The Commercial Street Historic District is a national historic district located between Washington Ave. and Grant Ave. in Springfield, Missouri, United States. The district encompasses 57 contributing buildings in Springfield's central business district. The district developed between about 1870 and 1935, and it includes representative examples of Romanesque Revival and Victorian style architecture. Notable buildings include the Thos. Murray Building (1908), Fire Station No. 2 (1904), Perkins Hotel (1902–1908), Bank of Springfield (c. 1884), Bakers' Union Hall (1908), Uncle Carl Haden’s Pawn Shop (1902–1910), and Commercial Club (c. 192–1928). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.The six-block district is designated by the Environmental Protection Agency as a brownfield land. Key components of the revitalization will include improved stormwater management, use of alternative energy sources, and the reduction of the district's carbon footprint. EPA assistance will provide guidance on green infrastructure and green design techniques for several properties in the redevelopment district.

Jefferson Avenue Footbridge is a historic footbridge located in Springfield, Missouri, United States. Built in 1902, it measures 562-foot (171 m) long and allows pedestrians to cross 13 sets of railroad tracks.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.As the footbridge approached its 100th anniversary, it became apparent that a major rehabilitation was required to preserve the aging structure. Springfield City officials partnered with the city's Commercial Club to obtain federal transportation enhancement grants and Community Development Block Grant funding to save the historic footbridge. In addition to the extensive rehabilitation work on the footbridge, a gathering place plaza was created adjacent to the Commercial Street terminus. The rehabilitation work was conducted between 2001 and 2002 at a cost of over $518,000. Nearly 100 years after the original footbridge was constructed, the rehabilitated structure was reopened to pedestrian traffic and rededicated on April 17, 2002. The bridge was closed on March 1, 2016. Missouri Governor Mike Parson said on June 30, 2023 that the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge would be repaired and able to walk on around 2024 or 2025.

St. John's Mercy Hospital Building is a historic hospital building located at Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. The building was constructed in four stages: The original section was built in 1906 (demolished about 1970); a separate convent was constructed in 1914; a four-story Jacobethan addition was added in 1922; and in 1944 a four-story unit and gymnasium were constructed. The brick and limestone building features Tudor arch and segmental arch openings.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Greene County Courthouse, also known as Historic Greene County Courthouse, is a historic courthouse located at Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. It was built between 1910 and 1912, and is a four-story, Classical Revival style rusticated stone building. It has a flat roof and low dome over a rotunda. The front facade features a free colonnade of four Ionic order columns that extend the height of the upper two floors. Also on the property are the contributing bronze replica of the Statue of Liberty, the stone bases of two columns from the former courthouse, and a World War I cannon. It was the seat of Greene County government until a new Judicial Courts Building and Justice Center were built in the 1990s.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Tiny Town, in Springfield, Missouri, was the first city built in miniature and had over a thousand structures. A smaller village version was completed in 1919, while the larger full version was completed in 1925. It was motivated primarily by a local homebuilding promotion. The project involved 10,000 students from eighteen Springfield public high schools. The superintendent of the school system was a key instigator of the project and used it as a teaching aid to instruct students in government, home-ownership and citizenship.

Mid-Town Historic District is a national historic district in Springfield, Missouri, United States. It encompasses 455 buildings, 8 structures, and 7 objects in a predominantly residential section of Springfield. It developed between about 1871 and 1952, and includes representative examples of Late Victorian, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman architecture, including the separately listed Bentley House and Stone Chapel. Other notable buildings include those on the Drury College campus, Central Christian Church (1926), St. Johns Episcopal Church (1886), Mary S. Boyd School (1911), and Trinity Lutheran Church (c. 1919).The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 with a boundary increase in 2002.

Bentley House, also known as the Museum of the Ozarks, is a historic home located at Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. It was built in 1892, and is a two-story, Queen Anne style brick and frame dwelling. It has a complex roof of gables and hips projecting at right angles and accented by several dormers. It features a semi-detached tower with conical roof, projecting bays on primary and secondary facades, multiple porches, and a porte cochere. It was a single family home until 1964, dormitory for Drury College from 1965 to 1977, then home to the Museum of the Ozarks.: 2, 6 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Drury University, formerly Drury College and originally Springfield College, is a private university in Springfield, Missouri. The university's mission statement describes itself as "church-related". It enrolls about 1,700 undergraduate and graduate students in six master's programs and 1,279 students in the College of Continuing Professional Studies. In 2013, the Drury Panthers men's basketball team won the NCAA Men's Division II Basketball Championship. The Drury men's and women's Panthers have accumulated 22 NCAA Division II National Championships between them, in addition to numerous NAIA titles before moving to the NCAA.

Central High School is a high school located in uptown Springfield, Missouri. The school, a part of Springfield Public Schools, was Springfield's first high school to be built. Construction of the building was completed in 1893. The first graduating class graduated a year later in 1894 consisting of two out of the 76 seniors that were enrolled. The school was renamed Central High School after the construction of Springfield's second oldest high school, Parkview High School, in 1956. Central's mascot is a Bulldog, named Pug by the students at the time of his creation. Central is also the home to the Kiltie Drum and Bugle Corps. This corps was created by Robert Ritchie Robertson in 1926, and has the distinction of being the first all-female Scottish pipe and drum corps in the country.
