Larpenteur Avenue

Como Zoo was the first zoo established in Minnesota. Founded in 1897, the zoo is located within Como Park, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Como Zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

The Como Park Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory (or just Como Zoo and Conservatory) are located in Como Park at 1225 Estabrook Drive, Saint Paul, Minnesota. The park, zoo and conservatory are owned by the City of Saint Paul and are a division of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation. Its attractions include the zoo, the conservatory, an amusement park, a carousel, Lake Como, a golf course, a pool and more. The park receives more than 1.9 million visitors annually. Como Park is a free park and while no admission fee is charged for the zoo or conservatory, voluntary donations of $4 per adult and $2 child are suggested.

Falcon Heights is a suburb of Saint Paul and a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,321 at the 2010 census. It became a village in 1949 and a city in 1973.Falcon Heights is the home of the University of Minnesota's St. Paul Campus; the Gabbert Raptor Center and Les Bolstad Golf Course, the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, and the Gibbs Museum of Pioneer and Dakotah Life. Its University Grove neighborhood is known for its modern architecture.

Snelling & Larpenteur is a bus rapid transit station on the A Line in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, United States. The station is located at the intersection of Larpenteur Avenue on Snelling Avenue. Both station platforms are located far-side of Larpenteur Avenue. The station opened June 11, 2016 with the rest of the A Line.

Snelling & Hoyt and Snelling & Nebraska are a pair of bus rapid transit stations on the A Line in Falcon Heights and Saint Paul, Minnesota. The two stations collectively make up one station, Snelling & Hoyt-Nebraska. The southbound station, Snelling & Hoyt, is located south of Hoyt Avenue on Snelling Avenue. The northbound station, Snelling & Nebraska, is located south of Nebraska Avenue on Snelling Avenue. The station is split due to right-of-way restrictions on the west side of Snelling Avenue at Nebraska Avenue.The station opened June 11, 2016 with the rest of the A Line.

Bridges No. L-5853 and 92247 are two side-by-side bridges in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. They were built in 1904 over the Como-Harriet streetcar line, connecting the nearby Twin City Rapid Transit Company station to the line running west to Minneapolis; Bridge No. 92247 carries traffic on Lexington Avenue over the tracks and Bridge No. L-5853 carried pedestrians; the latter is an example of an early reinforced concrete arch bridge, using the Melan reinforcing system by the William S. Hewett & Company of Minneapolis.The bridges were evaluated as part of the Reinforced-Concrete Highway Bridges in Minnesota MPS and were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Como Park is a neighborhood and city planning district in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in the United States. It is Planning District 10. The main features of the neighborhood are Como Lake and Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. The approximate boundaries of the neighborhood are Snelling Avenue to the west, Larpenteur Avenue to the north, Dale Street to the east, and the Pierce Butler Route to the south.

The Salvation Army Women's Home and Hospital, now The Salvation Army's Booth Brown House, is a 1912 brick Tudor Revival style building designed by Clarence H. Johnston, Sr. in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. The Salvation Army originally used it to provide housing and hospital care for unwed mothers and their children. In 1971 its focus changed to helping young women with behavioral or emotional issues. The facility now serves homeless and transitional youth. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 10, 1983 for its architecture and its significance in religion, humanitarianism, and women's history.

Har Mar Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Roseville, Minnesota, United States, a suburb of the Twin Cities. Har Mar Mall comprises over 430,000 square feet (40,000 m2) of retail space and the mall's anchor stores are Famous Footwear, Michaels, HomeGoods, Barnes & Noble, Staples, K&G Fashion Superstore, Burlington, Cub Foods, H&R Block, Tuesday Morning, Marshalls, David's Bridal, Painting with a Twist, Sport Clips, Waxing the City, Elements Massage, and Best Buy Mobile. The mall contains 45 tenants. Opened in 1963 and expanded several times since, it is one of two enclosed malls in Roseville; the other is Rosedale Center. Despite being a relatively small shopping center, Har Mar Mall remains open. It was constructed by Robert W. Fendler of Fendler Patterson and is owned and managed by the Vanbarton Group and Varbarton Services respectively.

Como Regional Park Pool or just Como Pool is a public swimming pool located in the Como Park neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Frank Jay Haynes (October 28, 1853 – March 10, 1921), known as F. Jay or the Professor to almost all who knew him, was a professional photographer, publisher, and entrepreneur from Minnesota who played a major role in documenting through photographs the settlement and early history of the great Northwest. He became both the official photographer of the Northern Pacific Railway and of Yellowstone National Park as well as operating early transportation concessions in the park. His photographs were widely published in articles, journals, books and turned into stereographs, and postcards in the late 19th and early 20th century.

On July 6, 2016, Philando Castile, a 32-year-old African American man, was fatally shot during a traffic stop by police officer Jeronimo Yanez of the St. Anthony police department in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. Castile was driving with his girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, and her four-year-old daughter when at 9:00 p.m. he was pulled over by Yanez and another officer in Falcon Heights, a suburb of Saint Paul, Minnesota. After being asked for his license and registration, Castile told Officer Yanez that he had a firearm (Castile was licensed to carry), to which Yanez replied, "Don't reach for it then". Castile responded "I'm, I, I was reaching for...", to which Yanez replied "Don't pull it out". Castile then replied "I'm not pulling it out", and Reynolds said "He's not...". Yanez again repeated "Don't pull it out". Yanez then proceeded to fire seven close-range shots at Castile, hitting him five times. Castile died of his wounds at 9:37 p.m. at Hennepin County Medical Center, about 20 minutes after being shot.In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Reynolds posted a live stream video on Facebook from her and Castile's car. The incident quickly gained international interest. Local and national protests formed, and five months after the incident, Yanez was charged with second-degree manslaughter and two counts of dangerous discharge of a firearm. After five days of deliberation, he was acquitted of all charges in a jury trial on June 16, 2017. After the verdict, Yanez was immediately fired by the City of Saint Anthony. Wrongful death lawsuits against the City brought by Reynolds and Castile's family were settled for a total of $3.8 million.
