan Valley Medical Center, and a campus of Salt Lake Community College. City landmarks include Gardner Village, established in 1850, and South Valley Regional Airport, formerly known as "Salt Lake Airport #2". The airport serves general aviation operations as well as a base for the 211th Aviation Regiment of the Utah Army National Guard flying Apache and Black Hawk helicopters.
