Aljezur

The Aljezur River (Portuguese pronunciation: [alʒɨˈzuɾ]) is a small river in the Portuguese region of the Algarve. The river runs westwards for 9.8 kilometres (6.1 mi) from its start in the village of Aljezur from the confluence of the River Alfambres and River Cerca to its mouth on the Atlantic western Algarve coast at Praia da Amoreira.

The Ponte de Aljezur (Bridge of Aljezur), is a structure located over the Ribeira de Aljezur, in the civil parish of Aljezur, municipality of Aljezur, in the Portuguese district of Faro.

Aljezur is a parish (freguesia) in the municipality of Aljezur in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 3,365, in an area of 166.76 km².The area consists of Vale da Telha, Arrifana, Espartal, Vales, and Picao de Baixo Archaeological sites confirm man's presence in the area since prehistoric times, most notably for a period around 4,000 BC and during the Bronze Age. The name Aljezur comes from Aljuzur, the Arabic meaning of Islands. Overlooking the town is a ruin of a Moorish fortress. A visit on the hill and learning about the function and history of this historic monument can be combined with a visit to one of the local museums.

The Castle of Aljezur (Portuguese: Castelo de Aljezur) is a medieval castle founded in the parish of Aljezur, in the municipality of the same name overlooking the Aljezur River . Excavations in the castle have discovered that the location was occupied during the Bronze and Iron Ages, while the parade grounds, habitational structures, and two silos date to the 12th and 13th centuries.

Aljezur International School is located a short distance from the town of Aljezur in the western Algarve, Portugal. The school provides secondary education, taught in the English language, to children from 10 – 17 years of age following the Cambridge International syllabus and leading to Cambridge International IGCSE qualifications in a broad range of subjects. Aljezur International School is an accredited Cambridge International Examinations Centre and, as the only open exam centre in the western Algarve, accommodates both internal and external students for IGCSE examinations. Aljezur International officially opened as the area's first International school in September 2010.The school houses several classrooms, library, art room, dining room and kitchen, and has access to laboratory facilities, sporting complex and multi-sport gymnasium.The school serves the municipalities of Aljezur, Lagos, and Vila do Bispo.

Rogil is a Portuguese civil parish in Aljezur Municipality. It lies within the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. The population in 2011 was 1,126, in an area of 34.96 km².The village of Rogil lies on a plateau at about 95 metres above sea level. There is no church listed on the diocesan website.

Praia da Amoreira is a beach within the Municipality of Aljezur, in the Algarve, Portugal. The beach is on the western Seaboard in the north west of the Algarve. The beach is 5.4 miles (8.7 km) north west of the village of Aljezur, and is 71.8 miles (115.6 km) north west, by road, from the regions capital of Faro.

Praia do monte Clérigo is a beach within the municipality of Aljezur, in Algarve, Portugal. The beach is on the western Seaboard in the north west of the Algarve. The beach is 5.1 miles (8.2 km) north west of the village of Aljezur, and is 70.0 miles (112.7 km) north west, by road, from the regions capital of Faro. Praia do monte Clérigohas been designated a blue Flag beach (2012).

The beach is on the western Seaboard in the north west of the Algarve. The beach is 2.6 miles (4.2 km) west of the village of Rogil, and is 71.8 miles (115.6 km) north west, by road, from the regions capital of Faro. The beach is inside the Vicentine Coast Natural Park.

Praia da Arrifana is a beach within the Municipality of Aljezur, in the Algarve, Portugal. The beach is on the western Seaboard in the north west of the Algarve. The beach is 6.0 miles (9.7 km) south south west of the village of Aljezur, and is 71.0 miles (114.3 km) north west, by road, from the regions capital of Faro. The beach of Praia da Arrifana is inside the Vicentine Coast Natural Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Praia da Arrifana has been designated a blue Flag beach (2012).

Praia do Vale dos Homens is a beach within the Municipality of Aljezur, in the Algarve, Portugal. The beach is on the western seaboard in the north west of the Algarve. The beach is 1.7 miles (2.7 km) north west of the village of Rogil, and is 72.4 miles (116.5 km) north west, by road, from the region's capital of Faro.
