Blackham

Ashurst railway station is on the Uckfield branch of the Oxted line in southern England and serves Ashurst in Kent (very close to the East Sussex border). It is 32 miles 8 chains (32.10 miles, 51.66 km) from London Bridge. The station is managed by Southern.

The River Grom is a short tributary of the River Medway near Tunbridge Wells in south-east England. Flowing westwards through High Rocks and Groombridge, it forms the Kent-Sussex border for part of its length. A diversion of the Grom feeds the moat at Groombridge Place.

The Arun Valley line, also known as the Mid Sussex line, is part of the Southern- and Thameslink-operated railway services. For the initial part of the route trains follow the Brighton Main Line, and at a junction south of Three Bridges the route turns westwards. It then runs via Crawley, Horsham (where there is a junction with the Portsmouth Line) and Arundel, before meeting the West Coastway line at Arundel Junction. Trains on the Arun Valley line then proceed to either Bognor Regis, Portsmouth & Southsea (with some of these extended to Portsmouth Harbour) or Southampon Central.Many stations on this line retain the short platforms which were originally built, not being extended by the Southern Railway when the line was modernised in the 1930s, nor by any subsequent operators. This causes operational difficulties to this day, which require frequent platform and on-train announcements with longer trains, telling passengers they must travel in the correct part of the train.

Chiddingstone Hoath is a hamlet in the Sevenoaks District of Kent, England. Notable buildings include Hoath House, and Stonewall Park, for some time home of the Meade-Waldo family. It lies within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was visited by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1910.

Withyham was a railway station on the Three Bridges to Tunbridge Wells Central Line which closed in 1967, a casualty of the Beeching Axe. The station opened on 1 October 1866 and the buildings were designed by Charles Henry Driver. The station building survived the closure and is now a private residence named the "Old Withyham Station"; much of the trackbed as far as Groombridge and Three Bridges are part of the Worth Way and Forest Way cyclepath/footpaths.

Ashurst is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Speldhurst, in the Tunbridge Wells district, in the county of Kent, England. It is 5 miles (8 km) west of Royal Tunbridge Wells. The 10th-century parish church is dedicated to St Martin of Tours The parish is located on the border between Kent and East Sussex; the River Medway forms the border between the two counties. There were two watermills located here, both now closed, and there is a weir on the river. In 1931 the parish had a population of 171.In 1871 the area of the then parish was 871 acres (3.52 km2); its population 247 people. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished and merged with Speldhurst.

Mills Rocks is a 1.9-hectare (4.7-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-east of East Grinstead in West Sussex.This site has rock outcrops with a number of rare plants, such as reed fescue grass at one of its only two locations in southern England. The rocks also support a rich variety of mosses and liverworts. There are also areas of woodland, bracken and bramble.The site is private land but a public footpath runs through it.

Cowden Meadow is a 1.1-hectare (2.7-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Cowden in Kent.This site has flora which are found on grassland sites which have not been cultivated for many years, such as quaking grass, oxeye daisy and pepper saxifrage. Wetter areas are dominated by hard rush.A public footpath runs along the southern end of the site.

The Cowden rail crash occurred on 15 October 1994, near Cowden Station in Kent (UK), when two trains collided head-on, killing five and injuring thirteen, after one of them had passed a signal at danger and entered a single-line section. The cause was driver error, possibly involving a guard who was in the cabin against regulations.

The placename Stone Cross occurs in several parts of England, including two other smaller places in Kent: one near Sandwich, and one southeast of Ashford.Stone Cross is a hamlet in the civil parish of Speldhurst, in the Tunbridge Wells district, in the county of Kent, England. It is on the A264 road east of Ashurst. There are few houses and no shops. Burrswood, a building designed by Decimus Burton is located between the hamlet and Groombridge it in commercial use by a Christian charity.

Captain Oliver Manners Sutton (12 March 1896 – 16 August 1921) was a British First World War flying ace credited with seven aerial victories.

Withyham is a village and large civil parish in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. The village is situated 7 miles south west of Royal Tunbridge Wells and 3.5 miles (5.6 km) from Crowborough; the parish covers approximately 7,500 acres (30 km2).
