Lucy Wright Park is a 4.48 acres park in the town of Waimea. The park is named after Lucy Wright, a prominent member of the Waimea community and the first native Hawaiian schoolteacher. Lucy Wright Park is on the southeast side of the mouth of the Waimea River. The Cook Landing Site is accessible from the park. The park provides a shaded pavilion, comfort station, cold showers and picnic tables. Camping is permitted at the park. The ocean water is brackish due to the river mouth situated right next to this park. The park is noted as a good area for surfing.

The Cook Landing Site in Waimea on Kauaʻi island in Hawaii, is where Captain James Cook landed at the mouth of the Waimea River on January 20, 1778. Cook was the first European reported to have sighted the Hawaiian Islands, and the January 20 landfall on southwestern Kauaʻi was his first arrival upon Hawaiian soil. Cook Landing Site was registered as a National Historic Landmark on December 29, 1962. The landing is principally commemorated at Hofgaard Park, a small county park located near the supposed landing site.

Hofgaard Park is a narrow park between Kaumuali'i Highway and Waimea Road in the town of Waimea. The park was named after Judge Christopher Blom Hofgaard who was a resident in Waimea. It features a statue of Captain Cook, which is a replica of an original statue in Whitby, England. The park is dedicated to the historic events of Captain Cook's landing nearby. A timeline of Waimea and Western influence are documented on plaques in the park. Captain James Cook was the first European reported to have sighted the Hawaiian Islands, and the January 20 landfall on southwestern Kauai was his first arrival upon Hawaiian soil. On January 20, 1778, two ships under the command of British navigator Captain James Cook set anchor at the mouth of the Waimea River. The crew was able to converse with the native people having been acquainted with the Tahitian language. They spent two weeks on Kauai provisioning their ships for the journey north. The British explorers were amazed at the finding of Polynesian people on these remote islands. The actual landing site was probably located in what is now Lucy Wright Park, near the mouth of the Waimea River, just south of the town of Waimea. A plaque at the park commemorates Cook's landing on the island.

Waimea (literally, "red water" in Hawaiian) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kauaʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States. The population was 2,057 at the 2020 census. The first Europeans to reach Hawaii landed in Waimea in 1778 (giving rise to Kauai's cheeky slogan: "Hawaii's Original Visitor Destination").

The Waimea River is the largest and the longest river on the island of Kauai in the U.S. state of Hawaii. At 35.7 km (22.2 mi) in length, it is the 3rd longest rivers in the Hawaiian Islands, draining one sixth of the total area of the island. It rises in a wet plateau of the island's central highlands, in the Alaka'i Swamp, the largest high-elevation swamp in the world. It flows south, passing through the spectacular 3,000-foot-deep (910 m) Waimea Canyon, known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." The valleys of the Waimea River and its tributary, the Makaweli River, were once heavily populated. It enters the Pacific Ocean at Waimea, near the 1778 landing place of Captain Cook on Kauai.

The Yamase Building at the corner of Moana Road and Kaumualiʻi Highway in Waimea, Kauaʻi, was built around 1919 by an itinerant Japanese temple architect for Seiichi Yamase, a nisei son of Japanese immigrants. Despite being the only structure of its kind in Hawaiʻi, it well represents both commercial architecture in rural Hawaii and the contribution of immigrants to the growth of commerce there. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.Corner buildings with curved facades are rare, but not unknown in Hawaii. However, most of them are masonry, not wood frame constructions, and no other such curved corner sits beneath a cantilevered, rectangular, Japanese-style (irimoya) hip and gable roof. The cantilevered, wrap-around balcony on the upper floor follows the curve of the walls beneath, serving the same function as the verandah walkways around traditional Japanese homes. The upper-story doors are also paned sliding doors, like Japanese shōji. Upper-story balconies were typical of many small family-owned shops, where the family lived above the shop.The ground floor has two sets of double doors, each providing access to a separate commercial space. The building first housed a branch of Sumitomo Bank, but has also housed at times a shoe store, barber shop, liquor store, and other small businesses. Its current tenants are a mortgage company and a sandwich shop.The building has sustained some flood damage over the years, and very severe wind damage during Hurricane Iwa in 1983 and Iniki in 1992, but has since been restored to good condition.

Waimea High School is a public high school in Waimea on the island of Kauaʻi in the state of Hawaii. It was established in 1881 and serves grades 9 through 12. It is the westernmost high school in the United States of America. The school mascot is the Menehune, and the school colors are blue and white. The campus displays the mixed media sculpture Hoʻolilo by Ralph Kouchi and the stainless steel sculpture Waimea Ohana by Rowland Morita.Waimea High School is the oldest high school on the island of Kauai. Notable alumni from Waimea High School include former NFL player Jordon Dizon and Nā Hōkū Hanohano winning rapper Thomas Iannucci.

The Bishop National Bank of Hawaii was a bank in Hawaii. Its branch building on Hawaii Route 50 in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii, was built in 1929. That branch building has also been known as First Hawaiian Bank, as Bishop National Bank, Waimea Branch, and as Bishop First National Bank, Waimea Branch. The building includes Classical Revival architecture and was a work of architect John Mason and of J.L. Young Engineering Co. The building was listed on the Hawaiʻi Register of Historic Places in 1977 and on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1978.The building replaced a 1911 building that had been the second Bishop National Bank branch, after the first built in Hilo. According to its NRHP nomination, the building "is important mainly for its architectural value. Its eclectic style and solid, imposing appearance is typical of post-World War I banking architecture. It is designed to give an aura of permanence and stability--a visual assurance to Waimea's inhabitants that the bank was 'here to stay.'": 3  The building is now a First Hawaiian Bank branch.

KRKW-LP is a non-profit radio station in Waimea, Kauai County, Hawaii. Owned and operated by Waimea Baptist Church, the station broadcasts a mix of Christian and community radio content.It has an effective radiated power of 100 watts on the frequency of 107.3 MHz.

The Gulick-Rowell House, on Missionary Row in Waimea, on Kauai, in Hawaii, is a historic house that is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It is located across from Waimea Canyon Middle School, on way to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, first built 1829 by Rev. Peter Johnson Gulick, completed by Rev. George Rowell in 1846. It was built of coral limestone cut from reefs offshore and floated in.It was listed on the Hawaiʻi Register of Historic Places in 1977 and on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Charles Gay House, on Gay Road in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii, was built in 1895. It has also been known as the Roland Gay Residence. It was listed on the Hawaiʻi Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1984; the NRHP listing included three contributing buildings.

Kīkīaola is a historic irrigation ditch (ʻauwai) located near Waimea on the island of Kauai in the U.S. state of Hawaii. Also known as "Menehune Ditch" or "Peekauai Ditch," it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 16, 1984. It is purported to have been built by the Menehune. Hawaiians built many stone-lined ʻauwai to irrigate ponds for growing taro (kalo), but very rarely employed dressed stone to line ditches. The 120 finely cut basalt blocks that line about 200 feet of the outer wall of the Menehune Ditch make it not just exceptional, but "the acme of stone-faced ditches" in the words of archaeologist Wendell C. Bennett.The site shares its name with a harbor near Waimea.
