Farmers and Merchants Bank (F&M) is a historic lending institution (1871−1952) based in Downtown Los Angeles, California. It is known both for its architecture and its pivotal role in the economic development of early Los Angeles. Other, non-related "F&M Banks" exist in many cities and towns across the United States.

The Barclay Hotel is a historic hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Located at the corner of 4th Street and Main Street, it was originally owned by real estate developer Isaac Newton Van Nuys and opened as the Van Nuys Hotel in 1897. The six-story building was designed by architecture firm Morgan and Walls in the Beaux-Arts style. At the time of its opening, the hotel was one of the most luxurious in Los Angeles and was the first in the city to have electricity and a telephone in every room. The Barclay is the oldest continuously operating hotel in Los Angeles. Despite its initial popularity among high-profile visitors to the city, most of the hotel's history has been associated with vagrancy and crime. Several deaths have occurred on the property, including two murders. In 2021, city officials converted the building into a low-income housing project.

The San Fernando Building is an Italian Renaissance Revival style building built in 1906 at 400–410 S. Main Street in the Historic Core district of downtown Los Angeles, California. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, converted into lofts in 2000, and declared a Historic-Cultural Monument in 2002.

The Continental Building, formerly Braly Block, is a 151 ft (46 m), 13-story high-rise residential building on Spring Street in the Historic Core of Los Angeles. The Continental Building is part of the Spring Street Financial District which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.When completed in 1903, it was the city's first high-rise building, and remained the tallest commercial building for fifty-three years. Shortly after the building was completed, the Los Angeles City Council enacted a 150 ft (46 m) height restriction on future buildings that remained until the 1950s.

Located in the Historic Core of Downtown Los Angeles, the Old Bank District is a group of early 20th century commercial buildings, many of which have been (or are being) converted into residential (loft) use. The Old Bank District is bordered roughly by the Jewelry District, the Fashion District, Gallery Row, the Toy District, and the city's Civic Center - specifically the block from Main to Spring streets between 4th and 5th.Though the name suggests a subdistrict of the city, it is actually the name of the residential conversion project proposed by developer Tom Gilmore in 1998. Spurred on by the city's 1999 passage of an adaptive reuse ordinance, the first structure opened in fall 2000. Since that time, Gilmore has generally applied the Old Bank District label to his growing portfolio of upscale eateries and retail space tenants. On January 8, 2004, the Old Bank District became an official city-designated district. The borders are 3rd Street at the northern border, 6th Street at the southern border, Los Angeles Street on the Eastern border, and Spring Street on the western border.The Old Bank District overlaps with the Spring Street Financial District.

The first Los Angeles federal building, more formally the Los Angeles Federal Courthouse and Post Office or U.S. Post Office and Custom House was a Richardsonian Romanesque red brick, brownstone and terra cotta structure designed by Will A. Freret. The building, located at the corner of Main Street and Winston Street, between Fourth and Fifth Streets, was used for about nine years, from 1892 to 1901, to house the Southern District of California, a U.S. post office, and the customs office. The building was partially demolished in 1901; Court moved to the Tajo Building in the meantime. The post office was housed at a series of locations until the second Los Angeles federal building opened in 1910.

The Regent Theatre is a live music venue and historic former movie theater in the Downtown section of Los Angeles, California. Opened as the National Theatre in 1914, it is the oldest remaining theater building on South Main Street. Following its initial status as a first-run filmhouse, it began screening second-run programming in the 1920s amidst a widespread decline of the vicinity's entertainment scene in favor of the newer Broadway Theater District. After serving as a grindhouse, the Regent was later converted to an adult movie theater before shuttering in 2000. Upon the completion of renovations, the facility was reopened as a concert venue in 2014; Live Nation became the operator in 2019.

Spring Street Park is a public park in downtown Los Angeles, in the U.S. state of California.Work on the $8 million park project began in 2011. Trees for the park arrived in 2013. The park has an off-leash dog area, as of 2014.

Round House (later, Garden of Paradise) was a landmark building on the west side of Main Street, below Third in downtown Los Angeles, California.

The Hotel Rosslyn Annex is a historic building in Los Angeles, California built in 1923 at the corner of 5th and Main streets. The structure was designed by the firm Parkinson & Parkinson in the Beaux Arts style and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.The building is across the street from the original 800-room Rosslyn Hotel built in 1914. Designed as a twin, both were topped by mammoth glowing signs featuring the names surrounded by a heart, the shape acknowledging the Hart brothers who owned the hotels.The 264-unit Hotel Rosslyn Annex was renovated in 2015 to house a mix of homeless veteran, low-income and market-rate tenants.
