Bacova, Virginia

Fort Dinwiddie (1755–1789) was a base for the Virginia Militia during the French and Indian War and Revolutionary War. It was located on the Jackson River, five miles west of Warm Springs, Virginia, in present-day Bath County.

West Warm Springs is an unincorporated community in Bath County, Virginia, in the United States. In 2021, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources dedicated a commemorative plaque recognizing West Warm Springs as a significant place in the history of African Americans in the Commonwealth of Virginia. According to the official press release from the commemoration ceremony, African Americans recently freed from slavery purchased parcels of land west of Warm Springs and founded the community in the antebellum period of the American Civil War. Residents gained employment at the Warm Springs Pools or the Homestead Resort, or they fashioned careers as tradespeople and entrepreneurs. West Warm Springs is an important example of an Appalachian freedmen's town. Community members of West Warm Springs gradually erected spaces for worship, education, and community life. Of note, the John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church and Cemetery, founded in 1873, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church and Cemetery, also known as John Wesley United Methodist Church and Wesley Chapel, is a historic Methodist Episcopal church and cemetery located at West Warm Springs, Bath County, Virginia. It was built by former slaves in 1873, and is a one-story, front-gabled, log church, clad in weatherboard with a stone foundation. A frame vestibule with bell tower was added to the front of the church and a choir loft rear extension was added in 1923. In 1982 a one-story, frame Sunday School addition, clad in vinyl siding was built by volunteers and added to the southeast elevation. The church represents the lone built representation of the first decades of the African-American settlement at West Warm Springs. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Switchback School, also known as Union Hurst School, is a historic Rosenwald school located near Hot Springs, Bath County, Virginia. It was built in 1924–1925, and is a one-story, frame, graded two-teacher type of public school. It is sheathed in weatherboard and has a side-gable roof. A major addition at the south end was built in 1933 and a second addition was built about 1960. Also on the property are a contributing privy (c. 1950); a cistern constructed as part of a Civilian Conservation Corps site improvement project (late-1930s); and three stone walls built by the workers from the Works Progress Administration (late-1930s). It is one of approximately 70 Rosenwald schools that survive of the 364 that were built across Virginia for the education of African-American students. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Garth Newel Music Center is a 501c3 not-for-profit educational institute located on a 114-acre mountainside property near Hot Springs in Bath County, Virginia. Recipient of the 2012 CMAcclaim Award from Chamber Music America for their contributions to the field of chamber music, Garth Newel Music Center celebrated its 40th anniversary in the summer of 2013. Garth Newel, a Welsh phrase meaning "new hearth" or "new home," was the name given to the property in the 1920s by William Sergeant Kendall and Christine Herter Kendall. Home to the Garth Newel Piano Quartet, the Center offers over 60 concerts annually. The annual Summer Chamber Music Festival, which takes place on weekends between late June and Labor Day, features twenty performances by the quartet and their guests and performances by Fellowship (student) ensembles. Other annual performances include three three-day "Fall Foliage" concert weekends each October; Thanksgiving and New Year's Holiday Weekends; wintertime "pub" concerts, and three concert weekends each May, as well as the annual Virginia Blues and Jazz Festival each June and an American Made concert series that features bluegrass, old time and other traditional American music forms. Recent Music Center musical guests have included: The Parker String Quartet, Ensō, Dadealus and Borromeo String Quartets.

Mitchelltown is an unincorporated community in Bath County, Virginia, in the United States. The community is located along U.S. Route 220, north of Hot Springs, Virginia and south of Warm Springs, Virginia. The community is the location of Valley Supermarket, making it a common artery of the Bath County community.

Bacova Junction is an unincorporated community in Bath County, Virginia, in the United States. Bacova Junction is situated 2.9 miles (4.7 km) west of Hot Springs, and Virginia State Route 615 and Virginia State Route 687 converge at the community. Historically, Bacova Junction was known for its timber industry.
