The 2002 Seve Trophy golf tournament took place 19–21 April at Druids Glen, Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow, Ireland. The team captain for Great Britain and Ireland was Colin Montgomerie, with the captain for Continental Europe being Seve Ballesteros. The competition was won by Great Britain and Ireland.

Druid's Glen is a hotel and golf resort in Newtownmountkennedy, Republic of Ireland, situated about 35 kilometres (22 mi) south of Dublin in County Wicklow. The resort consists of the 5-star Druid's Glen Hotel & Country Club, two championship golf courses, and Woodstock House, the clubhouse at Druid's Glen.The "Druids Glen Golf Course", opened in 1995, and was the venue for the Irish Open between 1996 and 1999, and the 2002 Seve Trophy. The second course on the site is the "Druids Heath Golf Course", which opened in 2003 and has hosted 'the Irish PGA'.Druids Glen has now been reconstructed on HB studios The Golf Club Game on PS4, Xbox1 and PC via Steam in 2015.

Kilcoole (Irish: Cill Chomhghaill, meaning 'church of Comhghall') is a town in County Wicklow, Ireland. It is 3 kilometres (2 mi) south of Greystones, 14 kilometres (9 mi) north of Wicklow, and about 28 kilometres (20 mi) south of Dublin. It was used as a filming location for the Irish television series Glenroe, which ran through the 1980s and 1990s. The town has a large industrial estate to the south. An area of marshland runs along the coast from Kilcoole south to Wicklow town, called the Murragh. This area is home to many endangered species of plants and animals. The nearby beach is the summertime home of the little tern, one of the few places in Ireland where these birds nest. Within Kilcoole, is an area of flora known as the Rock which is a huge rock/hill that predates the Cambrian Period. Kilcoole is in the Roman Catholic parish of Kilquade and the local church, St. Anthony's Church, was opened in 1968.

Kilquade, historically Killcowade (Irish: Cill Chomhaid), is a townland and a Roman Catholic parish in north County Wicklow, Ireland. It lies between Kilpedder and Kilcoole, about one kilometre east of Junction 12 (Kilpedder) of the N11 national primary route. It is part of the barony of Newcastle and lies within both the civil parishes of Kilcoole and Newcastle Lower. The church, St. Patrick's, was rebuilt in 1802, refurbished in 2002-2003 and rededicated in 2004. Directly across the road from the church is the National Garden Exhibition Centre.

Kilcoole railway station (Irish: Stáisiún Chill Chomghaill) is a railway station in Kilcoole, County Wicklow, Ireland. The station serves the village of the same name and the nearby village of Newtownmountkennedy.

Ballyronan (Irish: Baile uí Rónáin) is a townland, located in County Wicklow, Ireland. Ballyronan is located south-east of the village of Kilpedder and north-east of the village of Newtownmountkennedy. The townland is bordered by Kilpedder West, Seaview and Kilpedder East to the north, Kilquade to the east, Ballygarret to the south and Mount Kennedy Demesne to the west. Today, it is considered a part of Kilpedder or Kilquade.

Newtownmountkennedy (Irish: Baile an Chinnéidigh, meaning 'Kennedy's town') is a small town in County Wicklow, Ireland. It developed within the historic townland of Ballygarny (Irish: Baile Ó gCearnaigh) (now Mount Kennedy Demesne), although all that remains is a motte where a church, graveyard and a castle or tower house once stood just 0.85 km (0.53 mi) north of the town. It acquired its present name in the mid-seventeenth-century, when Sir Robert Kennedy, M.P. for Kildare, made it his principal residence. It is just off the N11 road to Wexford, just south of Kilpedder and south-west of Greystones. It is about 15 km (9.3 mi) north of Wicklow town, 15 km (9.3 mi) south of Bray and approximately 35 km (22 mi) from Dublin. The R772 regional road passes through the village. This was the main Dublin-Wexford route, the N11, but the village was bypassed by the new N11 dual carriageway in 1990. This town has one of the longest place names in Ireland. Between the 2011 and 2016 census, the population of the town increased by 17.6% (from 2,410 to 2,835 inhabitants), one of the highest growth rates in County Wicklow on the period. The area is a dormitory town for some workers commuting to Bray and Dublin.The headquarters of Coillte, the Irish Forestry Board, are situated in the village forest. Newtownmountkennedy is in the Roman Catholic parish of Kilquade and one of the Kilquade parish's two chapels of ease is located in the village at the junction with the Roundwood Road.

Charlesland (Irish: Acra na mBodach, meaning 'acre of the low-bred persons (or churls)') is a townland and residential development located on the southside of Greystones in County Wicklow, Ireland. It is about 25 kilometres from Dublin city centre. As of the 2011 census, the townland of Charlesland had a population of 3,130 people.

The Murrough Wetlands (Irish: Na Bogaigh Murrach) are a 15-kilometre (9.32 mi) long complex of coastal wetlands in County Wicklow, Ireland. The main wetland is centred around Broad Lough immediately north of Wicklow town. Broad Lough is a large estuarine lake that is cut off from the Irish sea by a long, thin shingle ridge. Smaller, disconnected wetland areas such as the East Coast Nature Reserve and the Kicoole Marshes are also included in the complex. The Murrough Wetlands are the most extensive wetland area on the east coast of Ireland, and are an EU-designated Special Area of Conservation and Special Protection Area.

Kilpedder (Irish: Cill Pheadair, meaning "Peter's church") is a village in County Wicklow, Ireland, located off the N11 road between Kilmacanogue and Newtownmountkennedy, just south of the Glen of the Downs Nature Reserve. It had a population of 1,255 as of the 2016 census.Kilpedder environs include Glenview Park, Kilpedder Grove, Johnstown, Tinnapark, Sunnybank and the Garden Village to the south. Kilpedder is home to two public houses and a petrol station. The army has a rifle range in the area.

Éire Óg Greystones GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club with approximately 600 members and 20 different teams competing in Hurling, Gaelic Football, and Ladies Football in Wicklow League and Championship competitions. It comprises adult and juvenile sections. The majority of the clubs members are juveniles, both girls and boys, playing football and hurling. Some of the clubs most notable honours include football and hurling intermediate county championships in 2011 and 2013 respectively, a Leinster intermediate football championship and the club has also won the All Ireland Féile on two occasions in 2007 and 2016. Éire Óg Greystones have produced many superstars over the years who have represented their county and even country in both football and hurling. One of the most recent representatives goes by the name of Martin Joyce, who in 2018 represented Ireland in a hurling exhibition game against Brazil in Wembley stadium. Mr Joyce bagged a modest 7-16 on the day. The club is amongst the largest community sports club in Greystones, catering for men and women of all ages and also a growing social membership. A new clubhouse, to provide for the growing membership in the club and in the wider community, was under construction as of 2006.
