Vailsburg High School was a public high school in Vailsburg, Newark, United States. It was established in 1961 and was part of the Newark Public Schools district. It closed as a high school in 1988; the district has since re-purposed the building as a middle school and elementary school.The school's student body was 56 percent black in 1975 and 84 percent black by 1979, during the continued white flight in the city through the 1970s.

Seton Hall University (SHU) is a private Roman Catholic research university in South Orange, New Jersey. Founded in 1856 by then-Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley and named after his aunt, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Seton Hall is the oldest diocesan university in the United States.Seton Hall consists of 9 schools and colleges and has an undergraduate enrollment of about 5,800 students and a graduate enrollment of about 4,400. It is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity".The university is known for its men's basketball team, which has appeared in 13 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournaments after making it to the final of the 1989 tournament and losing 80–79 in overtime to the Michigan Wolverines. The resulting increase in national television exposure has led to increasing numbers of applications from prospective students.

Walsh Gymnasium is a multi-purpose arena in South Orange, New Jersey on the campus of Seton Hall University. The arena opened in 1941 and can seat 1,316 people. It was home to the Seton Hall Pirates men's basketball team before they moved to the Meadowlands in 1985 and then Prudential Center in 2007. Currently, the arena hosts the women's basketball and volleyball teams, but continues to host men's basketball for preseason exhibitions, postseason invitational games such as early rounds of the NIT, and occasionally a regular season non-conference game if there is a conflict with Prudential Center's event schedule. The building is part of the Richie Regan Recreation & Athletic Center, and, like the school's main library, is named for Rev. Thomas J. Walsh, fifth bishop of Newark and former President of the Board of Trustees. Walsh hosted a semifinal game of the ECAC Metro Region tournament, a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's college basketball tournament organized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), in 1977. Both games for the Pirates in the 2012 NIT were played in Walsh.

The Eugene V. Kelly Carriage House, also known as Father Vincent Monella Art Center, is located on the campus of Seton Hall University in South Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. It was built in 1887 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It includes Late Victorian architecture and is listed for its meeting architectural criteria. The listed area is 5 acres (2.0 ha) and includes just the one contributing building.

The W. Paul Stillman School of Business is a post-secondary degree-granting institution concentrating in business within Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. It educates both undergraduate and graduate students. The W. Paul Stillman School of Business is accredited by the AACSB and is the only school in northern New Jersey to be accredited for both accounting and business.

The School of Diplomacy and International Relations (SODIR), is a post-secondary, degree-granting institution concentrating on international affairs within Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. Founded in collaboration with the United Nations Association of the United States of America, it was the first school of international relations to be founded after the Cold War. The school offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. The School of Diplomacy and International Relations is an affiliate member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs.

Owen T. Carroll Field is a multi-purpose stadium in South Orange, New Jersey, on the campus of Seton Hall University. It is the home field of the Seton Hall Pirates baseball and men's and women's soccer teams. The stadium hosted Seton Hall football team until 1982 when the school cut football. The stadium holds 261 spectators. It is named for Owen T. Carroll, former coach of the Seton Hall baseball team The facility underwent a $6.5 million renovation in 2006 that included a new Field Turf surface and light stanchions. In June 2010, the Field Turf surface was upgraded once again, and in 2013, a new scoreboard was added. In 2019, Seton Hall Baseball will be playing all of their games away from South Orange, including nine Big East "home" games in New York City while the facility undergoes major renovations.

The Boland Hall fire was a fatal fire in Boland Hall, a freshman residence hall on the Seton Hall University campus in South Orange, New Jersey, United States on January 19, 2000. Three students died and 58 were injured, several with very serious burns. It was one of the deadliest college fires in recent U.S. history. Two students who started the fire as a prank were indicted in mid-2003, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in late 2006, and were sentenced to five years' imprisonment in early 2007.

Montrose Park Historic District is a historic district located in South Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The buildings in the district were built between c. 1870 and c. 1930 and were added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 29, 1997.

Irvington High School: Frank H. Morrell Campus is a four-year comprehensive community public high school in Irvington, in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades, as the lone secondary school of the Irvington Public Schools. IHS has three main floors and a basement, with each floor holding up to 23 classrooms. A west wing of the building was erected in the 1970s. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,565 students and 115.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.6:1. There were 879 students (56.2% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 101 (6.5% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

The Stanley Theater is a former movie theater located in Newark, New Jersey. It was built in 1927 and was turned into a social hall in the 1970s. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 28, 1986.

The East Orange VA Medical Center is a United States Department of Veterans Affairs hospital complex located at 385 Tremont Avenue in East Orange of Essex County, New Jersey. Established in 1952, it is part of the VA New Jersey Health Care System. Listed as the East Orange VA Hospital, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 4, 2018, for its significance in health/medicine.
