Avon View High School (AVHS) is a secondary school located in Garlands Crossing, Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. It serves students from grades 9 to 12. The school provides education services for approximately 900 students in the Windsor, Nova Scotia area. The school currently employs 70-80 teachers, administration and janitorial staff, and is operated as one of the 43 schools in the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board.

The Hants Exhibition Arena is owned by the Windsor Agricultural Society and is located at 239 Wentworth Street in Windsor, Nova Scotia. The arena is home to the Hants County Exhibition (the oldest agricultural fair in North America), along with the following hockey teams: Valley Maple Leafs of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, Avon View Avalanche, Kings-Edgehill High School Avon River Rats and West Hants Minor Hockey. The arena was built in 1981 and has a seating capacity of 2300 people. The arena has hosted numerous Nova Scotia 4-H Provincial Shows and the 2001 Don Johnson Cup tournament. CBC's Hockey Day in Canada in 2002 was broadcast from here. The arena also plays host to showjumping, the annual pumpkin weighoff, the occasional concert and many horse shows throughout the summer season.

The Hants County Exhibition is an annual fall fair held in Windsor, Nova Scotia. It is known for being the oldest continuously run agricultural fair in North America. It was first held on the grounds of Fort Edward beginning in 1765 and has been running continuously since 1815.The fair has been held at the nearby Hants Exhibition Arena and exhibition grounds since the land was purchased in 1949. September 2015 marked the 250th anniversary of the Hants County Exhibition. Five years later, the fair went virtual because of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada.

CFAB is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 1450 AM in Windsor, Nova Scotia. The station currently airs a country format branded as AVR, and is owned & operated by the Maritime Broadcasting System. The station also airs a mix of locally produced programming and simulcasting of its sister station CKEN-FM from Kentville.

Windsor is a community located in Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a service centre for the western part of the county and is situated on Highway 101. The community has a history dating back to its use by the Mi'kmaq Nation for several millennia prior to European colonization. When the Acadians lived in the area, the town was raided by New England forces in 1704. The area was central to both Father Le Loutre's War and the Expulsion of the Acadians during the Bay of Fundy Campaign in 1755. The town promotes itself as the birthplace of ice hockey and was the home of Canada's first internationally best-selling author, Thomas Chandler Haliburton. On April 1, 2020, the Town of Windsor amalgamated with the District of West Hants to become the West Hants Regional Municipality.

The St. Croix River is a river in Nova Scotia entirely contained in Hants and Halifax Counties. Its headwaters are Panuke Lake. The river has been exploited for water power. There were water mills in the nineteenth century and in the 1930s three hydroelectric dams were built; they still operate. The lower reaches of the St. Croix are tidal. There is a wide flood plain where the river has cut through limestone bedrock now exposed as white cliffs. The calcareous soil harbours the rare Rams Head Lady Slipper.The Nova Scotia Government estimates that the number of people living within the St. Croix watershed numbered 19,233 in 2011.

King's-Edgehill School is a Canadian private university-preparatory boarding and day school located in the town of Windsor, Nova Scotia. It is the oldest English independent school in the Commonwealth outside the United Kingdom, founded by United Empire Loyalists as King's Collegiate School in 1788, and granted Royal Charter by King George III in 1802.

The Stannus Street Rink, also known as the Windsor Rink, located at 321 Stannus Street at Thomas Street in Windsor, Nova Scotia, is a former ice hockey arena, considered the oldest in Canada, having been built in 1897.

Newport Station is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Municipal District of West Hants. The initial grant was given to John Nutting (loyalist).

Fort Edward is a National Historic Site of Canada in Windsor, Nova Scotia, (formerly known as Pisiguit) and was built during Father Le Loutre's War (1749-1755). The British built the fort to help prevent the Acadian Exodus from the region. The Fort is most famous for the role it played both in the Expulsion of the Acadians (1755) and in protecting Halifax, Nova Scotia from a land assault in the American Revolution. While much of Fort Edward has been destroyed, including the officers' quarters (which burned down in 1922) and barracks, the blockhouse that remains is the oldest extant in North America. A cairn was later added to the site.
