Stage 42

Playwrights Horizons is a not-for-profit Off-Broadway theater located in New York City dedicated to the support and development of contemporary American playwrights, composers, and lyricists, and to the production of their new work. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Adam Greenfield and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, Playwrights Horizons encourages the new work of veteran writers while nurturing an emerging generation of theater artists. Writers are supported through every stage of their growth with a series of development programs: script and score evaluations, commissions, readings, musical theater workshops, Studio and Mainstage productions.

The Theatre Row Building is a complex of five Off-Broadway theatres at 410 West 42nd Street on Theatre Row in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City. The building is owned by the 501(c)(3) organization non-profit Building for the Arts and is the center piece of an effort to transform the adult entertainment district on 42nd Street between Ninth Avenue and Tenth Avenue into an Off-Broadway theater district.

Theatre Row is an entertainment district of Off Broadway theatres on 42nd Street in Midtown Manhattan west of Ninth Avenue. The space originally referred to a 1977 redevelopment project to convert adult entertainment venues into theatres between 9th and Tenth Avenues on the south side of 42nd Street. However with the success of the district the name is often used to describe any theatre on either side of the street from Ninth Avenue to the Hudson River as more theatres have been built along the street. The Actors Company Theatre (TACT) is an Off-Broadway theatre company founded in 1992 by a group of New York stage veterans. For several years, TACT produced many concert performances, a cross between a staged reading and a full production. In 2006, TACT began a residency at the Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row to produce two full plays a year. TACT focuses on reviving lesser-known productions that have not been performed in New York for several years. According to their website, their mission statement is "to present neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit, with a focus on creating theatre from its essence: the text and the actor's ability to bring it to life."

The Laurie Beechman Theatre (formerly the West Bank Cafe Downstairs Theater Bar) is an 80-seat dinner theater in the basement of the West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd Street in the Manhattan Plaza apartment complex in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City. The theater is named for Laurie Beechman, who was a Broadway singer/actor and cabaret performer.

The 42nd Street station was a local station on the demolished IRT Ninth Avenue Line in Manhattan, New York City. It was opened on November 6, 1875, and had two levels. On the lower level, the local trains stopped, on two tracks serving two side platforms. The upper level was built as part of the Dual Contracts and had one track which carried express trains bypassing the station. The next northbound stop was 50th Street. The next southbound stop was 34th Street. The station was closed on June 11, 1940.

The Pershing Square Signature Center is a complex of three Off-Broadway theatres in the Theatre Row section of West 42nd Street in New York City. It is on the first floors of the 43-floor MiMa Building apartment complex. Pershing Square Signature Center is the theatrical home and headquarters of Signature Theatre Company. The individual theaters are also available to rent and have hosted several notable productions. The New Group frequently presents their work at the Pershing Square Signature Center. The theatre derives its name from the Pershing Square Foundation, which donated $25 million to the theatre. The complex is more than a mile west of Manhattan's Pershing Square, which is also on 42nd Street. In October 2008, Signature announced the building of the Pershing Square Signature Center. Designed by Frank Gehry Architects, the Center comprises the three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a café and bar, bookstore, and offices all on one level. It opened in 2012.The Irene Diamond Stage has a seating capacity of 294 seats, the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre has a seating capacity of 191 seats and the flexible Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre has a capacity of 199 to 250, depending on the seating configuration.

The Orion is a skyscraper located at 350 West 42nd Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues in the Hell's Kitchen or Clinton neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, in the U.S. state of New York. The building rises 604 feet (184 m) above street level, containing 551 residential units across 58 floors, and is the 128th tallest building in New York. Despite its relatively modest height for a skyscraper, the residential building has dominated the 42nd Street landscape west of Times Square since its topout in September 2005, and the building has views of New York City in every direction.The building was designed by the architectural firm CetraRuddy, who also designed One Madison Park.

Manhattan Plaza is a large federally subsidized residential complex of 46 floors and 428 feet (130 m) at 400 and 484 West 43rd Street in midtown Manhattan, New York City. Opened in 1977, it has 1,689 units and about 3,500 tenants. 70% of the tenants are from the performing arts, 15% are neighborhood residents, and 15% are elderly. It occupies the city block bounded north by 43rd Street, east by Ninth Avenue, south by 42nd Street, and west by Tenth Avenue. Developed by HRH Construction, since January 2004 it has been owned by The Related Companies. Manhattan Plaza is the subject of a documentary titled Miracle on 42nd Street, released in 2017.

MiMA, a stylized abbreviation of "Magical Island of Many Amenities", is a mixed-use building located at 450 West 42nd Street between Dyer and 10th Avenues in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Ground was broken in 2007 and topping out occurred in early August 2010. It was designed by the Miami-based architecture firm of Arquitectonica, and has 43 floors of luxury rentals on floors 7 to 50, twelve floors of condominiums on floors 51 to 63, and a Yotel hotel on the lower levels. At 638 feet (194 m), it is the 101st tallest building in New York. The building was developed by The Related Companies and Stephen M. Ross, the company's founder, chairman and CEO, stated that the project "has been well received because of the amenity package...", which includes a private health club, an outdoor movie theatre, and Dog City, a dog run and full pet spa. MiMA is also one of the first buildings to have a distribution antenna system which improves cell phone service and reception throughout the building.In 2012, the Signature Theatre Company opened The Pershing Square Signature Center, designed by Frank Gehry, inside the MiMA Building. The center consists of three theatre spaces, two studios, a shared lobby with a café and bar, bookshop, and concierge desk, and administrative offices that span 70,000 contiguous square feet. MiMA's advertising campaign, carried out primarily on ads on bus shelters, suggested that "MiMA" was yet another Manhattan neighborhood acronym, like SoHo and TriBeCa.

The Westside Theatre is an off-Broadway performance space at 407 West 43rd Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The building houses two auditoriums: the Upstairs Theatre, which seats 270, and the Downstairs Theatre, which features a thrust stage and has a seating capacity of 249. Formerly known as the Chelsea Theatre Center and the Westside Arts Theatre, the building was renovated in 1991.

The West Side Airlines Terminal was one of three air terminals in Midtown Manhattan. Located at the southeast corner of Tenth Avenue and West 42nd Street, the terminal operated from 1955 to 1972 and served as a location where passengers could purchase tickets and check baggage before boarding buses that would transport them Newark Airport. It was later repurposed to accommodate other uses before being demolished to make way for a 63-story mixed-use building, MiMA, that opened in 2011.
