The school is ungraded, offering instruction from the early elementary school level through the ninth grade. Glen Burnie is a historic home located near Palmyra, Fluvanna County, Virginia. It was built in 1829, and is a two-story, three-bay, cruciform plan, gable-roofed brick structure with gable-end chimneys. The house was designed by General John Hartwell Cocke for Elizabeth Cary. The house has an eclectic mix of late Federal and Greek, Gothic, and Jacobean revival features. It has a mousetooth cornice, unusual pivoting windows, projecting towers and one-story porches on the south and north facade. Also on the property is the contributing Glen Burnie cemetery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.The property at Glen Burnie currently houses a small Eastern Orthodox monastery, the home to two monks. One monk is an Iconographer and has a workshop and studio on the property at Glen Burnie.

Lake Monticello, a private gated community, is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fluvanna County, Virginia, United States. The population was 10,126 at the 2020 census. The community is centered on a lake of the same name, which is formed by a dam on a short tributary of the nearby Rivanna River. Lake Monticello is part of the Charlottesville Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lake Monticello was developed in the 1960s as a summer vacation home community but quickly evolved into a bedroom community of Charlottesville, and to a smaller extent of Richmond. It also has a sizable retirement age population.

Pleasant Grove, also known as Laura Ann Farm and Oakworld, is a historic home located near Palmyra, Fluvanna County, Virginia. It was built in 1854, and is a two-story, five-bay, brick dwelling with a low hipped roof. The house has a 1+1⁄2-story, shed roofed, frame lean-to addition. It features a four-bay pedimented front porch, a mousetooth cornice, architrave moldings, and a delicate stair with paneled spandrel. Also on the property are the contributing outdoor kitchen, smokehouse, and Haden family cemetery. Fluvanna County acquired the property in December 1994.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Fluvanna County High School is a public school about two miles west of Palmyra, Virginia on Virginia State Route 53. It opened in 1934 as one of the first county consolidated high schools in the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia. The school is noted for its unique nickname, the Flying Flucos.
