Gwangju Station is a train station located in Gwangju, South Korea, 353 km south of Yongsan station.

Chonnam National University (CNU; Korean: 전남대학교) is one of ten Flagship Korean National Universities located in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, South Korea. In March 2006, Yeosu National University merged with Chonnam National University to become a satellite campus. CNU ranked the 10th nationwide and the 420th worldwide in world university rankings in the CWUR (Center for World University Rankings). It was also the 1st among the nine Korean national flagship universities in "Asia’s Top 75 Most Innovative Universities" in 2017 Reuters. CNU has also expanded its global reach by establishing partnerships with 499 Universities in 62 countries as of 2019. CNU now offers courses in major areas of academic studies with 16 colleges and 11 graduate schools. It has two main campuses, one in Gwangju Metropolitan City and the other in the City of Yeosu. CNU also has two medical campuses and four university teaching hospitals. With more than 1,700 full-time professors, it now is a home to 35,000 students including 2,000 international students from 75 different countries. Each year, approximately 500 international exchange students come to study at CNU, while approximately 600 CNU students study abroad at various sister universities around the world. Its complex of dormitories can house 4,000 students. CNU is a research-oriented university, and the amount of its research funds exceeds more than US$150 million. It is particularly distinguished in the fields of agricultural studies, life sciences, computer science, biorobotics, engineering, and medical sciences.

Chonnam National University Law School is a national law school in Gwangju, South Korea. Since it was founded in 1954, the school has produced a myriad of lawyers who have contributed to establishing justice in Korea. After setting up an approved three-year JD program in 2008 under the newly introduced law school system, the school is now one of the largest and each JD class enrolls approximately 120 students. Hankyung Business Magazine has recently ranked Chonnam National Law 9th among top law schools in Korea in 2017.

Geumnamno 5(o)-ga station (Korean: 금남로5가역; Hanja: 錦南路4街驛) is a station of Gwangju Metro Line 1 in Buk-dong, Buk District, Gwangju, South Korea.

Gwangju High School (Korean: 광주고등학교; Hanja: 光州高等學校; RR: Gwangju Godeung Hakgyo) is a high school in Dong-gu district, Gwangju, South Korea. It was established in 1951.

Gwangju Jeil High School (Korean: 광주제일고등학교) is a boys' high school in Gwangju, South Korea. It has 840 students in grades 10, 11, and 12. The school is considered to be one of the most prestigious high schools in Gwangu. Historically, the school is known as the birthplace of the Gwangju Student Independence Movement, a series of protests in 1929 against the 1910–1945 Japanese rule of Korea. The school is also known for its baseball team, and has won the Cheongryonggi championship multiple times. A number of its alumni have gone on to play professional baseball in Korea, Japan, and the United States. One of the school's most famous graduates is Sun Dong-yol, considered one of the greatest pitchers in the history of Korean professional baseball. Another graduate, Lee Jong-beom, nicknamed "Son of the Wind," is widely considered one of the best five-tool players in Korean baseball history, and the best all-around KBO player of the 1990s. As of 2015, the school had produced more Major League Baseball players — four — than any other high school in Asia, including Osaka, Japan's famous PL Gakuen High School.

Gwangju National University of Education (also Kwangju National University of Education 광주교육대학교) is a national university located in Buk-gu, Gwangju, South Korea. It is one of ten national universities that are designed to raise high-quality elementary school teachers. On average incoming students at the national education university have a 95th percentile of the national college entrance exam. Its origins lie in the Chonnam Public Teachers School founded in 1923. In 1961 this became the Gwangju Teachers College running a two-year teacher training programme. In 1993 it became the Gwangju National University of Education and runs four year teacher training programmes. Starting in 1996 it has also run a graduate school.

Yangdong Market station (Korean: 양동시장역; Hanja: 良洞市場驛) is a station of Gwangju Metro Line 1 in Seo-dong, Seo District, Gwangju, South Korea. The station name comes from the nearby Yangdong Market.

Geumnamno 4(sa)-ga station (Korean: 금남로4가역; Hanja: 錦南路4街驛) is a station of Gwangju Metro Line 1 in Chunggeum-dong, Dong District, Gwangju, South Korea.

Wonga Temple or Wongaksa is a South Korean Buddhist temple on the Geumnam street in the Dong-gu district, Gwangju city. Situated in the downtown of the metropolitan city, this is a branch temple of the Songgwang temple in Suncheon and belongs to the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It was founded in 1914 by Master Geumbong Girim (錦峯基林) of Seonam temple as its missionary center in Gwangju.

Gwangju Cinema (Korean: 광주극장; Hanja: 光州劇場; also Gwangju Theater) is a historic theater in Dong District, Gwangju, South Korea. The theater first opened on October 1, 1935, and screened its first film on October 10. At the time of its opening, it was the theater with the largest seating capacity in Korea. It has been described as the only single-screen theater left in the country, as multiplex theaters have become the norm. It now specializes in art films. The theater has also historically hosted other types of productions, including concerts, pansori productions, and stage plays.

The Gwangju-Kia Champions Field (Korean: 광주 KIA 챔피언스 필드) is a baseball stadium in Gwangju, South Korea. It has been the home of KBO club Kia Tigers since 2014.
