Grayson College is a public community college in Grayson County, Texas. The main campus is in Denison and it has branch campuses in Denison (west extension, at the site of the old Perrin Air Force Base) and Van Alstyne (south campus).

The Perrin Air Force Base Historical Museum is an aviation museum located at North Texas Regional Airport in Denison, Texas focused on the history of Perrin Air Force Station.

Knollwood is a city in Grayson County, Texas, United States. The population was 432 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sherman–Denison metropolitan statistical area.

Texoma Medical Center was founded in 1965 in Denison, Texas. A previous location closed and the new facility opened in 2009. It is located an hour away from Dallas, and roughly 25–30 minutes from Durant, Oklahoma. It is called Texoma Medical Center due to its distance to the Texas/Oklahoma border, as it serves parts of North Texas and South Central Oklahoma.

The Midway Mall is the only shopping mall in the areas of far North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. The mall is also the only mall outside of the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area and central Oklahoma. The mall sits about one mile east of US Highway 75. The Sherman and Denison, Texas area have a population of about 150,000.

The Sherman, Texas bus accident occurred when a bus chartered by Vietnamese pilgrims crashed in Texas on Friday 8 August 2008, killing at least 17 people and injuring dozens more, police said. The bus, carrying 55 people, drove off an overpass bridge of northbound U.S. 75 shortly after midnight and crashed near the town of Sherman, Texas, some 64 mi (103 km) north of Dallas. Sherman police said a blown tire on the bus may have caused the driver to lose control. Local media said that the group was from the Vietnamese Martyrs' Church, Our Lady of Lavang, and Our Lady of Lourdes of Houston, Texas. The bus was one of three buses carrying Vietnamese Catholics on their way to the annual Marian Days celebration in Carthage, Missouri in honor of the Virgin Mary. The bus tire was apparently recapped; the bus charter company had a history of safety violations, and the driver had a criminal record. The bus owner was identified as Iguala BusMex Inc. Following the crash, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration temporarily stopped issuing new bus company licenses. The bus did not have seat belts. Some people have called for mandatory seat belts and safety glass in highway coaches.

The Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center (WNJ), formerly Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital–WNJ, is a hospital in Sherman, Texas. Named for the Choctaw chief Wilson Nathaniel Jones (1827-1901), it has 237 beds, and employs 1000 staff. It was established in 1914.In 2014, Alecto Healthcare Services acquired the hospital from Texas Health Resources. In 2023, the hospital declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Sherman is a city in and the county seat of Grayson County, Texas, United States. The city's population in 2020 was 43,645. It is one of the two principal cities in the Sherman–Denison metropolitan statistical area, and is the largest city in the Texoma region of North Texas and southern Oklahoma.

Baker Field is a ballpark located in Sherman, Texas. It is home to the Austin College Kangaroos baseball team of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The venue holds a capacity of 400.

The Paul Brown Federal Building and United States Courthouse, also known as Sherman U.S. Federal Building, is a historic government building in Sherman, Texas. It was built during 1906-1907 and reflects Renaissance Revival architecture. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 as the US Post Office and Courthouse. It served historically as a post office (until 1962) and continues to serve as a federal courthouse for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. In 2014, the building was renamed in honor of District Judge Paul Neeley Brown.It is a three-story limestone-clad building on a granite base with a red clay tiled hipped roof.

Austin College is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and located in Sherman, Texas.About 1,300 students are enrolled at the college. Students are required to live on campus for the first three years of their education in order to foster a close-knit and community oriented campus lifestyle. Austin College actively promotes study abroad programs; 70% of graduates have at least one international study experience during college, and about 82% of students are involved in research. The college cultivates close interaction between students and professors via a 13:1 student to faculty ratio and an average class size of fewer than 25 students.Chartered in November 1849, Austin College remains the oldest institution of higher education in Texas to be operating under its original charter and name as recognized by the State Historical Survey Committee. The Grayson County Courthouse in Sherman, Texas was built in 1936 in Moderne style.
