Neuer Zollhof

Düsseldorf-Hafen is an urban borough of Düsseldorf, Germany, located on the river Rhine and the location of the city's docks. The borough covers 3.85 km2 and is predominantly commercial and industrial in nature, with a very small residential population. It had 212 residents in the year 2000, making it the Düsseldorf borough with the lowest population density. The docks prospered for decades but lost much of their trade when Mannesmann closed its nearby pipe factory. As a result the eastern part of the docks started to be redeveloped, attracting businesses in the service sector such as media, design and fashion companies. One of the first new residents to the so-called Media Harbour was Westdeutscher Rundfunk with its current affairs TV and radio studios. Düsseldorf local radio station Antenne Düsseldorf is also based in the harbour area. One of the largest cinemas of Düsseldorf is in the Hafen. The Landtag (State parliament) of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Rheinturm are situated right next to the harbour. Within the Hafen district is the Neuer Zollhof an ensemble of three warped-looking buildings by architect Frank Gehry and other postmodernist buildings. There are also many restaurants, bars, and a few clubs, which make the Hafen a prominent lifestyle district. The western part of the area still has actively used docks for barges that transport materials on the Rhine. There are plans for further redevelopment with the construction of high end apartment buildings. In 2003 the port company merged with the port of Neuss on the opposite bank of the Rhine to form Neuss-Düsseldorfer Häfen GmbH & Co. KG.

Stadttor (transl. City Gate) is a 20-storey 84 m (276 ft) high-rise building in the Unterbilk neighborhood of Düsseldorf, Germany. The building was designed by Düsseldorf-based architecture firm Petzinka Pink und Partner and completed in 1998. It marks the Southern entrance of Rheinufertunnel, which is also the reason for its parallelogram-shaped floor plan. The building features a 15-story atrium and a double-facade, allowing natural ventilation even on higher elevation floors. The total gross floor area is some 30,000 m2 (320,000 sq ft). From 1999 until 2017, the Stadttor was the seat of the state-chancellery of the Prime ministers of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Rheinkomet (lit. 'Rhine comet') is a light art installation on top of the Rheinturm (Rhine Tower) in Düsseldorf. It was first introduced on the 70th anniversary of the federal state North Rhine-Westfalia in August 2016. It has 56 Xenon arc lamps. It was first intended only for the anniversary. Due to high public popularity, they try to set it up permanently and to use it on special occasions.

The Rheinturm (pronounced [ˈʁaɪ̯ntʊʁm]) (Rhine Tower) is a 240.5-metre-high (789 ft) concrete telecommunications tower in Düsseldorf, capital of the federal state (Bundesland) of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Construction commenced in 1979 and finished in 1981. The Rheinturm carries aerials for directional radio, FM and TV transmitters. It stands 174.5 metres high and houses a revolving restaurant and an observation deck at a height of 170 metres. It is the tallest building in Düsseldorf.The Rheinturm was inaugurated on 1 December 1981. It contains 7,500 cubic metres of concrete and weighs 22,500 tons. Before October 15, 2004, when an aerial antenna for DVB-T was mounted, it was 234.2 metres high. The observation deck is open to public daily from 10:00 to 23:30. As a special attraction, a light sculpture on its shaft works as a clock. This sculpture was designed by Horst H. Baumann and is called Lichtzeitpegel (light time level). The light sculpture on the Rheinturm is the largest digital clock in the world.

Düsseldorf Völklinger Straße station is a through station in the district of Unterbilk in the city of Düsseldorf in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station was opened on 29 May 1988 on the new line opened by the Prussian state railways on 1 October 1891 between the Hamm Railway Bridge and Gerresheim as part of the construction of Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof. It has two platform tracks and it is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station.The station is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn lines S 8 between Mönchengladbach and Wuppertal-Oberbarmen or Hagen, S 11 between Düsseldorf Airport and Bergisch Gladbach and S 28 between Mettmann Stadtwald or Wuppertal and Kaarster See, each every 20 minutes.It is also served by one tram line, operated by Rheinbahn at 10-minute intervals: 709. It is served by bus route 726 operated by Rheinbahn at 30-minute intervals.

The Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia is the state parliament (Landtag) of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which convenes in the state capital of Düsseldorf, in the eastern part of the district of Hafen. The parliament is the central legislative body in the political system of North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition to passing of laws, its most important tasks are the election of the Minister-President of the state and the administration of the government. The current government is a coalition of the CDU and the Greens, supporting the cabinet of Minister-President Hendrik Wüst since June 2022.The last state election took place on 15 May 2022.

The Rheinkniebrücke (English: Rhine knee bridge) is a cable-stayed bridge leading over the Rhine at the Rheinknie in Düsseldorf with a six-lane motor road and two combined pedestrian and cycle paths, which was opened to traffic on 16 October 1969.

District 1 (German: Stadtbezirk 1) is the central borough of Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and the city's commercial and cultural center. The district covers an area of 11.31 square kilometres and (as of December 2020) has about 86,000 inhabitants.Despite being one of Düsseldorf's smallest districts by area, Stadtbezirk 1 includes several distinct quarters: the city's Medieval Altstadt is known as an entertainment district with plenty of Altbier pubs and bars, while the adjacent Baroque-style Carlstadt has a very Bohemian character. Stadtmitte is the city's shopping and central business district, extending into the three Gründerzeit quarters of Pempelfort, Derendorf and Golzheim - the latter three also being popular as both business locations and residential areas. The entire district has a high density of institutions and enterprises associated with the arts and culture in general. The district shares borders (clockwise from north) with Düsseldorf districts 5, 6, 2, 3 and - over the Rhine - District 4.

The Sternwarte Düsseldorf (a.k.a. Sternwarte Bilk, Sternwarte Charlottenruhe; Bilk Observatory or Düsseldorf-Bilk Observatory in English) in Düsseldorf-Bilk was a private observatory founded in 1843 by Johann Friedrich Benzenberg. The observatory's main feature was a refracting telescope with 1800mm focal length. After Benzenberg's death the observatory was bequeathed to the city of Düsseldorf. It was destroyed by bombing in 1943.Between 1852 and 1890, C. Robert Luther discovered 24 asteroids there, from Thetis, discovered on April 17, 1852, to Glauke, discovered February 20, 1890. These asteroids and planetoids are called the 24 Düsseldorf planets. The asteroid 4425 Bilk is named in honour of the observatory.† Near its original location, a benchmark was erected, displaying the observatory's burnt-out telescope.

The Largest Fair on the Rhine (German: Größte Kirmes am Rhein) is a fair in Düsseldorf, one of Germany's largest. It takes place the third week in July on the left bank of the Rhine River, in the district Düsseldorf-Oberkassel, and features beer and food tents, amusement park rides, and vendors.

Oberkassel (Limburgish: Ueverkassel) is a part of Düsseldorf's district 4, with a population of about 17,000 inhabitants. Oberkassel lies on the west side of the river Rhine, the opposite side of the central district of Düsseldorf. Oberkassel is an economically well-situated borough with an average income of 61.465 Euro and an unemployment rate below 5%. Nearly half of the households in Oberkassel are single households. The average age is about 45 years.

District 4 (German: Stadtbezirk 4) is a borough of Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It covers an area of 12.62 square kilometres and has about 45,000 inhabitants (2020). District 4 is the city's only district on the west bank of the Rhine and its quarters are popular residential areas. Across the river, it shares borders with Düsseldorf districts 5, 1 and 3. West and South-west, the district is bordered by Rhein-Kreis Neuss and the city of Neuss.
