J. O. Johnson High School

The Phelps–Jones House is a historic residence in Huntsville, Alabama. One of the oldest buildings in Alabama, it was built in 1818, shortly after the initial federal land sale in Madison County in 1809. Despite having many owners, the original character of the house has remained. The two-story house is built of brick laid in Flemish bond, and has Federal and Georgian details. The original block has a bedroom and parlor separated by a central hall, with a dining room in an ell to the northeast. Staircases in the hall and dining room led to three bedrooms on the second floor. In 1956, a porch in the crook of the ell was enclosed, adding a bathroom and small bedroom. Another porch off the rear of the dining room was enclosed and converted into a kitchen. Interior woodwork, including six mantels, is in provincial Federal style. The façade is five bays wide, with twelve-over-twelve sash windows on the ground floor and twelve-over-eight on the second. A narrow hipped roof porch covers the double front door; originally a wider porch covered a single door flanked by narrow sidelights and topped with a transom. The house was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1979 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Jemison High School is a new public high school in Huntsville, Alabama, United States. It is named for Mae Jemison, a native of nearby Decatur, Alabama who was the first African-American female astronaut.The school is built on the same campus as McNair Junior High School, which is named for the late Ronald McNair, the second African-American astronaut in space, who was killed in the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger. The school contains a magnet program called the College Academy which works alongside The University of Alabama in Huntsville to provide students with college credit throughout high school. The mascot of Jemison High School is the Jaguars. The school replaces J.O. Johnson High School, which closed its doors at the end of the 2015–16 school year. Jemison Highschool is a 6A school.

The Jude–Crutcher House (also known as the George Jude House and the David and Lucy Crutcher House) is a historic plantation house in Huntsville, Alabama. The house was built circa 1812 on land deeded that year to Samuel Echols. Echols sold 54 acres and the house to George Jude, Sr., in 1817. Jude died two years later, leaving the land to his son, George Jr. The younger Jude eventually acquired 800 acres (325 ha) and owned 31 slaves. Upon his death in 1873, the land stayed in the family until 1883. In 1906 David Crutcher, who had been born a slave on an adjacent plantation in 1851, purchased the house and 154 acres (62 ha) along with two other African-American men. The Crutchers operated a successful farm on their portion of the land, which was an extension farm for Alabama A&M University until the 1940s. Only 7% of African-American farmers in Madison County in 1910 owned their own farms. David died in 1924, and his wife, Lucy, died in 1943, although the house and land is still in the family. The house is a 1+1⁄2-story dogtrot structure, although the central breezeway was enclosed in the mid-20th century. A plain gabled porch was added at the same time, and shelters the modern front door and a pair of two-over-two sash windows. Six-over-six windows of different sizes sit on either side of the porch, and the façade is clad in clapboards. The metal gable roof has chimneys in each gable end. The interior is of the typical dogtrot layout of two rooms flanking the now-enclosed central hall. A rear shed roofed addition was built to house a bathroom and kitchen.The house was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1999 and the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Alabama A&M Events Center is the new arena that host the Alabama A&M Bulldogs basketball and volleyball teams of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The arena is located in Huntsville, Alabama, right on the campus of Alabama A&M University. The facility holds up to 6,000 people for basketball games. Other than basketball and volleyball games, graduation ceremonies, and other functions of Alabama A&M University. It will also contain locker rooms for the team, training rooms, a Hall of Fame honoring past Alabama A&M student athletes, and a kitchen to help provide meals for on-campus events. The construction was completed in 2022.

Louis Crews Stadium is a 21,000-seat multi-purpose stadium located on the campus of Alabama A&M University in Normal, Alabama. The stadium opened in 1996 and is home to the Alabama A&M football team. It was named in honor of Louis Crews, who served as the team's head coach from 1960 to 1975. Built at a price of $10 million, Louis Crews Stadium has a current capacity of 21,000, and is the tenth largest stadium in Alabama. The home-side grandstands have a capacity of 14,000 and the visitors' side holds 7,000. The stadium features a two-level press box which can accommodate up to 30 sportswriters. In addition, there are 19 skyboxes that can seat 16 to 50 people each. An all-weather, 8-lane running track surrounds the football playing surface. The track portion of the facility contains a high jump competition area, and multi-directional long/triple jump and pole vault runways. The stadium hosted the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2015, 2016, and 2017, and several AAU Track Meets during the summer months. FieldTurf was originally installed in October 2012, and replaced with an all new state of the art FieldTurf surface in May 2023, one uses coconut husks instead of the traditional rubber pellets, which cools field temperatures.

Bulldog Field is a 500-seat baseball park in Huntsville, Alabama. It is home to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs baseball team of the NCAA Division I Southwestern Athletic Conference. The venue has a capacity of 500 spectators.

T.M. Elmore Gymnasium is a 6,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Normal, the northern part of Huntsville, Alabama, United States. It is home to the Alabama A&M University Bulldogs women's volleyball team, and was also home to the A&M men's and women's basketball teams before their 2022 move to the new Alabama A&M Events Center. The gymnasium is informally known as "The Dog House" due to the hot temperature and loud environment for opposing teams. In February 1996, Elmore Gymnasium was ranked the "fourth-toughest place to play" in NCAA Division II basketball by Division II Bulletin. The three venues ranked ahead of it were Althouse Hall at Philadelphia Textile (now known as Jefferson); the Owensboro Sportscenter, a municipally-owned venue used by Kentucky Wesleyan College; and the DakotaDome at the now-Division I University of South Dakota (no longer used for basketball since the 2016 opening of the adjacent Sanford Coyote Sports Center). The gymnasium also hosts numerous other civic and institutional activities from concerts and pep rallies, to guest speakers and convocations. The building also houses classrooms, office space, training facilities and the Physical Education department. As a concert venue, Elmore Gymnasium can seat up to 7,000. It was built in 1974, around the same time as the much larger Von Braun Center which opened the next year, and thus Elmore is often used as an alternative venue to the VBC.

Normal, Alabama is the home of Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU), the largest HBCU in Alabama. The university is situated in Huntsville, Alabama's northern city limits in Madison County. Normal was established in 1890, when AAMU was then known as State Normal and Industrial School of Huntsville. It was designated a land grant college of Alabama. At that time student enrollment was 300 with 11 teachers. That same year, a United States Post Office was established there. Normal's ZIP Code is 35762. Students were called "Normalites".

James H. Wilson Hall (formerly known as the Councill Domestic Science Building) is a historic building on the campus of Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. Construction began in 1911, and was completed in 1912.State Black Archives The funds were a gift from the Robert R. McCormick family. It served as the university's home economics building until 1968, when it was partly taken over by the art department until 1970. It was vacant until 1990, when the building was restored and taken over by the State Black Archives Research Center and Museum, which was established in 1987.State Black Archives The center portion of the building is three stories, with a gable roof running front-to-back. The main entrance is inside an enclosed lobby of white painted brick which features three windowed arches on the front and arches with glass doors on either side. Above the lobby is a two-story pedimented portico, supported by four Ionic columns, with a third-floor balcony. On either side of the main block, set back from the portico, are 2 four-bay, two-story wings. Windows on the first floor façade are six-over-six sashes, while the second and third floors are nine-over-nine. The roof is covered in red tile with a decorative finial on the gable ends. The cornice is decorated with small dentils on the wings, and larger ones on the architrave.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama (TMMAL) manufactures engines for cars and trucks near Huntsville, Alabama, United States. It is a subsidiary of Toyota Motor North America, itself a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan. Construction of the factory was completed in 2003.

Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (Alabama A&M or AAMU) is a public historically black land-grant university in Normal, Huntsville, Alabama. Founded in 1875, it took its present name in 1969. It was one of about 180 "normal schools" founded by state governments in the 19th century to train teachers for the rapidly growing public common schools. It was one of 23 established to train African Americans to teach in segregated schools. Some closed but most steadily expanded their role and became state colleges in the early 20th century and state universities in the late 20th century. AAMU is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University Historic District, also known as Normal Hill College Historic District, has 28 buildings and four structures listed in the United States National Register of Historic Places.

Shelta Cave is a 2,500-foot-long (760 m) cave and lake located in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama, United States. It is described as one of the most bio-diverse caves within the Appalachian Mountains. The cave is currently owned and managed as a nature preserve by the National Speleological Society, with their main offices directly above the cave. It was declared a National Natural Landmark in October 1972.
