Melrose Estate is a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Region 3. Until the early 2000s, the suburb had many fine traditional houses, which are rapidly giving way to cluster house complexes. While probably inevitable, this is slowly defacing the suburb. With the expected building of the Gautrain station in nearby Rosebank, the suburb is likely to disappear as a tree-covered residential area.

The Great Park Synagogue is an Orthodox synagogue situated in Houghton, Johannesburg. The present building was consecrated in 2000, after the congregation vacated their long-time home, the Great Synagogue on Wolmarans Street, Hillbrow in 1994, after eighty years. The Wolmarans Street synagogue came to be known as the city's mother synagogue and "the crown jewel of Orthodox Judaism in South Africa." All large-scale Jewish events in Johannesburg were held in the building, and throughout its existence it was the seat of the country's chief rabbi. Northward migration by congregation members led to the synagogue closing its doors in 1994. The relocated synagogue was built on the model of the Great Synagogue, whose own architecture in turn was inspired by the Hagia Sophia. Great Park Synagogue was also the original name of the synagogue on Wolmarans Street before it became the Great Synagogue.

Rosebank has a thriving nightlife with cafes, bars and clubs around the Design District such as Marble Restaurant, Molokai, Capital Cafe, The Bank, and Sumo Nightclub. The African Craft Market, and the popular Rooftop Market ("Rosebank Flea Market") are popular tourist destinations; various high-end hotels are also located in the suburb. The annual Joburg gay pride parade also passes through the streets of Rosebank, then heads to Zoo Lake. Rosebank is often dubbed the new Sandton, an affluent neighborhood in the Gauteng Province and forms part of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality which is located a mere five km (3.1 mi) from Rosebank.

The Wanderers Stadium (Imperial Wanderers due to sponsorship reasons and affectionately known as the Bullring due to its intimidating atmosphere) is a stadium situated just south of Sandton in Illovo, Johannesburg in Gauteng Province, South Africa. The Oxford Shul is an Orthodox Jewish congregation and synagogue, located in Riviera, near the suburbs of Saxonwold, Houghton and Killarney, in Johannesburg, in the region of Gauteng, South Africa. The congregation was established in 1943 and moved into its current building in 1962. The sanctuary is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, with seating for 1,500 congregants.
