Newcastle District

Dale is a community in the municipality of Port Hope, Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada. It is located at the junction of county roads 28 (Ontario Street) and 74 (Dale Road); county road 28 leads south to interchange 464 on Ontario Highway 401 and further south to the town centre of Port Hope. The communities of Welcome, Davidson's Corners and Precious Corners are to the west, north and east respectively. The Ganaraska River flows on the west side of the community.

Camborne is an unincorporated place and dispersed rural community in Hamilton Township, Northumberland County in Central Ontario, Canada. It is located on County Road 18 about 6.5 km (4 mi) north of Ontario Highway 401 exit 472 and 10 km (6 mi) north of Cobourg. The village has a population of approximately 350.Camborne was settled by United Empire Loyalists and immigrants, primarily from the United Kingdom, in the early- and mid-19th century. It was established as a rural, agricultural community.The municipal office for the Township of Hamilton is located in Camborne. Camborne Public School, a junior elementary school that is part of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, is also located in the village, and the original one-room school is maintained as an active community centre and historic site.

Trinity College School (TCS) is a co-educational, independent boarding and day school located in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. TCS was founded on May 1, 1865, more than two years before Canadian Confederation. It includes a Senior School for grades nine to twelve, and a Junior School for grades five to eight.

CHJJ-FM (90.7 MHz) is a listener-supported non-commercial station in Cobourg, Ontario. It broadcasts a contemporary Christian music format and is owned by United Christian Broadcasters of Canada (UCB). Most programming is simulcast with co-owned 102.3 CKJJ-FM Belleville.

Hamilton Township is a rural township located in Northumberland County in central Ontario. It surrounds the Town of Cobourg. The township was named after Henry Hamilton, Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec from 1782 to 1785.

St. Mark's Anglican Church is a historic Anglican church in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. The Carpenter Gothic church building dates from the 1820s and was the original home of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, now located in a larger stone building on Pine Street. The congregation dedicated to St. Mark was established in 1873. The churchyard is the resting place of Vincent Massey, the first Canadian-born Governor General of Canada.

The Capitol Theatre is located in Port Hope, Ontario, and is one of the last fully restored atmospheric movie theatres still in operation in Canada. Now a National Historic Site and still used for performances, it was constructed in 1930, with an interior designed to resemble a walled medieval courtyard surrounded by a forest. It was one of the first cinemas in the country built expressly for talking pictures. It opened on Friday, August 15, 1930, screening Queen High starring Charlie Ruggles and Ginger Rogers.

The Port Hope Public Library is a public library system with two branches that serves the town of Port Hope, Ontario, Canada.The first incarnation of the Port Hope Public Library was a Mechanic's Institute established in 1852. This was followed by the building of a public library in 1912 with a grant from the Carnegie Foundation. The library was erected at 31 Queen St and later became the Mary J. Benson Branch. In 1971 the library was expanded and the front facade altered. The next alteration to the building came in 1982 with the installation of an elevator in the south west corner of the building which, in turn, required a relocation of the front door. In 2000 the Town of Port Hope and the Hope Township were amalgamated by the municipal government which added the smaller Garden Hill Branch to the Port Hope Public Library network. The Queen St building underwent further renovations in 2001 which effectively doubled the size of the library and added columns that imitated the facade of the initial 1912 building. These renovations were done from January to December 2001 and cost 2.2 million dollars. During this time much of the library collection was stored but service did continue from a nearby storefront. Upon its reopening in 2002, the building was named the Mary J. Benson Branch of the Port Hope Public Library. Ten years later, in 2012 the library celebrated its 100th anniversary.

Port Hope is a municipality in Southern Ontario, Canada, approximately 109 km (68 mi) east of Toronto and about 159 km (99 mi) west of Kingston. It is located at the mouth of the Ganaraska River on the north shore of Lake Ontario, in the west end of Northumberland County. The private Trinity College School opened here in 1868.

The Ganaraska River is a river in Northumberland County and the Regional Municipality of Durham in Southern Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Great Lakes Basin, and is a tributary of Lake Ontario, which it reaches at the central community of the municipality of Port Hope. The river's name is thought to be derived from Ganaraske, the Cayuga name for the village this Iroquoian nation had established in this area in 1779. Together with other nations of the Iroquois Confederacy, they had migrated from New York, forced to cede their homelands because of having allied with the British in the American Revolutionary War. The Crown provided additional lands to the Iroquois peoples, including what is now called the Six Nations of the Grand River reserve. Later the Crown granted land here to United Empire Loyalists, in compensation for their losses in the Northeast colonies, especially New York. They were the first European Americans to settle here in any number.

Port Hope High School is a high school and former Grammar school in Port Hope, Ontario.

Port Hope railway station in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada, is one of the oldest Canadian passenger rail stations still in active use. Served by Via Rail trains running from Toronto to Kingston and Ottawa, it was also a stop for trains to and from Montreal until January 24, 2012. The station is unstaffed, but has a heated waiting room, pay telephone, washrooms, free outdoor parking, and wheelchair access.
