Nipissing District is a district in Northeastern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1858. The district seat is North Bay. In 2016, the population was 83,150. The land area is 17,103.52 square kilometres (6,603.71 sq mi); the population density was 4.9 per square kilometre (13/sq mi), making it one of the most densely populated districts in northern Ontario.

CKFX-FM (101.9 MHz) is a Canadian radio station in North Bay, Ontario. The station airs a mainstream rock format under the brand name 101.9 Rock. The station uses the same general format as, and shares some programming with, CJRQ-FM in Sudbury and CJQQ-FM in Timmins.

CFXN-FM is a Canadian radio station, that airs a classic hits format at 106.3 FM in North Bay, Ontario. The station is branded as 106.3 Jet FM. The station plays a variety of current, recent and older hits. It is a "middle of the road" format positioned between the city's top 40 and hard rock stations. The station was licensed on the basis of a proposal to air a country format similar to that of the co-owned CHMT in Timmins. Instead, North Bay's CFXN broadcast an adult hits format from startup in 2006 as 106.3 Moose FM until changing to a light AC format in February, 2012, then to variety hits in April 2013. The new format of Biggest Variety stands alone as an option for 25- to 54-year-old listeners in the market. Originally owned by Haliburton Broadcasting Group, the station was licensed by the CRTC in 2005. As of 2012 the station is owned by the Vista Broadcast Group.On October 29, 2019, Vista applied to operate a new FM radio station in North Bay. The new station would operate at 90.5 MHz making it a sister station to CFXN-FM. Vista received CRTC approval to operate a new oldies radio station at North Bay on May 25, 2020. The call sign will be CFCH which are heritage calls for North Bay once belonging to what is now CKFX. Vista launched CFCH-FM at 90.5 MHz on June 15, 2021 with country music. On June 7, 2023, the station rebranded as 106.3 Jet FM with a classic hits format.

The Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC), or simply Ontario Northland, is a Crown agency of the Government of Ontario responsible for providing transportation services for passengers and goods in Northern Ontario. It reports to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario through the Minister of Transportation. ONTC operates freight and passenger services in Northern Ontario through its Ontario Northland Railway and Ontario Northland Motor Coach services. It previously operated an airline, NorOntair (shut down in 1996), and a telecommunications company, Ontera (sold to Bell Aliant in 2014).

North Bay station is an inter-city bus station located in the city of North Bay, Ontario, Canada. The station is located east of downtown near the Trans-Canada Highway (Ontario Highways 11 & 17) and directly southeast of the Northgate Shopping Centre. It was designed and laid out as an intermodal station, serving both passenger trains and intercity buses; however, due to the suspension of the Ontario Northland Railway's Northlander and Dream Catcher Express rail services in 2012, it is currently active only as a bus terminal. Station amenities include an indoor waiting area, lockers, parcel shipping and receiving, ticket vending, and Wi-Fi. The outdoor bus platform features a covered waiting area and seating. As well, the Northgate Shopping Centre is situated across the railway tracks from the station and is accessible via a pedestrian tunnel.

The North Bay Memorial Gardens is an arena located in North Bay, Ontario. It was built in 1955 and has a capacity of 4,246. The Gardens hosted the North Bay Centennials ice hockey team from 1982 to 2002, before they moved to Saginaw, Michigan. The arena's primary tenants today are the North Bay Battalion of the OHL and the Nipissing Lakers men's and women's ice hockey team of the OUA. In 2007 Memorial Gardens played host to the Atlanta Thrashers and New York Islanders for a pre-season game after the city of North Bay was crowned as Hockeyville. The City and the Committee that brought Hockeyville to North Bay used the prize money to put up a new electronic rink sign. The arena underwent a $12 million renovation for the new OHL franchise, the North Bay Battalion's arrival for the 2013–2014 season, also signing a 15-year lease with the arena. As part of the renovations, the seating capacity was increased, the ice surface was reconfigured to new OHL standards, 10 private boxes were added as well as a new 2-level team dressing room. The renovations were first $600,000 over budget even though promises were made to cut the renovations if it went over the $12 million mark by local government who ended up making special funds out of reserve to pay the cost overruns. Six weeks later a further $4.5 million was announced as spent on the project without the knowledge of local government from city taxpayers accounts, with an audit being called that later revealed little paper work and no communication of costs were done on the city's largest municipal project. It hosted the 2013 World Ringette Championships as well as the 2018 Ford World Women's Curling Championship.

North Bay developed as a railroad centre, and its airport was an important military location during the Cold War. The city is located 300 kilometres (190 mi) from both Ottawa and Toronto.

CKTR-FM was a radio station broadcasting at 104.9 FM in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Originally a tourist information station, the station later evolved toward a community radio format, airing programs produced by a variety of commercial and community groups, including the local chamber of commerce, real estate and financial planning agents, health and wellness consultants, sports and recreational clubs and students from Nipissing University.

Chippewa Secondary School is located along Chippewa Creek in North Bay, Ontario and is part of the Near North District School Board. A Grade 7-12 school, Chippewa offers English and Immersion French programming for Grades 7 through 12. In addition, students can enroll in Specialist High Skills Majors in Business, Sports or Health and Wellness. Chippewa Secondary School is an accredited school for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program since 2015. Chippewa's motto is "Carpe Diem" which is Latin for "Seize The Day". Athletes and students at Chippewa are known as the Chippewa Raiders (this mascot name is currently under review, as is the school’s name - Chippewa), and the school colours are scarlet and gold. The school was founded in 1958 and was named after the First Nation Chippewas. *The school name and mascot are under review for change*
