The Jewish Agency for Israel (Hebrew: הסוכנות היהודית לארץ ישראל, romanized: HaSochnut HaYehudit L'Eretz Yisra'el) formerly known as the Jewish Agency for Palestine, is the largest Jewish non-profit organization in the world. It was established in 1929 as the operative branch of the World Zionist Organization (WZO). The stated mission of the Agency is to "ensure that every Jewish person feels an unbreakable bond to one another and to Israel no matter where they live in the world, so that they can continue to play their critical role in our ongoing Jewish story."It is best-known as the primary organization fostering the immigration of Jews in diaspora to the Land of Israel (known as aliyah) and overseeing their integration with the State of Israel. Since 1948, the Jewish Agency has brought 3 million immigrants to Israel, and offers them transitional housing in "absorption centers" throughout the country.The Jewish Agency played a central role in the founding and the development of the State of Israel. David Ben-Gurion served as its Chairman of the Executive Committee from 1935, and in this capacity on 14 May 1948, he proclaimed Israel's independence, following which he served as the first Israeli prime minister. In the years preceding the founding of Israel, the Jewish Agency oversaw the establishment of about 1,000 towns and villages in the British Mandate of Palestine. The organization serves as the main link between Israel and Jewish communities around the world.By law, the Jewish Agency is a parastatal organization, but does not receive core funding from the Israeli government. The Jewish Agency is funded by the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), Keren Hayesod, major Jewish communities and federations, and foundations and donors from Israel and around the world. In 2008, the Jewish Agency won the Israel Prize for its historical contribution to Israel and to the Jewish community worldwide.

The Great Synagogue of Jerusalem, (Hebrew: בֵּית הַכְּנֶסֶת הַגָּדוֹל בּיְרוּשָׁלַיִם), is located at 56 King George Street, Jerusalem. Rabbi Zalman Druck was the spiritual leader from the synagogue's establishment until his death on 11 December 2009.

Heichal Shlomo (Hekhal of Solomon: Hebrew: היכל שְׁלֹמֹה, Heikhal Shlomo; meaning 'Palace of Solomon') is the former seat of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. It is located adjacent to the Great Synagogue on King George Street, Jerusalem, opposite the Leonardo Plaza Hotel. It is the Jerusalem Campus of Herzog College and houses the Jewish Heritage Center and Museum of Jewish Art.

Leonardo Plaza Jerusalem Hotel is a luxury hotel located in central Jerusalem on King George Street. The hotel is across the street from Heichal Shlomo and the Jerusalem Great Synagogue.

Ratisbonne Monastery (Hebrew: מנזר רטיסבון) is a monastery in the Rehavia neighborhood of Jerusalem, Israel, established by Marie-Alphonse Ratisbonne, a French convert from Judaism. Work on the building, designed by the French architect M. Daumat, began in 1874 on a barren hill, now in the center of West Jerusalem.

Paris Square (Hebrew: כיכר פריז, Kikar Pariz, also called: France Square = Kikar Tzarfat) is a town square in Rehavia, Jerusalem. The name France Square was established in 1959. In 2007 the city of Paris gave Jerusalem a "French Fountain" that was built in the middle of the square. From that time the square has been called: "Paris Square". The square is near the official residence of the Prime Minister of Israel and became a major protest site during the 2020-21 protests against Benjamin Netanyahu.

Rehavia Gymnasium or the Jerusalem Rehavia Gymnasium, by its Hebrew name Gymnasia Rehavia (Hebrew: גמנסיה רחביה, romanized: Gimnazya Rehavya), is a high school in the Rehavia neighborhood in West Jerusalem.

The Café Moment bombing was a Palestinian suicide bombing of a coffee shop in downtown Jerusalem, that killed 11 Israeli civilians and left 54 others wounded. It was carried out on March 9, 2002, during the Second Intifada.

The Conservative Yeshiva is a co-educational institute for study of traditional Jewish texts in Jerusalem. The yeshiva was founded in 1995, and is under the auspices of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. The current Roshei Yeshiva are Joel Levy and Joshua Kulp. The Yeshiva offers Jews from outside the Orthodox world the opportunity to gain the advanced Jewish learning and communal experiences provided by attending a yeshiva. It uses a synthesis of traditional and critical methods, allowing Jewish texts and tradition to encounter social change and modern scholarship. The curriculum focuses on classical Jewish subjects, including Talmud, Tanakh, Midrash, halakha, and philosophy. Learning is conducted in the traditional yeshiva method (shiur and chavruta) with an openness to modern scholarship. The Conservative Yeshiva's educational programs include the one-year program, advanced studies program, summer program, winter break program, and Nativ pre-college Yeshiva Track.

Terra Sancta College of Jerusalem serves as the cultural centre of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land and as a succursal institution (dependency) of Saint Saviour's Latin parish. It was initially created in the 1920s as a school for the children of Jerusalem, regardless of their religious affiliation. It stands at the soutwestern extremity of the Talbiyeh neighbourhood of West Jerusalem, on the corner of Paris Square.

The Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center for Conservative Judaism is the central organization for Conservative Judaism in Israel. The Fuchsberg Center houses the Conservative Yeshiva, Moreshet Yisrael synagogue, and the Agron Guest House managed by the Israel Youth Hostel Association.

A suicide bombing was carried out on Gaza Street, Jerusalem on January 29, 2004. A Palestinian bomber detonated an explosive belt on an Egged bus #19 traveling between the two campuses of Hadassah Medical Center. Eleven passengers were killed and over 50 people were wounded, 13 of them seriously.
