Elmira Correctional Facility

Woodlawn National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery within Woodlawn Cemetery, which is in the city of Elmira, in Chemung County, New York. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses 10.5 acres (4.2 ha), and as of 2021, had over 11,000 interred remains.

The John W. Jones House currently stands at 1250 Davis Street, Elmira, New York, across from a historic entrance to Woodlawn Cemetery. It is the former home of John W. Jones and current home of the John W. Jones Museum. It stands on part of its original property, though it originally faced College Avenue. Historically, the house was the private residence of John W. Jones and his family, but changed ownership several times since, and was used as rental property that fell into disrepair. Condemned by the City of Elmira in 1997, Lucy Brown brought it to the public's attention and with a group of concerned citizens, saved it from demolition. It is now the home to the John W. Jones Museum.

Woodlawn Cemetery is the name of a cemetery in Elmira, New York, United States. Its most famous burials are Mark Twain and his wife Olivia Langdon Clemens. Many members of the United States Congress, including Jacob Sloat Fassett are also interred there. Within Woodlawn Cemetery is the distinct Woodlawn National Cemetery, begun with the interment of Confederate prisoners from the nearby Elmira Prison (dubbed "Hellmira" by its inmates) during the American Civil War. It is run by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Both cemeteries are still active and together were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Eldridge Park, located in Elmira, New York, is a famous amusement park, which opened around the turn of the 20th century. Covering roughly 15 acres (6.1 ha), it is dedicated to the memory of a local physician and is still in common usage. The park includes an 1890s Looff Carousel, an outdoor stage, an extensive network of picnic areas, a wooden roller coaster, haunted house, shooting gallery, bumper cars, a boat ride along the park's lake, eateries, a miniature golf course, and a small-gauge train ride through the park, in addition to several other rides and attractions. Eldridge Lake was believed to be bottomless in local folklore and, that there was an underground water tunnel that leads at least 20 miles (32 km) to the north, to Seneca Lake, one of the nearby Finger Lakes in Upstate New York. However, the depth of the lake is 39 feet (12 m) and there are no known tunnels that connect Eldridge Lake with Seneca Lake.Eldridge Park also has several soccer fields, used by the local travel soccer club, Soaring Capital Soccer Club, a skate park, and a baseball field.

Elmira Heights is a village in Chemung County, New York, United States. The population was 4,097 at the 2010 census. The village is primarily within the town of Horseheads, but part of the village is in the town of Elmira. The village is a northern suburb of the city of Elmira. It is part of the Elmira, New York Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Arnot Ogden Medical Center is a medical facility in Elmira, New York, previously known as Arnot-Ogden Memorial Hospital, founded in 1888.

The Elmira Heights Village Hall, located in Elmira Heights, New York, was built in 1896. It was designed by local architects Pierce & Bickford. It is significant architecturally as an example of the Chateauesque or Northern Renaissance Revival style of the period. It is significant historically for its role in local government. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Ernie Davis Academy is the junior high school in Elmira, New York, United States. It occupies the building formerly used by the Elmira Free Academy, a high school, which merged with Southside High School to become Elmira High School in September 2014. It has 855 students in grades 7–8 with a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1. According to state test scores, 18 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 22 percent in reading.The building used by the previous junior high school for students from the area north of the Chemung River, Ernie Davis Jr. High School, is now used by a charter elementary school.

WLVY (1600 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station that is licensed to two adjacent cities in the Southern Tier of New York, Elmira Heights and Horseheads, New York. It is owned by Tower Broadcasting and airs a Top 40 (CHR) radio format. The studios, offices and transmitter are on Lake Street in Elmira. Programming is also heard on two FM translator stations, 93.9 MHz W230BB in Elmira and 96.7 MHz W244EC in Corning.

Pentecostal Holy Temple Church of Jesus Christ, formerly known as The Free Baptist Church, was a historic Baptist church located at Elmira in Chemung County, New York. It was built in 1882 and is an example of late 19th century Gothic Revival style ecclesiastical architecture. The building has been demolished. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The Elmira College Old Campus is the historic part of Elmira College in Elmira, New York. Historically known as The Elmira Collegiate Seminary or The Elmira Female College, the college was the first in the United States to offer to women a degree program on a par with programs offered to men. The contributing structures are significant examples of the architecture of the period. The contributing buildings are Cowles Hall, Hamilton House, Mark Twain's Study, Gillett Hall, Carnegie Science Hall, Fassett Commons, Tompkins Hall, and Hamilton Hall.

Elmira College is a private college in Elmira, New York. Founded as a college for women in 1855, it is the oldest existing college granting degrees to women that were the equivalent of those given to men. Elmira College became coeducational in all of its programs in 1969. As of 2023, the college has an enrollment of approximately 657 students. The school's colors, purple and gold, are seen throughout the traditional campus, consisting mainly of buildings of the Victorian and Collegiate Gothic architectural styles. The colors purple and gold come from both the banners of the women's suffrage movement and the iris, the college flower. The octagonal study in which Mark Twain wrote many of his most widely read novels, including A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is located on campus, and the center maintains Quarry Farm, where the Clemens family spent more than twenty summers, as a research facility for Twain scholars. Every four years the college hosts the International Conference On The State of Mark Twain Studies.
