Brooklyn is a suburb of Cape Town, Western Cape with a population of 10,941 people. It lies to the north of Maitland, east of the Atlantic Ocean and Paarden Eiland, and west of Air Force Base Ysterplaat. The Black River flows through a section of Brooklyn.

Air Force Base Ysterplaat (ICAO: FAYP) is an airbase of the South African Air Force. It is located in Cape Town suburb Ysterplaat, on the southwestern coast of South Africa. The name Ysterplaat is Afrikaans from the Dutch "Ijzerplaats", meaning "Iron Place" or "Place of Iron" in English. The base's motto is Fortiter In Re (Resolute in Action).

The Salt River (Afrikaans: Soutrivier) is a river in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is a confluence of the Black River which just previously has been confluenced by the Elsieskraal River, and the Liesbeeck River. It flows into Table Bay at the Salt River mouth. Its catchment is part of the Central Management Area of the City of Cape Town. In 1510 the area was the scene of the Battle of Salt River.

It has been a state high school since 1884, and can trace its history as a private school decades further back into the nineteenth century. It was only when you were in standard nine and ten were the girls and boys were allowed to mix In the fifties and sixties the school participated in Cadets.Every Friday after school they would practice band and the cadets would march down the street in full Military garb until one day they were inspected by the commander from the CapeTown castle and were told that they were a sorry lot who could not march like soldiers. That was the last year they had cadets

Maitland is a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. Maitland is situated along a number of important transport networks connecting the Cape Town city bowl to the rest of the city. The most important being the railway line that runs through the middle of the suburb and the N1 that is situated on its northern boundary. The area has always been an important transport hub for the city. In 1845 one of the first roads from Stellenbosch through the Maitland area was completed. This effectively connected Cape Town to the rest of Africa as at the time the dunes of the Cape Flats prevented much traffic between the two locations. The suburb is named after Sir Peregrine Maitland who was governor of the Cape in the mid 1840s.

Milnerton High School (abbreviated to and compassionately known as MHS) is a public English medium co-educational high school for Grades 8 to 12, situated in the Milnerton suburb of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. The school was founded in 1959, and expanded continually - particularly since the early 2000s - to welcome students coming from well beyond central Milnerton. It now serves students residing in both affluent suburbs and townships surrounding Milnerton.

The Battle of Salt River was a small military engagement between the crew of a Portuguese fleet led by Francisco de Almeida and the indigenous ǃUriǁʼaekua ("Goringhaiqua" in Dutch approximate spelling), notable for being the first military encounter between Europeans and indigenous people in what would later become South Africa. The battle resulted in a massacre of Portuguese forces and a victory for the ǃUriǁʼaekua.
