Centretown

First United Church is a United Church of Canada congregation in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. One of Ottawa's oldest congregations, the church formed in 1846.

Centretown United Church is an historic church located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada at 507 Bank Street at Argyle in the Centretown area. It was built in 1906 as the Stewarton Presbyterian Church using Gothic Revival architecture under the architecture of Moses Chamberlain Edey, (designer of Heritage site the Aberdeen Pavilion and the Daly Building. The corner stone was laid by Sir Mortimer Clarke, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. Centretown United Church is a member church of the United Church of Canada.

Ottawa Central Station was the main inter-city bus station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was located 1.5 km south of downtown Ottawa in the Centretown neighbourhood and served buses from Greyhound Canada, Ontario Northland and Autobus Gatineau. It closed on June 1, 2021, and the land it sat on is now owned by Brigil, a real estate developer, who plans to build a multi-use space for housing, dining, retail, and other businesses.Ottawa Central Station was located at 265 Catherine Street, between Lyon Street and Kent Street. Catherine Street lies directly north of Ontario Highway 417 (known locally as the Queensway), which is the main expressway through Ottawa. The former station was accessible from highway 417 exits 120 (eastbound) and 119 (westbound). The station's main entrance faced south towards Catherine Street and the 417. On the north side of the station building, buses called at 14 outdoor bus stands with adjoining indoor gates. The front of the buses were partially covered by a roof overhang. The property it sat on is located one block west of Bank Street, a major north-south commercial street in Ottawa. Continuing north on Bank Street leads to downtown and the main government and business district, while south of highway 417, the street passes through the more residential neighbourhood of the Glebe on its way to Landsdowne Park and the Rideau Canal. Nearby landmarks include the Canadian Museum of Nature on Metcalfe Street and beyond that, the southern end of Elgin Street, a north-south commercial street with many small shops, restaurants and bars. Ottawa Central Station was located roughly 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) west of the Ottawa Train Station and 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) north of Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport.

Barrymore's is a nightclub and concert venue located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The club was first opened in 1978, in the city's former Imperial Theatre on Bank Street. It was considered one of Canada's most important music venues in the 1980s, hosting concerts by noted artists.The club's owner filed for bankruptcy in 1991 and canceled the building's operations. It reopened in 1996 after its acquisition by Eugene Haslam, the owner of Zaphod Beeblebrox. Haslam instituted the custom of "theme nights"; Sunday being 80's retro night and Thursdays being retro 90's night. These nights have become two of the most popular nights in Ottawa's nightlife. In August 2008, scheduled concerts were cancelled and operations suspended due to the apparent sale of the venue to a new owner. Barrymore's reopened on 11 September, and resumed a regular schedule of events after Montreal-based club operator Vince Simeone and George Syriannis became the building's new tenants. Barrymore's is now owned and operated by George Syriannis.By March 2021, the condition of the building had deteriorated sufficiently that the landlord, Louis Antonakos, was ordered by the City of Ottawa to make urgent repairs or face closure. Later that same month, Antonakos appealed the order.

Canada Without Poverty (CWP) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to eradicating poverty in Canada and educating Canadians about the link between poverty and human rights. It is based in Ottawa, with a second office in Vancouver and is run by a board of directors who have, or have had, personal experiences of poverty. Canada has yet to develop consistent poverty indicators, which makes it difficult to effectively help the estimated 1 in 7 or 4.8 million people living in conditions of poverty. This is what CWP is working to change.

The Ottawa Curling Club is an historic curling club located on O'Connor Street in the Centretown neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is the oldest curling club in Ottawa, established in 1851 by Allan Gilmour as the Bytown Curling Club. The Club first played on the Rideau Canal until 1858. It subsequently moved to different locations around the city until finally settling at its current location on O'Connor in 1916. In 1931 the club was expanded to the current capacity of 5 curling sheets. Artificial ice was also installed at that time. The club is home to 2017 World Champion and 2018 and 2022 Olympian Rachel Homan, and is the former home of 1998 and 1999 Junior Men's World Curling Champion and 2018 and 2022 Olympian John Morris. The Ottawa Curling Club is one of two clubs in Downtown Ottawa, the other is the Rideau Curling Club, which maintains a rivalry with the Ottawa.

The Ottawa Auditorium was a 7,500-seat arena located in Ottawa, Ontario. It was located in Downtown Ottawa at the corner of O'Connor and Argyle Streets, today the site of the Taggart Family YMCA. Built primarily for ice hockey, the arena was also used for sports events, assemblies and musical concerts.

The Embassy of Hungary in Ottawa is the embassy of Hungary to Canada. It is located in the historic Birkett Castle at 306 Metcalfe Street in the Centretown neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, with the main entrance via the adjacent embassy annex at 299 Waverley Street. Hungary maintained a Consulate General in Toronto which closed on November 27, 2009, but it has since been re-opened at a new location in Toronto as of April 18, 2014. Hungary also maintains Honorary Consulates in Montreal, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. "Extramural consular days" are held at various times in other locations across the country.

Dey's Arena, also known as Dey Brothers Rink, Dey's Skating Rink and The Arena, were a series of ice rinks and arenas located in Ottawa, Ontario, that hold importance in the early development of the organized sport of ice hockey in Canada. It was the home arena of the Ottawa Hockey Club, variously known as the Generals, the Silver Seven and the Senators from the 1890s until 1923, although it is known that games were also played at the Rideau Skating Rink in the 1890s and the Aberdeen Pavilion in 1904. The rink and arenas were built by two generations of the Dey family, who were prominent in Ottawa at the time, with a thriving boat works business serving the lumber business. The Dey family also played hockey.

The Canadian Museums Association (CMA; French: Association des musées canadiens, AMC), is a national non-profit organization for the promotion of museums in Canada. It represents Canadian museum professionals both within Canada and internationally. As with most trade associations, it aims to improve the recognition, growth and stability of its constituency. Its staff supports their nearly 2,000 members with conferences, publications, and networking opportunities.CMA members include national museums, non-profit museums, art galleries, science centres, aquariums, archives, sport halls-of-fame, artist-run centres, zoos and historic sites across Canada. They range from large metropolitan galleries to small community museums. All are dedicated to preserving and presenting Canada's cultural heritage to the public.
