The Coos History Museum is a history museum located in Coos Bay, Oregon, United States. Opened in 1947 as the Coos-Curry Pioneer and Historical Association Museum, the museum is operated by the Coos County Historical Society.

The Coos River flows for about 5 miles (8.0 km) into Coos Bay along the Pacific coast of southwest Oregon in the United States. Formed by the confluence of its major tributaries, the South Fork Coos River and the Millicoma River, it drains an important timber-producing region of the Southern Oregon Coast Range. The course of the main stem and the major tributaries is generally westward from the coastal forests to the eastern end of Coos Bay near the city of Coos Bay.The river is the largest tributary of Coos Bay, which at about 10,000 acres (4,000 ha) is the largest estuary that lies entirely within Oregon. The river enters the bay about 15 miles (24 km) from where the bay—curving east, north, and west of the cities of Coos Bay and North Bend and passing by the communities of Barview and Charleston—meets the ocean. About 30 other tributaries also enter the bay directly.Most of the Coos River watershed of 730 square miles (1,900 km2) is in Coos County, but 147 square miles (380 km2) are in eastern Douglas County. Commercial forests cover about 85 percent of the basin.The river supports populations of chinook and coho salmon, Pacific lamprey, western brook lamprey, shad, steelhead, and coastal cutthroat trout. Since public river-bank access is limited, fishing is often done by boat.

The Marshfield Elks Temple, also known as B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1160, is a two-story Georgian Revival building in Coos Bay, Oregon that was built during 1919–20. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.It was designed by architect William G. Chandler (1884-1959). In 1982, it was being renovated to serve as the headquarters of the Security Bank of Coos County.Chandler also designed the NRHP-listed J. S. Coke Building, nearby at 150 Central Ave. in Coos Bay.

The Coos Bay National Bank Building is a historic commercial building in Coos Bay, Oregon, United States. Completed in 1924, it is an outstanding example of Beaux-Arts eclecticism with a Classical theme by the architecture firm of Tourtellotte and Hummel. It is especially notable as the only building of its architectural type in the Coos Bay area. Although its design integrity has been compromised somewhat, especially by removal of a low dome over the entrance rotunda and modifications to the surrounds of the entry door, it still conveys the essential character-defining traits of its design. It served as the headquarters of the Coos Bay National Bank from its construction until Coos Bay National Bank merged with U.S. National Bank in 1956. The building remained a branch of U.S. National Bank until 1975. Coos Bay National Bank, a community fixture founded in 1915 as the Scandinavian American Bank, exemplified the trend of ethnic banks in the United States and Scandinavian settlement around Coos Bay. As a business institution it played a leading role in the development of Coos Bay during the period between the world wars and in the city's emergence as a major lumber port. It was the only one of four locally controlled banks to survive the Great Depression.The building was entered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Coos Art Museum is a museum in Coos Bay, operating on the southern coast of the U.S. state of Oregon since 1966. It offers exhibitions, art classes, lectures, and community events. Coos Art Museum is housed in a 1936 Art Deco former U.S. Post Office and is home to six exhibition galleries. Construction of the post office began in January 1936 by Hoffman Construction Company, with it opening in November 1936 at a cost of $127,566. The Museum features between 18 and 25 changing exhibitions annually, including exhibits from its own 554-piece permanent collection of Northwest and contemporary art, which can also be viewed via the museum's website.

The Seelig–Byler House, also known as the Albert Seelig House, at 1920 N. Fourteenth St. in Coos Bay, Oregon, was built in about 1909. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.It was designed by local architect William S. "Bud" Turpen and is Bungalow/Craftsman architecture in style. It is a two-story, cedar shingle-clad house. It was built for Albert Seelig, "an enterprising German-born bookkeeper and collection agent for a local liquor wholesaler."

Glasgow is an unincorporated community in Coos County, Oregon, United States. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Glasgow as a census-designated place (CDP). The census definition of the area may not precisely correspond to local understanding of the area with the same name. As of the 2010 census the Glasgow CDP had a population of 763. The place name for Glasgow in the Coos language is Kdet.Glasgow is located on the north side of Coos Bay, about 6 miles (10 km) north of the city of Coos Bay, just east of U.S. Route 101.The community was founded by real estate speculators in the 1890s, including Henry L. Pittock, Phil Metschan, and Admiral Schley of the Pacific Coal & Transportation Company. The community did not flourish until 30 years after its founding, when construction of Route 101 made Glasgow the northern terminus of the ferry from North Bend, which was used to cross the bay prior to the completion of the Coos Bay Bridge. The place was supposedly named by a Scot because it reminded him of Glasgow, Scotland, but the authors of Oregon Geographic Names were unable to verify this.Glasgow has a store and a Grange hall, the North Bayside Grange, also known as the Glasgow Grange, that was built in 1928. A humorous sign at the store states that the community's population is "275.5", the .5 for store owner and "self-proclaimed mayor", Jack S. Stevens.
